Rep Power: 17 ![]() | WWE Royal Rumble 2005 Prediction Contest - Now Closed. WWE ROYAL RUMBLE 2005 - JANUARY 30, 2005 ![]() This is the official thread for placing your WWE Royal Rumble 2005 predictions. State the person(s) who you think will win their match and how you think they will win (i.e. DQ, pinfall, submission). For the Rumble match itself, predict the winner and who they eliminate last to win. As more matches are announced, they will be added to this thread. Results of how everyone did will be posted after the show. Predictions will primarily be ranked based on predicted winner(s). The extra information (how they won) will be used only in the event of a tie. *The person who predicts the most outcomes correctly will win a prize package that includes WWE's "The Rise and Fall of ECW" DVD, as well as WWE's "ThemeAddict" music CD!* Both prizes are courtesy of Fanscape.com, which is currently featuring their own unique contest with such prizes available as a Personal Digital Player and a DVD collection, as well as a Wrestlemania guitar and WWE prize pack! Check out Fanscape.com's WWE micro-site right here! ![]() ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 30-MAN ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH *PREDICT THE WINNER & (TIE-BREAKER) WHO THEY ELIMINATE LAST TO WIN* ![]() The Royal Rumble. It begins with two men battling it out in the ring. Every 90 seconds, the melee is joined by another. Then another, and another until it’s grown into a 30-man battle. At the end, the last man standing is awarded a main event at Wrestlemania and a shot at either the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship. Pretty good for a match that was once for bragging rights only. In its nearly 20-year history, the Royal Rumble has been one of the cornerstone events in WWE and has been responsible for some of the greatest moments in the history of the sport. Who can forget Ric Flair’s astounding win at the 1992 Rumble? Or the controversy that ensued when Bret Hart and Lex Luger landed on the mat at the same time? Or last year’s incredible victory by Chris Benoit, who entered the Rumble at No. 1 and lasted all the way to the end? Each year, the Royal Rumble promises — and delivers — unpredictability. There will be 15 Superstars from RAW and 15 from SmackDown! Here is the list of Superstars who have qualified so far: There will be 15 Superstars from RAW and 15 from SmackDown! Here are the participants: Batista, Booker T, Charlie Haas, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Christian, Dan Puder, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Gene Snitsky, Hardcore Holly, Jonathan Coachman, John Cena, Kane, Kenzo Suzuki, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak, Muhammad Hassan, Orlando Jordan, Paul London, Rene Dupree, Rey Mysterio, Ric Flair, Scotty 2 Hotty, Shawn Michaels, Shelton Benjamin, Simon Dean, The Hurricane, Viscera That makes 28 wrestlers so far entered in the Rumble, 14 from the SmackDown! brand and 15 from the Raw brand. Who will be the 30th man? Tune in tonight to find out! WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: TRIPLE H VS RANDY ORTON ![]() During his ninth reign as World Champion, Triple H was smart enough to eliminate Randy Orton's chances of ever facing him for the World Heavyweight Championship. That was Triple H's last reign, however. This one is different. On Jan. 30, live on pay-per-view, Orton will challenge Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship. The Legend Killer won the right to face Triple H at the Royal Rumble by defeating the might Batista in a No. 1 Contender's Match on Monday Night RAW. What will happen when these two former friends and members of Evolution collide at Royal Rumble? Can Orton add another name to his long list of defeated legends? Will Evolution play a part in the outcome? Order the Royal Rumble to find out. WWE CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT: BIG SHOW VS KURT ANGLE VS JBL ![]() The WWE Champion has been defeating the odds ever since he won the title at The Great American Bash in June. But one has to assume that one of these days, those odds are going to be just too insurmountable for JBL to overcome. And with the way things are shaping up, Jan. 30 at the Royal Rumble may just be that day. JBL will have to put his beloved WWE Championship on the line in a Triple Threat match against both Kurt Angle and Big Show. JBL is coming off of a successful Fatal Fourway title defense at Armageddon against Eddie Guerrero, Booker T and Undertaker. That win was against four Superstars, so a Triple Threat should be even easier for JBL right? Well, not exactly. What makes the Royal Rumble title defense different is that JBL already had victories over the Fatal Fourway participants at Armageddon. JBL, however, has yet to defeat Big Show or Kurt Angle in singles competition. In fact, on the Dec. 16 edition of SmackDown! it appeared as though a new champion might be crowned. Kurt Angle had the ankle lock securely planted on the champ in the middle of the