As announced by Raw special guest host The Million Dollar Man, his son, Ted DiBiase, & Cody Rhodes will get another golden opportunity at Night of Champions as they were scheduled to face Edge & Chris Jericho for the Unified Tag Team Titles. But with the injury The Rated-R Superstar suffered to his Achilles tendon, this match and the champions' reign appeared in jeopardy.
That was, until Jericho unveiled his plans.
With Edge out for months, the arrogant Jericho informed the WWE Universe that he was always wary of his "injury-prone" partner and had a clause written into his contract allowing him to choose any partner he wishes as a replacement should Edge get hurt. Jericho promised to reveal his new tag team partner before the title match at Night of Champions and not a moment sooner, leaving his opponents little time to shift tactics.
The bad blood between the Jericho and Rhodes & DiBiase began when the two younger Legacy members earned a championship bout for The Bash against then-champions Carlito & Primo. Thanks to SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long feeling the pressure, however, he made a last minute change on pay-per-view – the addition of Edge & Jericho into the match.
Unfortunately, this new development ended up working against DiBiase & Rhodes as The Rated-R Superstar, always looking for opportunities to capitalize on, made a blind tag on Rhodes and caught an unaware Carlito off-guard with a vicious spear and the title-seizing pin.
Now that The Legacy – former World Tag Team Champions – has another opportunity to add more gold to Rhodes & DiBiase’s résumés, will they be able to defeat the team of Jericho and his selected partner, with the entire WWE roster at his disposal? The only way to find out is to watch Night of Champions, available only on pay-per-view.

Re: WWE Night of Champions - Tag Team Champions Edge & Chris Jericho vs. Legacy
Hmmm by the way it sounds, there is no way Edge can even step in the ring. No idea what they're going to do here. If he was a face they could say he'd been taken out, but it doesn't really work with a heel.

Well due to it being on Raw tonight, I'm sure they are waiting until Raw next week to change the match. So they are just trying to play off like this week was live I would assume.

I don't know if it was posted on here, or somewhere else. But, I think they're looking back through his match on Smackdown last week to try and find a spot where they can say he injured his ankle... so, the match will most likely change between now and the PPV.
Re: WWE Night of Champions - Tag Team Champions Edge & Chris Jericho vs. Legacy
Or they might try to put a storyline into this.
Either way, I was looking forward to this egotastical team to have a very long tag title reign (Gawd I hate Edge), and Ted DiBiase will at least get nother title reign out of this.
Am I forgetting someone?
Nope. Ted's going to get the tag belts.

By the looks of it either a new match may be announced or I think the WWE may do a thing were Edge was taken out backstage leaving Jericho to defend both belts by himself.

I think they'll have to just say he got injured during a live event. I don't see any harm in them doing that. I'd like it if they made a mention to something from the house show circuit.
The only thing(s) I can see WWE doing is either have Jericho pick himself a partner for the match, or he's so confident he'll beat Legacy, he goes out and defends the titles on his own.

Edge to face surgery
Quote:
WWE Unified Tag Team Champion, Edge suffered a tear to his Achilles heel tendon last Friday, July 3, during a WWE live event in San Diego. Edge's opponent was the man with whom he has traded the WWE Championship, Jeff Hardy.
Almost immediately after the bout started, Edge was in his corner when Hardy charged toward him. After attempting to leapfrog Hardy, Edge crumbled to the canvas. Hardy was backed off by the referee, who checked repeatedly with Edge before summoning WWE doctors and athletic trainers and instructing ring announcer Justin Roberts that because Edge could not continue, Jeff Hardy was the winner of the match via forfeit. WWE referees, athletic trainers and doctors then helped Edge to the back as Edge could bear no weight on his left ankle.
Edge arrived this morning at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., this morning to surgically repair the torn Achilles tendon in his left ankle. Dr. James Andrews currently has Edge's operation scheduled for 10 a.m. ET. Dr. Andrews has previously performed surgeries on WWE Superstars Batista, Triple H, John Cena, Rey Mysterio and many others. Andrews also consulted on NFL quarterback Tom Brady after his third knee surgery and most recently worked with Brett Favre for his possible return to the NFL.
WWE.com will attempt to have comments from both Dr. Andrews and Edge later today, including a timeline for Edge's return to the ring.
WWE.com will also investigate how this injury will affect the status of the Unified Tag Team Titles, as well as Edge & Chris Jericho's scheduled match with Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase at Night of Champions.
Well lets see what happens with the belts now.
