Armageddon predictions contest

We are only offering prizes for the big 4 PPV prediction contests (Royal Rumble, Mania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series). Prediction threads will still occur for the other PPV's (for fun only). This is the Last such thread. As more matches as announced, they will be added to this thread. State the person(s) who you think will win their match. In the event of a tie, also state how they will win it. An overall leaderboard will be created and maintained for these "fun-only" PPV's, through-out the year.

Randy Orton vs. Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell Match
December 18, 2005

At Armageddon, Randy Orton will travel to a place he’d rather not be: Hell. For on Dec. 18, the Legend Killer has a date with arch-nemesis Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell.

Earlier this year, Randy Orton was searching for an opponent for WrestleMania 21. Superstar Billy Graham advised him to make an impact, and this led to Orton challenging Undertaker. Undertaker was victorious on that night, but that was only the beginning of a war that would rage on for months.

In mid-July, Orton was drafted to SmackDown in the 2005 Draft Lottery, and immediately made his presence felt by delivering a thunderous RKO to the Deadman, costing him a chance to fight for the World Heavyweight Championship. And at SummerSlam, Orton returned from a shoulder injury and evened the score by defeating Undertaker. It was assumed that the war was over, but it only escalated from there.

After claiming to have retired Undertaker after their August battle, the Deadman returned angrier than ever. At No Mercy, the two had a Casket Match to settle the score. Randy and father Cowboy Bob Orton managed to defeat Undertaker, but then in a heinous display, wheeled the casket into the entranceway and lit it on fire! It was assumed that Undertaker was burned alive, but when the Ortons opened the charred casket later that night, the Deadman was nowhere to be found.<SCRIPT type=text/javascript>DisplayAd("LargeBody");</SCRIPT>

It was promised that Undertaker would make his return at Survivor Series; and on Nov. 27, after Randy Orton was the sole survivor in the RAW vs. SmackDown Survivor Series Match, Undertaker emerged from a flaming coffin to extract his revenge on the Legend Killer.

Just two days later on a SmackDown Special, Undertaker came out to help Rey Mysterio fend off Big Show & Kane. Ever the opportunist, Orton emerged to attack Undertaker with a tire iron, leaving the Deadman slumped on the trunk of a low-rider. In an even more sickening display, Orton then backed the low-rider through the stage and into a bank of electrical equipment, which exploded and once again appeared to burn Undertaker alive.

That week on Friday Night SmackDown, Orton gloated about his accomplishment, but his boastfulness was short lived. After Orton defeated Matt Hardy, a familiar gong rang out, and Undertaker’s voice spoke from the heavens. A bewildered Orton tried to head to the locker room, but a lightning bolt struck and drove him throughout the arena. After some mind games, including Orton seeing himself in a casket, Undertaker announced that he was taking Randy to Hell….Hell in a Cell. Later that night, Theodore Long confirmed that Undertaker and Orton would meet inside the Cell at Armageddon.

This will be the Deadman’s sixth venture inside the Cell, while Orton has never been in this kind of match. Can Undertaker use the stipulation to his advantage and finally vanquish his foe, or will the Legend Killer overcome the odds and strike again? Tune into Armageddon on Dec. 18 to find out what destiny has in store for these two adversaries.

Batista & Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show & Kane
December 3, 2005

SmackDown will have another RAW invasion at Armageddon, as World Heavyweight Champion Batista & Rey Mysterio will take on RAW’s World Tag Team Champions, Big Show & Kane.

Since WWE Homecoming, the rivalry between RAW and SmackDown has been quite explosive. At RAW’s last pay-per-view, Taboo Tuesday, SmackDown defeated RAW twice as Mysterio & Matt Hardy defeated Snitsky & Chris Masters and The Animal won his Street Fight with Coach. In the weeks leading up to Survivor Series, RAW vented their frustrations by attacking the World Heavyweight Champion. On the RAW before Survivor Series, Big Show & Kane chokeslammed Batista through a car windshield, exacerbating his already injured back and shoulder. Just four days later on SmackDown, the World Tag Team Champions struck again, this time sending The Animal through the announce table. However, when Survivor Series rolled around, Batista, Mysterio and the rest of Team SmackDown still pulled out the victory over Big Show, Kane, and Team RAW.

Two nights after Survivor Series, Mysterio and Big Show locked horns once again on a SmackDown Special. As Mysterio seemed headed for victory, Kane made his presence felt and the RAW monsters dominated the smaller Rey, injuring his ribs. That Friday night on SmackDown, Mysterio enlisted JBL as his partner to battle Big Show & Kane, but after JBL walked out on the match, the World Tag Team Champions easily defeated the weakened Mysterio.

They weren’t satisfied after their victory, however, as the monsters continued their assault. As they set Rey up for a double-chokeslam on a chair, Batista made his way to the ring, delivering a spinebuster to Kane and using the chair on Big Show. After the RAW team fled the ring, Batista & Mysterio celebrated in the ring. Immediately afterward, the match was signed for Armageddon.<SCRIPT type=text/javascript>DisplayAd("LargeBody");</SCRIPT>

Can Batista & Mysterio keep SmackDown’s momentum going, or will the World Tag Team Champions finally earn a victory for RAW? Order Armageddon on Dec. 18 to find out.

On the Dec. 2 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, six teams entered a Tag Team Battle Royal for a shot at the ultimate prize: a chance to face MNM for the WWE Tag Team Championship at Armageddon.

