Re: Wrestlemania 24 Thoughts and Opinions

- I thought JBL/Finlay was a solid opener, and a ton of stiff looking shots in that one. That shot where JBL threw the trashcan at Hornswaggle from over the ropes had me and my buddies rolling. The poor guy didn't even see it coming!!

- MITB was a hot match, lots of innovative stuff being done with the ladders. Just when I thought they have done everything possible with ladders, they invent some new stuff. Matt Hardy coming in wasn't something I expected (I didn't see the thread about what he said at the Bagels Brunch until this morning), but it made sense he cost MVP his shot at the briefcase. Nice to see Punk win, an unexpected finish for me. Would like to see him cash it in on Smackdown sometime before Wrestlemania. He could always cash it in during next years WM as well.

- Didn't really care much for the Batista/Umaga match. That powerbomb he did on Umaga to end the match was horrible. The guy was rushing it, and as a result fell over as he was powerbombing him. Blah, Batista should be sent to the depts of ECW.

- Flair/HBK. What a great match. Started off slow a bit in the beginning with a lot of holds. The bump Michaels took when he flipped back onto the announce table looked SICK. I thought he would have had the wind knocked out of him there. Ton of figure fours in it, and every time the hold was on, the crowd went wild. Lot of emotion in this match, and when HBK was setting up for the Sweet Chin Music, and said "I'm sorry, I love you"...christ my heart skipped a beat. The look on Flair's face after getting pinned, you could tell he was starting to ball. All in all, thought this was a great way to end Flair's career, and he went out looking really good at the biggest event of the year.

- I'm sure they told Kane/Chavo before their match: "We're running low on time. Your match is given about...eh...15 seconds." The entrances took longer than the match!! I'm fine with Kane winning, now give people like Shelton and Elijah Burke a chance at competing. Send Chavo back to SD or something. Who cares.

- The best part of the Diva's match was the pretty impressive clothesline from Snoop Dogg. When he was kissing Maria after the match, was anyone else like.."Uh..he has a wife and she's probably backstage somewhere." I mean, they even announced before the match that Snoop had his own reality tv show with his wife and kids. Just seemed pretty awkward. Maria is a home wrecker. Ashley is crap, enough said. I'm surprised the heels won this one, but who really cares anyway? Santino = Ratings.

- Show/Maywether: I guess they handled it pretty much how it made sense to. Lots of interference from Floyd's posse, and they really made him look like a little weasel by trying to leave the match. Show was just embarrasing him in the beginning, and toying around with him. Figured it would come back to bite him in the ass. Pretty good looking shot with the knucks from Maywether.

- WWE Title: I was happy to see Orton retain. I'm surprised how little time this match was given. Taking out the time for entrances, I would say about 15 minutes max. Looked good to see Orton squriming his way to "pick up Trips' pieces" and getting the pin after the Pedigree from H. Not used to seeing Cena looking up at the lights, but I was glad we didn't see a title change here. Orton needed this win the most.

- WHC Match: This was a good one. They wrestled for a solid 30 minutes I think. Ton of reversals and near falls, I loved it. I hate that Triangle hold move that Taker has been using. I would have much rather seen him win it with the Tombstone, but oh well. His entrance is still the coolest in all of wrestling, though.

Kim Kardashian looked SO out of place there. Why was she given a spot on this PPV? I loved the interview backstage with kennedy. If I was Kennedy, I would have gone back a few extra times when she tried talking with...."KENNEDY........KENNEDY.....KENNEDY...." etc.

Re: Wrestlemania 24 Thoughts and Opinions

I think the biggest surprise was Orton retaining I am really pleased for Kane as he deserves a title but seriously , only a 6 second match for the ECW championship poor Chavo. Also massively pleased for Punk I think he has to go after the WWE Championship now.

While it was a suprise to see CM Punk win I don't know if I agree with it. I don't see him cashing in the Money In The Bank until ECW or Smackdown gets a heel champion again. The only exception is if Triple H goes heel and wins the title within the year. The idea of Orton and CM Punk headlining a PPV especially for the Raw brand just does not fly.

Worst match of the night easily. All the blame should not be put on Batista though as Umaga seemed less than stellar as well. However, this has always been Batista's problem. He is almost never able to carry a good singles match without the opponent being better or more experienced (i.e. Undertaker and Triple H).

I'm tired of people saying this was a good match. The fact is it was decent because Shawn Michaels almost killed himself and over sold to make the match good. Flair looked sloppy in the ring at many points and even though he has done a lot for the business this was a long time coming. Working 35 years at any job is too long and you could see it in this match.

Agreed with giving Shelton a push especially after what he did in the Money In The Bank. I also agree on Elijah Burke but he just needs more time. As far as Chavo goes if you move him back to Smackdown why not let him feud with Matt Hardy after he finishes with MVP.