ring, but just before JBL was about to tap out, his Chief of Staff Orlando Jordan caused a disqualification. JBL lost the match, but the belt cannot change hands via disqualification, so the gold was still safe. After the match, however, Big Show stormed the ring and cleaned house before letting everyone know that he, too, has aspirations for the WWE Championship. With both Big Show and Kurt Angle hungry for the gold, will JBL still be able to slip away with his Championship in tact? Well, one thing the champ has going for him is the animosity between Angle and Big Show. The two Superstars have been embroiled in a bitter rivalry for much of the second half of 2004. Angle and his associated Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak even went so far as to shave Big Show’s head and strip him of his dignity. Only time will tell if both Superstars will be able to remain focused on winning the WWE Championship. CASKET MATCH: UNDERTAKER VS HEIDENREICH ![]() While Undertaker is often referred to as The Deadman, Heidenreich might be a “deadman walking” heading into the Royal Rumble. Undertaker and Heidenreich have been going at it ever since No Mercy last October, but it looks as though the final chapter may be about to be written. On the Dec. 30 edition of SmackDown!, General Manager Theodore Long announced that Undertaker would be able to choose the type of match he’d like to face the maniacal Heidenreich in at the Royal Rumble. Heidenreich came out to the ring later in the night, berating his adversary when a casket was rolled out to the ring. A curious Heidenreich opened the casket only to see Undertaker staring right back at him. The Dead Man then said that Heidenreich will be introduced to his final resting place at the Royal Rumble and it will finally be time for him to rest in peace. The bad blood between these two Superstars began at No Mercy when Undertaker took on JBL in a Last Ride Match. Just as Undertaker was about to throw the champ into the hearse, and thus get the win, Heidenreich ambushed the Phenom, as he had been hiding in the hearse all along. He then used a cloth soaked in ether to incapacitate Undertaker, drove him to the backstage area, and ran a pick-up truck into the hearse. Undertaker soon returned, though, angrier than ever. The two met up at Survivor Series in a one-on-one match. In the end Undertaker came out on top, but even he was surprised at how tough a fight Heidenreich put up. Undertaker moved on and secured himself a shot at the WWE Championship in a Fatal Fourway at Armageddon against JBL, Booker T and Eddie Guerrero. Just as Undertaker seemed to have that match wrapped up as well, Heidenreich again interfered and preoccupied him long enough for JBL to pin Booker T to retain his title. Undertaker got a chance at revenge at the annual SmackDown! from Iraq, but Heidenreich left the ring in mid-match and never returned. With Undertaker’s actions on the last SmackDown! of 2004, one can only guess that it might be a Casket Match that the Undertaker chooses for his next battle. Undertaker has taken out many of his foes in Casket Matches in the past. Will Heidenreich become just one more name on that list, or will he shock the Dead Man and beat him at his own game? EDGE VS SHAWN MICHAELS ![]() Edge has had it out for Shawn Michaels since October of last year. Ever since HBK won the voting at Taboo Tuesday, giving him the right to face the World Heavyweight Champion over Edge and Chris Benoit, Edge has been complaining about not getting a fair shot at the championship. He even went so far as to claim that HBK "wasted" his shot when he came up short at Taboo Tuesday. To add fuel to Edge's fire, it was Sweet Chin Music delivered by Michaels at New Year's Revolution that took the young Edge out of the World Heavyweight Championship picture that night. Now Edge gets his shot at revenge at the Royal Rumble. Will Sweet Chin Music stop Edge in his tracks once again? Or can Edge finally put HBK behind him? Order the Royal Rumble to find out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ credit: www.wwe.com Please note that this contest closes on January 30, 2005 at 7PM ET.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Royal Rumble Match Prediction: John Cena Last Person Eliminated: Batista Haitch comes down to ringside for supposed "moral support" and causes Batista the victory, since he's scared to face him at Mania. World Heavyweight Championship Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton Prediction: Triple H by pinfall With a little help from Naitch, of course. WWE Championship - Triple Threat Match JBL (c) vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Big Show Prediction: Kurt Angle by submission on JBL Angle/Cena at Mania, baby! Casket Match The Undertaker vs. Heidenreich Prediction: Heidenreich He's gotta win sometime, right? I think Taker losing will make his gimmick progress to an even darker, more sinister version. Shawn Michaels vs. Edge Prediction: Edge by pinfall Huge for Edge's career, and HBK won't get damaged if booked well.
