I don't think there is any way to prove this, but I was wondering if anybody else is seeing the same thing I am when they watch Wrestlemania every year.
Basically, Wrestlemania is a 4 hour PPV while every other PPV is 3 hours, yet in my opinion, or from what I can see, there is no more wrestling at Wrestlemania than at any other PPV. In fact, WWE basically use the extra hour as an excuse to waste more time than they usually do. This year for example, we saw things like Kid Rock performing an overly long medley, the divas having an awful comedy battle royal, Mickey Rourke taking 10mins to get in the ring etc. At Wrestlemania 23 Vince getting his head shaved took like 15mins it seemed.
I think one of the reasons Wrestlemanias rarely live up to the hype is the lack of wrestling. They just waste too much time with live performances, pointless skits and everything else.
Obviously I don't expect people to come in with any minutes of wrestling analysis comparing Wrestlemania to other PPVs, but do you agree that there isn't enough of it? With the roster WWE has, Wrestlemania should be stacked every year, but nowadays there just arn't enough big matches, and big matches often don't get enough time, eg Jeff/Matt, because WWE try to fit in all their pointless segments and stuff.

What bothered me about this year's 'Mania was that WWE's shitty segments were just that... Shitty. Usually they step it up and have great comedy skits involving legends, diva's and comedy wrestlers, but this year it was nothing like that. We got a lacklustre medley or nu metal dirge and Mickey Rourke taking a week to do anything.
I'm not so bothered that the wrestling to segment ratio isn't much different than a normal PPV because with 'Mania being 'Mania it needs to appeal to everyone, and not everyone who buys Wrestlemania is buying WWE PPV's all year. I just wish everything we did get was quality.

Agreed.
Wrestlemania has the 'Lights, Cameras, Action!' theme to it. It's not just the show, it's the show. Where as people have heard of SummerSlam, Survivor Series, The Royal Rumble, everybody has heard of Wrestlemania. I feel that they rarely live up to the hype because the hype is for us, some people who don't normally watch wrestling but watch Wrestlemania, do not watch Raw, Smackdown or ECW before-hand; maybe it lives up to them, but not to us, who knows? Wrestlemania literally has to appeal to every single demographic. I personally feel Wrestlemania is about showing off the 'varitey' aspect instead of the wrestling. This years money in the bank felt very rushed to me, yet they allow Kid Rock to put on his shitty 15 minute performance? Money in the Bank should be one of those stand up matches which really make you feel excited when watching the PPV, but this year there wasn't much time to do anything special other than rush from spot-to-spot, making sure time wasn't wasted; which is a reason I felt Punks win was anti-climatic. They don't need more matches on the card, just give the matches an extra 10 - 15 minutes (every match except Triple H's To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. To earn a Wrestlemania match really is a big deal to some wrestlers, so just give them the chance to let them do what they do best; wrestle and entertain the crowd.

I think there's just as much wrestling as on you're average show. It's just that instead of having all the matches at a decent length like you do on normal shows, WrestleMania has short undercard matches and longer main events. It's not backstage segments that take up most of the extra time, at least half of it relates to posturing and elaborate entrances.

The elaborate entrances are nice and part of the show. Look at the Super Bowl or the World Series. The games are the same length as any normal football or baseball game, but they are much longer because of stuff like player introductions, halftime shows, the national anthem, etc. It's the same with WrestleMania, it's not about just the matches. I don't want a 4 hour show filled with just matches in an effort to cram as many wrestlers as possible on the card (they already do that with stuff like the pre-show battle royals they have had at several of the events and lumberjack matches), it should be reserved for the best of the best. The event is also about the elaborate entrances, the music performances, backstage skits, etc.

I agree with Mr. K. It needs to be the best of the best (or at least presented as such) but the entertainment value is what sells it to Joe Public, and that's needed for the biggest wrestling show of any year.

i think there needs to be more wrestling at wm. i dont what to see an old shit like kid rock dance around and stare at the divas for half an hour. sure there are some good matches like taker hbk but there shouldve been more.

How is 38 "old"? Thats younger than Batista, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and several others. I though it went on a little too long, but I like it overall.
