At WWE Elimination Chamber, five SmackDown Superstars will step into the career-altering abyss that is the Elimination Chamber Match. Will Edge walk out with the World Heavyweight Championship still in his grasp? Or will another Superstar rise from the metal mayhem as the new World Champion and face No. 1 contender Alberto Del Rio in the main event at WrestleMania?

The Elimination Chamber is such a sinister instrument of destruction that it has only been contested 11 times since its inception. The mangled configuration of torture is comprised of two miles of chain, 10 tons of steel, measuring 16-feet in height and 36-feet in diameter. Two Superstars will begin the match, with the others being released one-at-a-time into the insanity thereafter. A Superstar wins when his five adversaries have been eliminated by pinfall or submission. There is no disqualification; no order; no place to hide.

In addition to Edge, the match will include Rey Mysterio, Kane, Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre – all of whom claimed their opportunity in a series of Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches on the Feb. 4 edition of SmackDown. The then-“acting” SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero had also automatically inserted her boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler into the fray. However, since returning SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long fired the bleach-blond Superstar on Feb. 18, it is reasonable to assume that Edge will only be facing four challengers.

Although the odds are stacked against The Rated-R Superstar retaining his World Heavyweight Championship, The Master Manipulator has triumphed in the Elimination Chamber before, forging his legacy in a total of three battles inside the dreaded structure.

Kane also has been in three Elimination Chamber Matches, including its inaugural match in the 2002 Survivor Series. The Devil’s Favorite Demon is not only tailor-made for the hellish structure, but he would like nothing better than to use it to reclaim the title that The Ultimate Opportunist took from him at WWE TLC.

Rey Mysterio has experienced the madness of Elimination Chamber on two separate occasions. His athletic prowess, extreme heart and aerial superiority allow him to thrive on all levels of the cage-like environment and could make the difference for the two-time World Champion.

Although this is the first Elimination Chamber Match for McIntyre and Barrett, each has demonstrated the type of ruthless aggression needed to reign supreme amidst the masochistic steel.

I suppose this is the last chance the WWE has to give Del Rio a different opponent than Edge. However, only Mysterio has a chance of winning it if there's a new champion.

I don't expect anyone else but Edge to win this. We're not going to get heel vs heel in a WM main event which rules out 4 guys. As you say they could give Mysterio the win, to set up Rey vs Del Rio yet again, but because they've already had Del Rio attack Edge on Raw this week and Mysterio seems to have a feud going on with Cody Rhodes, I'd expect Edge to come out on top in this Chamber match.

I'm surprised they didn't try to squeeze Show in there like they always do for some reason.

I wish WWE didn't feel like Edge was still as 'cutting edge' (no pun intended) as he was when they first gave him the Rated R Superstar gimmick.

like the line-up, Edge will probably win but i wouldn't be too agianst rey/del rio for mania as that probably has more potential to be a great match. but as has been said with the way things are playing out Edge is the likeliest winner.

I'm praying for a Rey win, but I sincerely doubt it. Edge win, and go on to stink up Wrestlemania. Hopefully Rey gets a performance like in February 2009. Should be a good good match at least.

Edge will probably win this but this should be a good overall chamber match more then half of the people in it are all new faces in their first main event match so this should be good.

Pretty much a lock that Rey or Edge will win, more than likely Edge though.

Interesting inclusion for McIntyre. Heel/face ratio of 2:1, Kelly has been involved in Dolph and Vickie's business, and as a result fired.....

^It'll probably be used to jump start a feud for him against Ziggler.
