Does Jeff Hardy actually have a shot at beating Randy Orton at the Royal Rumble?
It would be really interesting to see if you ask me, and I would literally be shocked to see it happen. All the more reason to do it in my opinion. Hardy has never ever been considered a great mic guy, but he always made up for it with moves.
This isnt a thread about Hardys overall character, but is the WWE ready to start giving us what we DONT expect? How many years now have the WWE given us obvious wins now? Nothing comes as a suprise anymore.
Hardy beats Orton, HHH turns heel and earns his title shot somehow to face Hardy at Mania.
Think about it.

I think the match will be interesting to say the least. I don't expect Hardy to win, but I don't expect to see Orton win clean.. so what will WWE do? Where does Jeff go from here? He's had a huge run of late but I don't think WWE is ready to have him main event a Wrestlemania. This isn't so much on slight on Hardy as being a world champion, there's a difference between being champ and being the champ come Mania.
Maybe he'll come real close to winning and Orton cheats to win. Then as a shock, Hardy wins the Rumble and gets another shot at WM. I'd find that amusing.

I say let Jeff win, Orton enters and wins the Rumble. Jeff has been known to go the distance at previous Mania's. If WWE is finally gonna start improving they need to do something like this. Hardy has a huge fan base and granted most of them are young kids and teenage girls it will help in the long run I think.
They need to stop putting over Trips and others to FINALLY give the mid carders that chance they deserve.

I'm thinking it's a bad thing to put the belt on Jeff at this stage unless you're going to do something "whacky" like having him main eventing Mania.
It will do nothing for Orton or the belt to have him lose then win the title (especially being that with "Poochie" Hunter in tow he's probably losing it anyway another two months later!).
Personally I think this programme is a test one to see if Jeff fits easily into the main event spotlight.

Jeff needs to drop the IC belt as soon as possible as whilst he's holding it, he won't win the WWE Title.
Once he's dropped it then i can see him winning the big one but not until then.

Re: Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton @ The Royal Rumble
I certainly wouldn't take it off of him right now. He's likely not winning the belt at the Rumble, he's likely out of the main event scene on the build to Mania.....take the IC off him now and in a few weeks time he could end up with nothing.

Jeff certainly doesn't have the look of a WWE Champion, but I have seen worse champs I suppose. Don't think he will win the title at Rumble either. Instead, I think Jeff should get involved with another upper-mid carder over the IC title, and make it worth something. Actually defend the IC title at Wrestlemania (I believe it's been a while since this has happened).
I like the intriuge of a Matt vs. Jeff program for the IC title. Wouldn't necessarily have to turn one heel, but put a "family rivalry" spin on it. Maybe Matt gets jealous of Jeff's popularity and shot at a title. After Jeff loses at RR, Matt makes some under-the-breath comment about how he didn't think Jeff really could beat Orton. This could spark a "feud" between the two.

Re: Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton @ The Royal Rumble
With Matt hopefully engaging MVP on his return, a conclusion to that feud is very much needed, I would be happy to see Jeff going to and fro with Umaga up to and including Mania. They have such awesome matches with each other, Jeff makes a great "face in peril".
Failing that, if they have eyes on keeping him high up the roster I'd be happy to see him match up against someone like HBK at Mania. Especially if it involved a ladder match?
