Back in Business XV | Card and Promo Discussion Thread

    BACK IN BUSINESS XV
    Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th June, 2021.
Parc des Princes Stadium. Paris, France.

    NIGHT ONE
    Saturday 19th June, 2021.

    FIRST MATCH
    (1/--)
Chris Peacock [c] (w/ Allen Price) vs. Uncle J.J. JAY! (w/ Quiet).
X Rules Match (No DQs, No Countouts, Falls Count Anywhere).
FWA X Division Championship Tournament: Semi-Final Match.
    (Match writer: Man)

Back in Business and the X Division Four-Man Tournament will begin with the champion Chris Peacock facing off against a man in Uncle J.J. JAY! who has made it his business to involve himself in Peacock's doings over the past couple of months. Peacock fired back on Steel City, though, impersonating JAY!'s manager Quiet in one of the most memorable sequences of the night. The two will look to continue their ongoing and escalating series of bizarre oneupmanship, but it's Peacock's championship that this contest will ultimately be about.

Peacock dethroned Konchu Hao for the championship belt at the Insurrection episode of Fight Night in Washington D.C., whilst the Mad Wizard took the prize from none other than Uncle at a Madman's Mayhem Match at Desert Storm. That bizarre contest also involved Gerald Grayson, the fourth and final man involved in this unique and impossible-to-call tournament.

    SECOND MATCH
    (1/--)
Gerald Grayson vs. Konchu Hao (w/ Epsilon).
X Rules Match (No DQs, No Countouts, Falls Count Anywhere).
FWA X Division Championship Tournament: Semi-Final Match.
    (Match writer: Jam)

Gerald Grayson and Konchu Hao have met before: way back at the Desert Storm pay-per-view, where these two now-former X Division Champions competed in the aforementioned Madman's Mayhem Match alongside Uncle J.J. JAY! It was JAY! who walked into that event as champion: Grayson looking to win his title back whilst Konchu emerged victorious. He promptly lost the belt to the fourth and final man in this tournament, the current champion Chris Peacock, at Fight Night: Insurrection.

Grayson is the longest and Hao the shortest reigning of these four most recent X Division Champions, but both are equally dangerous competitors. It will be interesting to see if Grayson's high-flying and technical style will mesh with Konchu's more unconventional technique, and which of these two great former champions will book their place in the final on Night Two.

    THIRD MATCH
    (1/30)
    Dan Maskell vs. Alyster Black.
    Singles Match.
    (Match writer: Jon)

Sometimes in life all it takes is one moment to alter course, as fate reaches out with it's hands and guides you down this pathway. This is what is commonly known as a chain reactive sequence. Now while not too many people in this world would consider a simple shoulder barge down a tight hallway the beginning of a chain reaction. In the minds of two of the FWA's most combustible elements Alyster Black and Dan Maskell that is all it takes. A chance encounter in the hall of a building to begin a repeated series of these two violent men being at odds with one another. Yet if you take a step back and think about this clearer, the foundations for this contest have been set in stone for years!

For Alyster Black and Dan Maskell do have history. Both men competed as part of the CWA around the same time despite never having competed against one another. Yet it was when Alyster Black suffered a serious injury which put him on the shelf that these two men would forever be linked in the history books. As when Krash, Alyster's long time partner needed a new tag team partner. Surprisingly he'd find one in the ever volatile Heretic with the odd couple attaining CWA Tag Team Gold. Sadly while Dan's CWA career went from strength to strength, Alyster looking perhaps to prove something to Krash would try to make a premature return from injury which only set back his recovery further. This would only add to Alyster's loathing of Dan as he witnessed Dan double cross and defeat his best friend at Five Star Attraction.

While both men would be adamant in saying otherwise the similarities between the two are quite noted. Both men have very much been noted for their self destructive behavior in the past. With Dan's well known indiscretions not too mention Alyster's instability causing them to each take long exoduses away from the ring. Yet seven years on they'd find themselves brought together as part of the FWA. With the actions of Dan Maskell not just towards Alyster's partner Krash in the past but also his current Black Caramel partner Gabrielle who Dan has relentlessly gone out of his way to torture since his FWA arrival. While these actions may not have been directly aimed at Alyster Black, if there is one thing we do know about him it's that he is fiercely loyal to those he considers his friends. Meaning that these hostile actions of Dan firmly put the Heretic into his crosshairs.

