FUNKS' CORNER - TNA CELEBRATES "SLAMMIVERSARY" ON JUNE 18
“Slamiversary,” TNA’s fourth anniversary celebration, comes to Pay Per View on Sunday, June 18th with another challenge for Christian Cage - who will have been NWA World Champion for 126 days which is a short time as compared to “Old School” days. I was NWA World Champion for more than four years or 1502 consecutive days. This will be Christian’s toughest challenge yet as he faces a unique wrestling concept that I never had to face as NWA World Champion. Christian will virtually have to give up the NWA World Championship Title during the King of the Mountain match. There will be no “Champion’s Advantage.“ Christian is aware that no NWA World Champion has ever entered the King of the Mountain match and walked away NWA World Champion. In the past, the NWA World Title has always changed hands. Christian’s recent challenger Abyss is the first to qualify for the King of the Mountain battle for the NWA World Championship.
In another match of international interest, Team 3D - current All Japan Pro-wrestling Real World Tag Team Champions, an honor also held by Terry Funk and myself - will be facing The James Gang in a return match.
What a great four years it's been so far for TNA Wrestling! I was in attendance at the first TNA wrestling show in Huntsville, Alabama, and I will never forget that night. With the first match in the ring and the countdown to live TV Pay Per View at seven minutes, one of the cables under the ring snapped and the four ring posts tilted loosely to the center of the ring. The ring ropes sagged like limp clothes lines in a skid row back yard. With a ring that was unusable, the countdown continued with the live Pay Per View in only five minutes. The ring crew headed up by Don Harris took control and miraculously had the ring back in shape just as the Pay Per View came on the air. Were it not for Don Harris and his crew, the live Pay Per View may have been canceled, lots of money lost and we might not be looking forward to Slammiversary, TNA’s fourth anniversary on Pay Per View.
The performance by the ring crew was typical of the performance we have come to expect from TNA, the whole company every time out.
With Slammiversary three weeks away, I encourage you to watch iMPACT! every week on Thursdays at 11:00pm on SpikeTV! And continue to visit TNA’s website at

Once again, the rules of the King of the Mountain Match:
In effect, it is a reverse ladder match – but it’s not so simple. To win you must scale the ladder and hang the title above the ring. You can pin or make your opponent submit to put them in a penalty cage for two minutes. All stars battle at the same time - falls count anywhere. You must score at least one pinfall or submission before you become eligible to hang the championship and win the match.
Defending NWA World Champion - Christian Cage
Qualified for King of the Mountain - Abyss with James Mitchell
Challengers Yet to Qualify - Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Ron Killings, Monty Brown, Scott Steiner and Raven
The NWA World Champion has lost his title in all previous King of the Mountain matches.
Will Christian Cage’s NWA World Championship reign end at 126 days?