After outlasting four other teams, it came down to The Dicks against Super Crazy & Psicosis of the Mexicools. When it appeared that Chad & James Dick had Psicosis eliminated, he used a little ingenuity. Grabbing a Dick with each leg, Psicosis pulled the duo over the top rope, earning the Mexicools the victory and the match with MNM at Armageddon. The Mexicools then taunted the champions, who were watching the Battle Royal from ringside.

With Juventud already the Cruiserweight Champion, can Super Crazy & Psicosis add more gold to the Mexicools camp, or will MNM hold on to their championship? Tune in on Dec. 18 to find out

Booker T vs. Chris Benoit in Match No. 4 of a Best-of-Seven Series
December 19, 2005

On Dec. 18, Chris Benoit faces a sudden-death situation when he meets Booker T in Match No. 4 of their Best-of-7 Series for the United States Championship.

Booker and Benoit were once the best of friends, but Booker showed a more vicious side of himself after defeating the Wolverine on Oct. 21 to win the United States Championship. After seeing footage of Sharmell’s interference helping him to victory, Booker called out Benoit to seemingly apologize. Instead, the new champion attacked his former friend, laying him out and hitting the Wolverine with the United States Championship.

Theodore Long ordered a rematch, and on the Nov. 25 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the match came to a controversial conclusion. It appeared as if both men had the other pinned, and two separate referees counted the pin. After assessing the situation, Long ordered the championship vacated, and announced a Best-of-7 Series, with the winner becoming the undisputed United States Champion.

At Survivor Series, Booker took an early 1-0 lead, as Sharmell’s interference again helped Booker to victory. Two nights later on the SmackDown Special, another Booker victory gave him a 2-0 advantage.<SCRIPT type=text/javascript>DisplayAd("LargeBody");</SCRIPT>

On the Dec. 12 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the third match of the series came to another controversial end. After an errant kick by Booker T knocked the referee unconscious, Benoit locked the Crippler Crossface on his foe. Sharmell grabbed a chair and rushed the ring, but the Wolverine saw her advance and rebuffed her. However, he left himself open to an ambush from behind, and a recovered Booker T blasted Benoit with the chair. He then hit a Scissors Kick, and revived the referee to gain the three count and a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. Later that night, it was announced that Match No. 4 would take place at Armageddon.

Down 3-0, Benoit must win four matches in a row to win the series. Can the Wolverine finally climb into the win column on Dec. 18, or will Booker T complete the sweep to regain the United States Championship? Order Armageddon on Dec. 18 to find out.

Juventud vs. Kid Kash for the Cruiserweight Championship
December 18, 2005

At Armageddon, Kid Kash looks to complete a meteoric rise to the top when he faces Juventud for the Cruiserweight Championship.
On the Dec. 9 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Kash made his intentions known that he wanted Juventud. As the Mexicools were celebrating following Super Crazy’s victory over Joey Mercury, Kash attacked the Cruiserweight Champion, laying him out with a brainbuster.
The next week, after the Cruiserweight Championship Match was announced, Kash defeated Super Crazy with a brainbuster. As he tried to continue the assault after the bell, however, Juventud & Psicosis ran out to save their compadre, leading to a stare down between champion and challenger.
Kash has been tearing up Velocity since his WWE debut; can he win the big one at Armageddon, or will Juventud walk out with the gold still around his waist? Be sure to order Armageddon on Dec. 18 to find out.

JBL vs. Matt Hardy
December 18, 2005

In recent weeks, JBL has made a habit of running away from his tag team partners. He won’t be able to run at Armageddon when he meets Matt Hardy one on one.
On the Dec. 16 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, JBL interrupted Matt Hardy as Hardy conducted an interview prior to his match. Hardy didn’t take kindly to JBL or his alleged knee injury, commenting that JBL should run away like he has been in recent weeks. After JBL smacked Hardy and began to address the fans, Matt sparked a brawl that had to be separated by WWE officials.
Later that night, JBL sat in on commentary for Hardy’s match with Booker T. As Sharmell distracted the referee, JBL delivered the Clothesline from Hell to Hardy, allowing Booker to get the victory.
Can Hardy get his revenge at Armageddon, or will JBL prevail? Be sure to order Armageddon on Dec. 18 to find out.

*NO MORE MATCHES WILL BE ADDED TO THE CONTEST AT THIS LATE STAGE*

Hell In A Cell
The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
Prediction: Undertaker by Pinfall
While Randy should win this one due to the fact that he's still very early into his career and Taker's in his last years as a wrestler, Taker put over Randy in their last match, so he's due a receipt. Plus, a loss to Taker wouldn't really damage Randy at this point, especially in a HIAC match. If Taker takes this one, I predict one last match between these two at No Way Out or Wrestlemania to have Randy come out of this feud as the victor.

Interpromotional Tag Match
Batista & Rey Mysterio vs. Kane & The Big Show
Prediction: Batista & Rey by DQ
I don't see a clean finish here. Neither team should do the job here. Batista is Smackdown's star attraction, Rey is on the rise and really should be a title contender soon, and Kane & Show have been booked excellently since winning the tag titles. I'm hoping for some kind of miscommunication between Mysterio & Batista to come out of this that would lead to a World Title match between the two at the Royal Rumble.

Match 4 in the Best of 7 Series for the U.S. Championship
Booker T vs. Chris Benoit
Prediction: Chris Benoit by submission
Easy one here - Booker's up 3-0, so it's time for a Benoit rally.

WWE Tag Team Championship
MNM vs. Psicosis & Supercrazy
Prediction: Mexicools by pinfall
The tag division still blows, MNM needs a legit team to feud with, so I predict that the Mexi's will get more gold.