The more these two have come into conflict be it on fight night or during their bar room clash. The more the contrast and similarities have become clear. That there is perhaps a more somber feel to this contest than there was previously. Because this contest has become more than just a match. It's a final stand between two warriors intending to make it their opponents' last fight. All the while perhaps in hindsight with these parallels these two are kindred spirits. Both men of course noted outsiders on the periphery. In the past they've both watched everyone else and at times had to pretend to be just like them. Despite harboring the knowledge deep down that they are by no means similar to the rest of the world. Which has only further drawn them together, knowing that in this fight neither man will have to hide who they truly are. Despite the knowledge under different circumstances they could have been great friends.

    FOURTH MATCH
    (1/30)
Reagan Cole [c] vs. Marcus McClain.
    Singles Match.
    FWA Gauntlet Championship.
    (Match writer: Jimmy)

It all started with a challenge.

Marcus McClain issued a challenge to anyone on the roster to a match at Back at Business XV. Ask you and shall receive, Reagan Cole obliged Big Mack and took him up on his challenge. What started as a friendly little rivalry with mutual respect for one another has become more personal.

Since he arrived in FWA, Reagan Cole has had a rough go of it. Reagan didn’t start on the right foot; with one loss after another, things were looking dire for “The British Apprentice.” Then things started looking up for Cole with wins over Saus X, Louis Valander, and former Gauntlet Champion Eli Black. At Fight Night: Sin City, Reagan Cole captured his first-ever championship in FWA after defeating then Gauntlet champion Eli Black in a grueling gauntlet match.

If you ask the man himself, Marcus McClain’s tenure in FWA thus far hasn’t gone as well as he had hoped. He’s got some wins under his belt, including one over Reagan Cole, but there are also losses, significant losses that haven't sat well with Big Mack. The inconsistency had drawn a bit of an attitude change in McClain, and now he’s willing to win by any means necessary to cement his legacy in not only FWA but wrestling history.

What started as a challenge answered out of respect has become more personal now with the Gauntlet championship on the line. This is more than a rubber match, more than a challenge.

Can Marcus McClain finally claim his first championship in FWA and begin his journey on cementing his legacy? Not if Reagan Cole has anything to say about it. Reagan Cole has one successful defense under his belt so far, and he’s not willing to part ways with his championship just yet.

    FIFTH MATCH
    (1/30)
    Michael Garcia vs. Kayden Knox.
    Strap Match.
    (Match writer: Sayer)

Kayden Knox and Michael Garcia were a pairing put together thanks to The Elite Tag Team Classic, and later the duo were joined by The Undisputed Alliance as The Affliction. After initially setting out to dominate FWA, the group quickly broke down thanks to in-fighting, mostly centred around Michael Garcia's manipulative behaviour towards Kayden Knox. This culminated just after Desert Storm, when Garcia launched a vicious and unrelenting assault on the man he'd treated as his personal puppet over the previous weeks.

Attempting to take peripheral figures like Fight Night GM Lord Vincent and Knox's psychiatrist Dr. Grimes along with him for the ride, Garcia's rage knew no bounds when it came to locating Kayden Knox and continuing his vendetta against him. Knox was awaiting the challenge, though, presenting Garcia with a contract for a Strap Match in unique fashion at Steel City in Pittsburgh. Kayden finally made his much-awaited return on Curtain Call, when he momentarily faced down The Monster of the Midway, a clear indication that he would not be backing down from the man who has held strange sway over him for much of the last year.

    SIXTH MATCH
    (1/30)
    Gabrielle vs. Nova Diamond.
    Singles Match.
    (Match writer: SS)

The road to the latest addition to Back In Business card started in Desert Storm, where Gabrielle's loss to Saint Sulley has pushed her towards a path that would create many controversies inside the company. This new Gabrielle's declining mental state was not helped when she got eliminated from Carnal Contendership by a returning Nova Diamond. Her eliminator did not end up winning the match for the second time in a row, but unlike Gabrielle, he managed to land on a Top 7 spot and secured himself a place in the Golden Opportunity match.

Another controversy from the last couple of months involved Nova Diamond's decision to not wrestle until the match he had earned through CC. It was seen as a slap to the face of people like Gabrielle, who, despite her mental state, showed up every week to wrestle as she grabbed win after win. Despite her streak, however, Gabrielle did not have a clear path to Back In Business and not being at Paris could've signaled an end of an era for her. After some less-than-friendly comments from both sides, The Fallen Goddess of FWA decided the best way to get to the biggest show of the year was to challenge Nova for a match, though the man expressed clear disinterest whenever the topic was brought up.

