Yet the Tories will somehow poll even higher after this in England.

What do we reckon tomorrow then? Delay, or Freedom Day goes ahead as scheduled?

I think delay (against it though personally), I'm just hoping it's not 4 weeks like it's being touted.

Makes no difference to me as we're following our own rules. I would guess at a delay though as this variant is spreading quite easily if it isn't contained. We do have it in Wales but it is seemingly being contained. I think everyone really needs to be looking at restrictions on a borough by borough basis but that's just me.
I have a plan so cunning......

I wish this was viable as we've had some of the lowest rates in the country throughout this pandemic. Unfortunately, all those Londoners piling into trains and helicopters last year when they went from tier 2 to 4 shows why it isn't practical. It has to be one sweeping rule for everyone, annoyingly.

Looks to be delayed for around 4 weeks. No idea why the government has set dates all the way through this just to delay time and time again.

Business need something to aim for so they can plan. You can't just announce, "Well next week the rules are changing", which is what they did for most of last year. You need to have a road-map.

I feel for the businesses affected by the delay, which is venues/pubs/bars, but ultimately the delay is the right call. The idea is that this opening is 'irreversible', meaning no more lockdowns. It will remain to be seen if that holds, but it's better to get it right and delay by a few weeks than undo months of progress.