Santino is pure gold. As far as I am concerned he should be Intercontinental Champion now. Santino has not had a bad promo in a long time and he actually is a decent wrestler. As far as the best part of the match I would have to say it was not Snoop and Maria but when Beth Phoenix picked up Melina and flipped her on top of Maria.

That was suprisingly good with the big difference in size and the lack of wrestling ability in regards to Mayweather. My only problem with the match was that Mayweather wrestled in Chinchila fur. Now, what do you do with Big Show is the question?

Great match, great ending. It was good to see Orton win as well. However, I would have made this the last match especially since it was the most hyped title match.

This was a good match, but I think people weren't interested in this match as much as the Triple Threat. The ending though was good no one expected Edge to tap out and it was good to see Edge counter many of Undertaker's moves.

Re: Wrestlemania 24 Thoughts and Opinions

I watched it Live & i want those four hours back.

JBL beating Finlay does nothing for anyone. Finlay winning with Hornswaggle by his side would have made sense but no, JBL wins for nothing.

The MITB was the highlight of the nite. Punk winning was a big suprise but welcomed. With MVP stalling at the top of the ladder Hardy was obvious.

Batista vs Umaga was ok. The finish was very weak to.

Ric Flair vs Michaels was a great match. Just bearly missing out to MITB for MOTN. Flair looked as if he can still go but thankfully he wont.

BunnyMania was rubbish. The best part was when the lights went out midway.

The ECW title match was beyond a joke. If thats what happens if you visit your family in your own time is it any wonder so many people have bad things to say about WWE when they leave? Despite builing CM Punk earlier in the show, this killed his credibility. Punk couldent get the title back from Chavo, it takes Kane less than 30 seconds. Punk looks like a loser now as well as Chavo.

The Raw title match was better than i thought it would be. The finish was well done & the only way Orton was keeping the gold. Cena's entrance sucked btw.

Mayweather vs Big Show went waaaay too long.

Undertaker has to be booking his own matches now. Despite his shoulders clearly being down the ref doesnt count so he can apply his poor submission hold. Edge was on top of 'taker for easily a ten count. Edge should have won.

Re: Wrestlemania 24 Thoughts and Opinions

I plan on watching it again tonight as I missed the MITB match, the Baturdsta match and the JBL match. I also had some pretty poor quality for other portions of the show so I will be watching it again.

I was very suprised to see Orton retain. I really NEVER saw that ending coming. I will admit they pulled a good one off on me last night. I thought that was actually a really good match.

All in all, I really want to see it again in better quality before I toss my full review out there.

DD's Favorite of All Times

I finally played live and it was fantastic.

Re: Wrestlemania 24 Thoughts and Opinions

The Belfast Brawl was an interesting choice for the opener, WWE goes with way more title matches to open than they do gimmick matches. Decent match, nothing special and didn't really do the apparent emotion of the feud justice with no blade job. JBL winning was a surprise, hopefully that doesn't mean this feud is continuing.

MITB was terrific, very impressed with Morrison and Shelton in particular. Definitely a WM worthy match and probably on par with the first MITB match. I wrote about CM Punk winning earlier in this thread.

Batista vs Umaga was a very bad match for the potential it had. Batista winning, especially considering the quick and somewhat, is meaningless.

Flair vs HBK was a tremendous match, so many false finishes. WM 24 will be remembered for this match.

My stream wasn't working very well for Bunnymania or at all for the WWE Title match, will definately have to download the latter. I'm not against Orton retaining because for whatever reason I'm just not feeling Triple H right now. I think the title ends up on Cena in the end unless he takes it from Orton following the filming of his movie and goes on to drop it to a heel Triple H.

My stream started working again towards the end of Mayweather vs Big Show. Surprised to see Floyd take the punishment he did and dominate the end as he did. NODQ was a good move for this match.

Main event was solid but the commentary and crowd just didn't have the WM main event feel to it. They did a decent job of convincing me that Edge could win (not nearly as good as Orton at WM21) but Taker winning was the right move. Glad to see they kept this one on one for the most part. Also, Taker's gogoplata submission needs to go.

Re: Wrestlemania 24 Thoughts and Opinions

I didn't think the Belfast Brawl worked very well either. I was happy to see JBL come out of it, because he has the best chance of getting a decent push down the road.. but it didn't have as much emotion or drama you'd expect from a rivalry in which a son was beaten half to death..

That and Umaga/Batista was the only shit that wasn't too great. As I stated previously in this thread, I liked everything else very much so..

Jayman, Kim Kardashian was there to please me.. that was her role.

Man, I LOVED about 4 matches at least.. I want to watch it all over again. Shocked as hell with Floyd Mayweather. With a little work, he'd be one of the top heels in the entire business. The guy is just great.