That was until Curtain Call, where Gabrielle, after winning(?) her match against her former adversary Saint Sulley, have challenged Diamond again. Nova showed up and refused Gabrielle one more time, giving her no choice but to take more drastic measures. His calm demeanor was shattered once his blood was spilled, and an Uncomfortably Numb finally gave Gabrielle the answer she wanted to hear.

    MAIN EVENT: SEVENTH MATCH
    (1/60)
TxR (Danny Toner and Ryan Rondo) [c] vs. Golden Rock ('Rockstar' Randy Ramon and Devin Golden).
    Tag Team Match.
    FWA Tag Team Championships.
    (Match writer: TGO et al)

The FWA Tag Team Championships match is one year in the making — if you ignore the rest of the history between these four men. The Elite/Division Tag Team Classic tournament created a handful of new teams, yet only two of them lasted the entirety of 2020 and into 2021: the tournament winners, Golden Rock; and the Toner Brothers, who were revealed to be non-blood brothers when Donny Toner removed the mask to show Ryan Rondo's face.

Golden Rock held the titles from Mile High to Desert Storm, when these two teams clashed in an all-time classic. The Toner Brothers left with the titles, leaving Golden Rock again chasing a champion up the hill. Not to be forgotten, the path to Back in Business XV involved aforementioned Donny Toner's unmasking and reveal, "The Golden One" carving letters into another man's chest, "Rockstar" Randy Ramon showing an unhinged side by severely injuring Christian Quinn (who was faking as Donny Toner for a few weeks), and Danny "F'n" Toner's usual, crowd-pleasing antics.

That's not even mentioning the six-year drama that is the rivalry of Danny Toner and Randy Ramon, or the 11-year rivalry (yes, ELEVEN years) of Ryan Rondo and Devin Golden, both of which added another chapter in one-on-one contests at Fight Night: Curtain Call.

Or the fact Ramon and Golden were drafted to separate brands, which means this could be Golden Rock's last match as a tag team.

Yes, read all of that back and you can imagine how this match won the spot as Night 1 main event. So many twists and turns along the way, and looking back even to last summer, this matchup felt in many ways inevitable.

Rumor has it there will be a special stipulation added to the contest. We can only wonder and wait what else these four have in store — and more importantly, how epic their Back in Business main event showdown will be, for the most prestigious titles in all of tag team wrestling.

    NIGHT TWO
    Sunday 20th June, 2021.

    EIGHTH MATCH
    (-/--)
Saus X, Louis Valendar, Logan Darwin, Captain Fantasy, Donovan Moore, Sauce Man, Johnny Johnson, Joe Burr, and More.
    Gunfight Battle Royal Match.
Winner receives an FWA X Division Championship or FWA North American Championship shot on either Fallout or Meltdown.
    (Match writer: Man)

Whilst the Elimination Chamber match for the Golden Opportunity briefcase is on the horizon for after Back in Business, a golden opportunity awaits for the winner of the inaugural Gunfight Battle Royal. The winner will receive either an X Championship or North American Championship title shot, depending on which show they were drafted to.

The announced participants already create some interesting scenarios. The recent issues between Saus X, Donovan Moore and Louis Valander may finally come to a head. The newcomer who is making big waves, Logan Darwin will be considered one of the favourites, and it will also be interested to see if and how he interacts with Johnny Johnson during the match in what will be Johnson’s first appearance. Captain Fantasy has become a popular act and will have the backing of the crowd. Sauce Man and Joe Burr are two new signings that will also be making their FWA debuts at Back in Business.

Not only that, but as it is Back in Business there are sure to be some surprise entrants also throwing their hats into the ring.

    NINTH MATCH
    (1/--)
Chris Peacock [c]/Uncle J.J. JAY! vs. Gerald Grayson/Konchu Hao.
X Rules Match (No DQs, No Countouts, Falls Count Anywhere).
    FWA X Division Championship.
    (Match writer: Man)

After going through what will surely be hellacious X Rules Matches the previous night, the winners of the Semi Finals of the X Championship Tournament will need to step into the chaos once more with the winner leaving Back in Business with the championship.

