That was No Mercy...

Unforgiven 2007 was so bad. The lackluster Taker return with Mark Henry in the main event, the Cena/Orton match that didn't happen.. awful stuff.

Can't remember too many of them being good to be honest. 2006 had one of my least fav matches ever in the HIAC.

Re: September PPV's History And Discussion

September has always been a filler month as far as PPV goes. With the company just coming off of Summerslam and Survivor Series coming up, they rarely do anything too big. Standout matches from September are:

Jean-Pierre Lafitte vs Bret Hart - 1995
Shawn Michaels vs the Undertaker - 1997
Bret Hart vs The Undertaker
The Rock vs Ken Shamrock vs Mankind - 1998
Edge and Christian vs The Hardys - 2000
Rob Van Dam vs Chris Jericho - 2001
Chris Benoit vs Kurt Angle - 2002
Matt Hardy vs Edge - 2005
Edge vs John Cena - 2006

It's typically good for one match, but that's about it.

Re: September PPV's History And Discussion

My favourite September PPV was the only good UK only PPV and one that I attended and thats One Night Only in 97. A very heated match between Bulldog and Micheals where HBK was absoloutly ripped apart from the crowd, also Bret and Taker had the best match that ever had against each other, a fine match between Trips and Foley and one of Vaders best WWE matches against Owen Hart.

Other matches I have enjoyed in September include the main event of Mind Games between Foley and Shawn, a good match despite the screwy finish which led to the first HIAC between HBK and Taker, a very good triple threat steel cage match between Rock, Foley and Shamrock, a very entertaining steel cage match between E&C and The hardys in 99, one of WWE's best Hardcore matches between Y2J and RVD, Kurt Angle winning the title from Austin infront of a red hot crowd, Benoit and Angle having a damn fine match(although not as good as their Rumble macth), Orton and Micheals having a fine match in 2004, the best match of the Matt Hardy/Edge feud, and a very entertaining TLC match between Edge & Cena.

Very cool thread. I love looking back at PPV lineups from years ago.

Oh look the same shit 11 years later

Also, this is right around when Undertaker was just about to jump the shark. (actually he did). His character was so annoying and he was in absolute terrible shape. Of course we were unware just how bad he was screwed up physically at the time.

Two interesting PPV posters you picked DD.

Can you figure out what they both have in common?

The fact that Triple H and The Undertaker both didn't feature in the shows that they are advertising.

If I remember correctly Triple H was originally going to defend his IC Title against Mark Henry at Breakdown before he opted for knee surgery and vacated the Championship.

The Undertaker got replaced in the 6-pack match by Davey Boy Smith.

Pretty much. In addition to that, they both came off the last PPV with a title win. Once they did return, they were either given a new gimmick or were put into a process of being revamped. Both men would also have a lot of interaction with the other one with Hunter being sucked into the Corporation in the feud against the Ministry and Taker returning at Judgment Day 2000 to attack Hunter.
