Giving a well known legend like Funk a "gimmick" like that. Interfere at HiaC and setup him and Taker at WM24. He can make a heel arguement he is still undefeated as he was taken out injured at last years. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

True, as we've said before, they royally fucked up that part of the feud last year for almost absolutely nothing.
There was zero point Orton or Edge being out there for the MiTB match, especially being that all it lead to was Edge losing his winning streak at Mania.
I do however, bet that they will try and go along the lines of Edge being undefeated at Mania, and (if they do) that will be extremely lame.

John Cena is also undefeated at Mania and all of his matches have been title matches

They probably will. Five wins and no defeats at Mania though is something that doesn't happen to a lot of people and it would have great to have logically tied it in with Taker's run (as opposed to lamely saying "well he wasn't pinned at Mania ever".....screw WWE Creative!!).
It would have also played out great in the segments they could have written for it given Edge's aliance to the Corporation in the past. And how he helped Taker hang Bossman all those years ago. That would have all helped in the story telling.
As for Cena, I just don't think Cena-Taker would be as hot a selling point as the above. Partly also because those two have faced off on a number of occasions and I can't think of any high profile match of any kind between Edge and Taker.