Any possible combination of the four men participating in the tournament makes for a saliva-inducing match up, and who leaves Back in Business as the X Champion is anyone’s guess.

    TENTH MATCH
    (1/30)
Kleio De Santos vs. Lizzie Rose.
    Singles Match.
    (Match writer: Sulley)

This one goes all the way back to Ground Zero Season 2, when Kleio De Santos and Lizzie Rose appeared as contestents of Team Goddess and coached by Gabrielle Montgomery. Despite the fact that Kleio De Santos defeated Lizzie in a match to earn her spot in the finals, it was Lizzie who would get to compete on the final show after Kleio De Santos was disqualified due to her being under 18 years old.

Things got bitter when Kleio De Santos, now 18, fought Gabrielle Montgomery on Fight Night a couple months ago. Lizzie, who was at ringside, got defensive of Gabrielle and got pushy with De Santos. Since then the two girls have been at each other's throats in interviews and outside of them.

We saw a quick glimmer of reconciliation when they two were able to team up together and get a tag team win over The Crimson Knights, but that truce did not last long going into the last Fight Night. During Lizzie's match against Alyster Black, Kleio De Santos interfered by hitting Lizzie across the head with a steel chair. Never the less, it was Lizzie who got the last laugh heading into Back in Business when she was drafted 16th overall to the Meltdown brand, and KDS was drafted with the last pick at #30.

There is a lot of bitterness and tension between these two girls. The question remains, which of them is going to be able to get a huge win on the biggest stage of them all in their rookie season?

    ELEVENTH MATCH
    (1/60)
Cyrus Truth [c] vs. Eli Black.
    Singles Match.
    FWA North American Championship.
    (Match writer: Jimmy)

Eli Black and Cyrus Truth have been tied together since the beginning of the Elite Tag Team Classic. The two initially had success in this tournament, defeating the likes of The Affliction and the paring of Krash and Mike Parr. They were eventually eliminated at the semi-final stage, though, and since then the two have been locked in a bitter and mysterious dispute.

Eli Black claimed the biggest scalp of his career when he defeated Truth on the Crossfire Christmas special. Later, Cyrus first won the North American Championship in a four-way match involving Black alongside Alyster Black and Krash, eventually submitting Alyster at that match's climax. It was Desert Storm when Truth finally got his win back against The Artist, tying up the series at one apiece. This rubber match between Meltdown's #2 and #6 picks is about the North American Championship and much more.

    TWELFTH MATCH
    (1/30)
Yuna Funanori vs. Lord Vincent Takaab Blackbird.
    Singles Match.
If Lord Vincent loses, he's removed from his position as General Manager.
    (Match writer: AON)

It seems that at every turn, Lord Vincent Blackbird has been undermined at every opportunity by the resident pirate Princess Yuna Funanori, for near six months she has remained one step ahead of Vincent Blackbird. From conning him with many disguises, to destroying awards ceremonies, and ruining every single goal he tries to achieve and no matter what the GM threw it from of her somehow, someway, Yuna would find a way to come out on top....Clearly, unable to wield his power without Yuna constantly getting in the way, the die was cast. All or nothing.

A no disqualification match was made for Back In Business. Yuna Funanori...vs Lord Vincent Blackbird. If Vincent loses, he leaves the company. If Yuna loses? She becomes the personal servant of Lord Vincent Blackbird. With the stakes this high and no rules holding back maybe two of most mentally out there wrestlers in the world today, literally anything can happen, will the vicious mind of a man who once made every match on a PPV an exploding barbed wire cage match lead Vincent Blackbird to victory... and in the process crush the spirit of Yuna Funanori once and for all? Or will the devil may care and creativity "art" of Yuna Funanori unshackled by rules see the jolly roger flying high over Paris.

    THIRTEENTH MATCH
    (1/60)
    Chris Kennedy vs. Krash.
    Singles Match.
    (Match writer: ??)

Chris Kennedy's 8-0 streak at Back in Business is in big jeopardy as he faces off against the CWA Triple Crown Champion and FWA 2021 Draft #1 overall pick, Krash. Kennedy himself was picked at #2, and so this one-on-one contest is another with a Meltdown vs. Fallout component to it. Most interesting, though, is the question as to whether The White Wolf can overcome a man who has in turn defeated the likes of Cyrus Truth, Philip A. Jackson, WOLF, Stu St. Clair, and others on his way to that impressive Back in Business record.

