Armageddon re-named?

I didn't post this in the news & rumors section since i'm not sure it qualifies. Armageddon 2009 is set to be on December 13 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. Ticketmaster is now listing on its site "WWE World Wrestling Entertainment - TLC: Tables, Latter & Chairs" for that date. Remember that a couple of weeks ago it was revealed that one of the possible PPV themes WWE was considered was a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match themed event. Obviously it's not final since WWE itself hasn't said anything, but it looks like Armageddon will be replaced with a TLC based event.

That is terrible if true. That would be my 3rd choice out of the suggestions named, but I'm not surprised if the majority voted in favour of it. These gimmicks are seriously going to turn me off PPVs. What happened to the good old days when you could book what you wanted on PPV without the restrictions of having to book certain gimmick matches at certain PPVs?

Plus they've already had a TLC this year. That was a dumb idea wasn't it.

Agreed, I voted for a tournament based event (hoping WWE would bring back King of the Ring as a PPV). I like TLC matches, but I don't want it watered down by having a event based off of it (even if only the main event matches use it). I guess I am not surprised, WWE seems intent on re-naming all of it's PPV's other than the Big 4. I wouldn't be surprised if No Way Out gets renamed to WWE Elimination Chamber, and Backlash and Judgment Day also be re-named.

Seriously though what the fuck is wrong with the WWE. Why do they keep on coming up with these terrible names. They could at least be a little creative with there PPV names. Also there is enough gimmick PPV in the WWE already, We don't need another one.

It's more than a name isn't it? I assume he wouldn't watch because a TLC gimmick is a horrible idea, which it is.

It's not the name I'm worried about, it's the fact they want to them it based off gimmick matches that should just be used at any PPV to end a good feud.

Now that i think about it even though the thought of a PPV being based around a TLC gimmick does sound pretty bad & pointless it could produce some good exciting matches so i wouldn't be too quick to condemn it.

My problem with this is that you know there's going to be a gimmick, so there isn't that excitement or shock factor when it's annouced. I think TLC matches should just be saved to end feuds, (ie; Punk/Hardy, Taker/Edge - where Taker left, I know HIAC officially ended it). Part of me also thinks that the matches at the PPV will be dry as well, because they won't have that 'personal' or 'melodramatic' feel to them, they're kind of forced on you. I preferred the Armageddon name too, I wonder what WWE's motivation behind the PPV name/gimmick changes is? Maybe No Way Out sold well because of the Chambers, and they're expanding from there? I dunno, either way, this is getting a little bit silly.
