I have liked Rave in the past, but I've also really disliked his wrestling. He had a good period in the mid 00s where he was good but he was also frequently wrestling other guys in this tournament.

I don't want to see the Rock go too far because his longevity really hurts him. But at their respective peaks, Rock was a lot better.

You have to give Rave that he was a fantastic heat magnet for a smark audience and didn’t attract it just for being mediocre like a Corbin or Mike Bennett type. The toilet paper instead of streamers

Just gonna throw that bone since this’ll be a clear Rock squash.

Agreed. The few times I've done BTBer's I've used Rave & Nana due to how effective they were in this period. Not a super worker but held up his end and didn't drag anyone down.

I'm one of those that didn't find Rocky that good in the ring. Outside of making the Stunner look really powerful, I just didn't like his in-ring performances even if I loved the build ups to the matches haha.
I have a plan so cunning......

I hated his stunner sell. Always found it over the top. Rock himself is over the top but it just goes past the line for me.

I love Rock though. For a short period of matches, he has a ton of great ones. The HHH feud has plenty, including an Iron man match that was the best in their history, I think his I Quit match with Mankind is up there as one of the better WWF title matches. I kind of love that he hit Foley way more than he was supposed to as well . The Austin series at Backlash, WM 17 and WM 19 are all excellent. And the WM 15 match is really good too. The Brock match at Summerslam is the first great Brock match, and still one of his stand outs. Thinking about it, his Evolution vs Rock n Sock Connection match at WM XX is one of my favourite matches of that show. Short peak but its a hell of a lot of matches that anyone would love to have on their resume.

Rock's lack of years is going to halt him going far in this tournament, but he's got enough to see off Rave here.

Going with Rave. Rock's highs are much higher and he's maybe the most charismatic worker of all time, and that does count for a LOT for me, but Rave is a better nuts and bolts guy. He wasn't a top tier guy in the indy scene like an Aries or Joe or Nigel but was REALLY GOOD more often than not and delivered in the big matches when it counts. Plus from what I've seen of his post-ROH life he's still a pretty good worker in his veteran years, whereas Rock's post-comeback stuff actively stunk and does him no favours with me.

Jimmy Rave in 2015 had a strong case for being the best wrestler in the world that year.

Re: WCBNAINWOATT Round 1: The Rock vs Jimmy Rave

On paper this seems ridiculous considering the large gap in star power but I went with Rave as well. Rock was amazingly charismatic but had only a few years and even then was never a top tier worker in a company that wasn't built around in-ring at all. Rave was never a star but in-ring could almost always be counted on and was a workhorse for over a dozen years. I didn't love him as a BITW like some people, but will go with him over Rock.