Kennedy returned to Fight Night after Desert Storm and laid down an open challenge for the biggest even of the year, a challenge which Krash was all-too-eager to answer. Since then, the two have traded finishers at key moments over the past few weeks. Firstly, Chris Kennedy was the recipient of Krash's Razzle Dazzle super finisher at the Sin City event in Las Vegas, whilst 'The Astonishing One' fired back with his Bittersweet Chin Symphony on Curtain Call in New York.

Alongside a heated war of words between the two top draft picks, Krash looked as if he'd pick up the psychological advantage by weakening Kennedy up before his clash with Gang Star tag partner Alyster Black... a match that Kennedy would lose. Kennedy emerged triumphant over Dan Maskell to bounce back at Curtain Call, though, alongside laying Krash out following The White Wolf's loss to long-time rival Mike Parr.

Meltdown and Fallout have placed a lot of faith in these two men as FWA readies itself to embark on an exciting new chapter in its history. All eyes are turned onto this massive Night Two match. Will Krash be the man to finally defeat Chris Kennedy on the grandest stage in the sport? Or will 'The Astonishing' Kennedy show, yet again, why he has that moniker and move to 9-0 this year?

    MAIN EVENT: FOURTEENTH MATCH
    (2/60)
Saint Sulley [c] vs. Michelle von Horrowitz vs. Mike Parr.
    Three Way Dance Match.
    FWA World Heavyweight Championship.
    (Match writer: SS)

Eli Black and Cyrus Truth's tumultuous history dates all the way back to the start of the Elite Tag Team Classic, but on the same week that they first teamed together, Mike Parr was attacking MvH backstage, costing her the X Division Championship in the process. Many months later, Parr was revealed as the mystery assailant, and thus started one of the bloodiest rivalries of late 2020 and early 2021.

When Michelle von Horrowitz emerged victorious in the 2021 Carnal Contendership match, it looked as if Dreamer was leaving The Prodigy behind. A 1-0 victory in an X Rules Iron Man match saw Mike Parr add his name to this main event, though, and thus ensuring the continuation of this bitter feud. Saint Sulley, the FWA World Heavyweight Champion, has often remained aloof to the week-to-week antics of his two challengers, but last week made his presence felt in a big way by laying out both Parr and von Horrowitz in Radio City Music Hall.

Saint Sulley has hinted at retirement, and remained undrafted in yesterday's New York event. If he was to emerge triumphant in this match - which will be contested under elimination rules, as announced earlier today - would he leave the company as champion? What would management elect to do with the vacant belt? With von Horrowitz and Parr drafted to Meltdown and Fallout respectively at #6 and #7 overall, it will be interesting to see which brand will have the FWA World Heavyweight Champions amongst their ranks... if either of them.

Re: Back in Business XV | Card and Promo Discussion Thread

Kayfabe predictions based on a combination of what makes sense story-wise, what I'd prefer to see, and writer level:

Peacock def. J.J. JAY — Think the champ goes into the 2nd night still the champ.

Gerald Grayson def. Konchu Hao — Grayson goes to 2nd night to set up the one matchup we've yet to see from these four.

Dan Maskell def. Alyster Black — While Alyster may have the smallest of edges IMO in writer level, I'd love Maskell to go on a singles tear and own Meltdown to follow. If Alyster is truly focusing on tag, then a loss here doesn't hurt.

Reagan Cole def. Marcus McClain — Gip's heel turn aside, Cole gets some good run as Gauntlet champ. McClain always rebounds well from losses.

Garcia def. Knox — Purely from a storyline/preference standpoint, it would be awesome for Knox to go over Garcia here. Story-wise, it'd do wonders for Knox as a character to beat a former World champ at the biggest show of the year. But I think Sayer is due a win.

Nova Diamond def. Gabrielle — Nova gets big-match momentum entering the Golden Opp match. Gabrielle would do wonders teaming with Alyster and going for the tag titles after BIB, imo.

Golden Rock def. TxR — Biased.

Logan Darwin to win Gunfight Battle Royal — Toss-up between Darwin and Saus X for me. Either would be a fun one to win. Give Darwin the edge due to 2-0 start.

Gerald Grayson def. Chris Peacock — Would love GG to go into brand split as the X Champion and maybe we get a proper feud from Peacock and Grayson: two awesome faces fighting over Fallout's title. Would make an awesome main event for one of the first few shows.

Kleio de Santos def. Lizzie Rose — Toss-up but I think Kleio has more miles as a character up the card. Could see Kleio being a pretty dominant X champ in 2021.

Eli Black def. Cyrus Truth — Franchise has done it before so the fear of "up-and-comer topping a seasoned veteran" isn't there. Story-wise, it makes sense for heel Eli to take the NA title finally and defeat his long-time rival, allowing Cyrus to focus on other stuff, whether that be tag, blood feud, or a return to World title contendership. I think Franchise pulls it off, but I expect it to be very close.

Yuna def. Vincent — We've gotten miles out of the Yuna-Vincent angle but it's time to close the book on Vinnie as GM. He's worthless and doesn't even make matches anymore. Yuna gets a win in a (subjectively) fun feud befitting of her character vibe.

Kennedy vs. Krash — I honestly don't know who will win. Or whom I want to win.

MvH def. Sully and Parr — This has felt "in the cards" for nearly a year.

Re: Back in Business XV | Card and Promo Discussion Thread

Based on fan booking results instead of predicting who will have the better promos

Peacock def. J.J. JAY — The champ needs to retain after a lot of quick title switches

Gerald Grayson def. Konchu Hao — First time 1v1 + GG gets revenge for Madman's Mayhem

Dan Maskell def. Alyster Black — Maskell needs it more + Black has Gang Stars

Marcus McClain def Reagan Cole — McClain gets a title reign to pad his record but i dont think he goes the whole way

Garcia def. Knox — Knox fights as hard as he possibly can but is unable to take out former world champ big mike. still looks strong for how hard he fought

Nova Diamond def. Gabrielle — Gabrielle regrets what she asked for and finally loses. Nova is strong candidate for Golden Op

TxR def. Golden Rock — TxR move on to GS, Golden is distraught, Ramon wins Golden Opportunity

Captain Fantasy to win Gunfight Battle Royal — Captain Fantasy gets a chance at the Church of 9's champion (/spoiler for later). I think kayfabe his Garcia win sets him up for a good win. Logan Darwin is a great pick though as the veteran.

Chris Peacock def. Gerald Grayson — GG in my eyes should've moved on from the X title back when he first lost it. Peacock wins and we get a champ who can defend the belt again. GG loses a tough match but moves on to a Mike Parr feud (spoiler)

Lizzie Rose def. Kleio de Santos — Lizzie is master of the upset, Kleio still regrets smashing Lizzie with a chair and gives credibility to low draft pick

Eli Black def. Cyrus Truth — Eli Black proves he can do it and wins the NA title. Hard to tell how long his reign last but he gets his marque moment.

    Yuna def. Vincent — lol

Kennedy def. Krash — Match needs a bigger build-up/feel to it for Kennedy to lose. Krash bounces back for Gang Stars

MvH def. Sulley and Parr — The "prophecy" comes true. Sulley retires and is never seen again. Parr makes GG's life a living hell because he cant get his hands on MVH.

    Kayfabe Predictions as a fan

Peacock def. J.J. JAY —Peacock is white hot, and the title needs to be more stable going into the brand split

Gerald Grayson def. Konchu Hao — GG cause he seems invigorated after the Garcia win.

Dan Maskell def. Alyster Black — He needs this more

Reagan Cole def Marcus McClain— Cole wins cause he's on a more significant role than Big Mac

Garcia def. Knox — I'm liking Knox's character development and wouldn't mind him winning, but Garcia is best when he has a target, and he going to shoot to kill

Gabrielle def Nova — Gabrielle has tons of momentum, and is the most passionate about an opponent.

TxR def. Golden Rock — TxR other than MVH, no one hotter than Danny right now. I can't see them dropping the ball at BIB

Captain Fantasy to win Gunfight Battle Royal — yeah, he just the most talented dude in this, and he's a superhero!

Chris Peacock def. Gerald Grayson — same reason he beats Uncle

Lizzie Rose def. Kleio de Santos — Lizzie has more momentum and is considered the underdog. She thrives in this position

Cyrus Truth Def Eli Black - Truth proves he's been toying with Eli and crushes his hopes and dreams

Yuna def. Vincent — cause duh

Kennedy vs. Krash — I legit don't know

Sullivan defeats Parr and MVH- I think Sulley will shock the universe and upset the chosen one and the prodigy

Re: Back in Business XV | Card and Promo Discussion Thread

I've really enjoyed the kayfabe predictions I've seen. I figured Id have a go at it since this is the final event before I become an active member if the roster again.

    J.J. JAY def. Peacock
I think Peacock has had an amazing rookie year. One of the best I've seen in a while. But, I think J.J. Jay pulls out the upset victory and really causes us to walk into the brand split guaranteed with a new champ.

    Gerald Grayson def. Konchu Hao
Grayson scores the "W" here to setup the finals for night two. I think Konchu is an interesting character, but imo that's all he is. A character. U feel like Grayson benefits more from the "W".

Alyster Black def. Dan Maskell via DQ — WHile I think this wouldn't be the best thing for Alyster Black as a singles wrestler, I think this would be HUGE to get Maskell over as a big deal on Meltdown. Imagine, Maskell having a complete meltdown in this match and launching an assault on Black that can't be stopped by the officials leading to a disqualification.

    Reagan Cole def. Marcus McClain
I literally just want to see someone get closer to accomplishing the goal of what the Gauntlet championship was created for. If we don't get a Gauntlet champion to five wins by the end of 2021, I think the title needs to be retired or reworked.

    Garcia def. Knox
I think that Garcia wins this match but it works out the best for both of them. IMO this feud didn't help either of these guys because it seemed like they were just stuck. Garcia out of this feud can develop a new path and possibly get back in title contention. Knox can branch his character out and really establish himself.

    Nova Diamond def. Gabrielle
Honestly, I'm hoping Gabby continues her whole unstable gimmick and does the most unstable thing of all and just no-shows the whole event.

    Golden Rock def. TxR
Hear me out, Golden ROck win this match and we get a Golden Rock/Gangstars feud that I felt like we should have gotten.

    Gunfight Battle Royal
    IDK

Kleio de Santos def. Lizzie Rose
With no Gabby, I just don't see the point in Lizzie Rose still being around.

    Eli Black def. Cyrus Truth
This match is going to be CLOSE! I think that Eli pulls out the victory and we get a heel Cyrus Truth post BIB.

    Yuna def. Vincent
Blacbird has been the most useless authority figure I've seen in a while. Let's let this story just die and give Yuna something better to do.

    Krash def. Kennedy
Krash IS the guy - heel or face. Kennedy needs the victory but I think that Krash pulls it out - but tis is the match where we need to see either a real glimpse into heel Krash starting to show or just let him be the lovable face.

MvH def. Sully and Parr —
    It's inevitable

    Kayfabe Predictions as a Fan

Peacock def. J.J. JAY: Revenge is a dish best served with disco.

Konchu Hao def. Grayson: Konchu's a devious bastard and Chris has some business with him as well.

Dan Maskell def. Alyster Black: Never bet against the biggest bastard in wrestling

Marcus McClain def Reagan Cole: McClain needs a bit of a rub and a back-and-forth feud for the Gauntlet sounds fun

Garcia def. Knox: Big Match Mike shows up and makes a statement before the proper brand split

Gabrielle def Nova: Gabrielle continues to fool the FWA universe with this charade and scores another win

TxR def. Golden Rock: The band's breaking up along with the brand split

Sauce Man to win Gunfight Battle Royal: He has the sauce

Chris Peacock def. Konchu Hao: Revenge is a dish best served with disco, part 2!

Kleio def. Lizzie: Kleio wants to escape Sulley's shadow and will do everything necessary to do so.

Eli def. Truth: Eli ekes out a tough win on his own without interference. Will eventually lead to Eli realizing he doesn't need the Church and seeks a reformation.

    Yuna def. Vincent: Yep.

Kennedy vs. Krash: Love Krash, but never bet against Kennedy at BIB.

Parr defeats MVH and Sulley: Give the boy his fucking crown already.

Re: Back in Business XV | Card and Promo Discussion Thread

I feel like Sulley winning and then retiring would be the ultimate ending here. Maybe not from a story perspective but just to cap off the run the Dave Sullivan character has had. Though with Sulley being Sulley and MvH seeming destined for this from the moment she came to the FWA, I'm rooting for the underdog Mike Parr. To see him swoop in and 'steal' Michelle's moment away and crash Sulleys party would be quite something.

Michelle von Horrowitz: I want to get my one gripe out of the way first. Now as to be expected this is incredibly well written, as always. From a readers enjoyment perspective, from a story telling perspective, from everything along those lines it is a fantastic story. It grips the reader immediately and makes you want to keep reading, to see where the story goes and how you tie things into this World. But I feel a hesitation in calling it a promo.

I enjoy these style of promos, I've stated so numerous times in the past. Its fun to see someone take the FWA Universe and insert it into a different World incorporating the same character traits. But I think there's a limit to that, and to be blunt I think you've gone to this particular well one too many times. It feels like every big recent MvH promo is similar to this in that its taking the FWA Wrestlers and inserting them into a different World. I'll readily admit you're a far better writer than I am, so critiquing your work this heavily feels awkward. But this is a topic that has come up in FWA more and more, that things are often getting away from being a Wrestling promo, an E-fed promo / RP.

I want to read what the World Title means to MvH, what winning it would mean, what dethroning and retiring Saint Sulley would mean. And I didn't get that.

Now thats out of the way.

And despite everything I've said, just like every time I read one of these MvH stories it leaves me wanting to see more of this World. Its like we're getting a glimpse of a few chapters from a book, and I want to read the rest of the book. I want to see what happens next with this Michelle, and everything that happened before. Though I guess I can see that...But you know what I mean. Its all written so well, that its hard not to get sucked into this story and just enjoy this story in its own little World.

This was creative and did tell the story of Sulleys reign of terror / dominance and the history of Michelle and Parr. It spun those tales very well. That is the advantage to this type of story, is that you can rehash and look back upon the history of your feud without just having to list off or run down the exact history.

One question; are Ambroso and Isabella this take on Kennedy and Bell? I'm thinking that the forbidden lines and stealing away the night together was a nod at the Bell Connolly and MvH feud being that in a way.

Re: Back in Business XV | Card and Promo Discussion Thread

Thank you for the feedback, ETE, I much appreciate it. Spoilers for my promo here-after...

Just to address the non-addressing of the world title. I attempted to do that through having Grayson, the bridge, and Spain itself represent the world championship in this promo. Grayson and Spain because Sulley currently has dominion over both of them, and Parr/MvH are trying to wrestle this away from him. Sulley's willingness to 'burn the countryside to the ground' rather than having the leftists control it is a comment on his retirement and the implications for the World Championship. The prisoner Grayson representing 'hope' and Sulley keeping it locked away from the would-be usurpers again is about his endless control of the championship and thus the fed, and Grayson's eventual fate again is meant to represent Sulley's retirement and his unwillingness to let the rest of the roster inherit what he's clung onto for so long. There's a passage about Sulley holing himself away which is (more obviously) about his reign with the title. The bridge itself is meant as a direct metaphor for the world championship being the bridge between the brands' independent rosters, and the Meltdown band blowing it up symbolises MvH's ultimate intentions to keep it from Fallout and Sulley himself, who is of course without a brand.

Asombroso (which is Spanish for Amazing, or Astonishing) and Isabella are indeed meant to be Kennedy and Bell. There's a few hints strewn through that the ultimate betrayal in the story is actually Asombroso and not El Prodigio, which is meant as foreshadowing now that the pair are both Meltdown. The Bella subplot here is a continuation from Desert Storm's Belle subplot from the western, hinting at more behind their chemistry than the vitriol present in the feud (which is something I tried to convey in the Mile High Bell promo). I think this is actually only my second such promo with it being set in a different world after the Desert Storm one, and I had intended a trilogy spread out across the year (hence the part one above the DS promo and part two here). MvH is the Dreamer after all, and these are meant to be images from those dreams hinting at Michelle's subconscious' view on current events as opposed to a more direct monologue (which would ultimately be less honest as it's what the character wants to convey, as opposed to how she's feeling).

This reply wasn't meant to argue or complain about your feedback haha... just wanted to express that I tried to talk a lot about the world championship in this promo in a more indirect way than usual. Whether that was successful is another question!

Glad you enjoyed the RP overall (which I think is probably a better term because you're right in that this isn't much of a promo). Appreciate the review. I will return the favour when you post.

EDIT: Actually I'll review anyone that reviews anyone else this card.

I'm so glad you broke it down because I figured out some stuff but didn't get that the bridge was the world title or that those were references to Kennedy. This makes me have more appreciation for the promo
