This is not good for SmackDown though. This leaves SmackDown with 22 active male wrestlers:

Of those, who can really be considered main eventers? Punk is the champ, Hardy if he re-signs with WWE, maybe Jericho. Khali is in a feud with Ziggler, Kane is in a feud with Mysterio for the IC Title. So SmackDown is in trouble when it comes to the world title picture and need The Undertaker to come back ASAP.

The thing about Undertaker though is that last year he didn't come back fully healed and if he comes back later this month or early next month, it will most likely be the same story so is it worth it to have Undertaker come back so soon when he could probably use another two or three months to heal? If he comes back too soon like last year, he'll just get injured again and have to take more time off so is it worth it just to have him come back soon?

Because either route is going to keep him out 6-10 months anyways.

Smackdown has had a small roster for ages, they'll be fine. If you actually look at that list, Matt Hardy is also injured, and Funaki, Knox, Jesse and Yang have barely been used thus far, so they've been doing swimmingly with roughly 17 superstars.

If Jeff Hardy were to leave (which I doubt he will), who would CM Punk feud with though? The only two possible faces big enough (Mysterio and Khali) are currently in feuds. I guess WWE could have Mysterio drop the IC Title to Kane at Night of Champions and that would free him up.
Rey would probably be the most likely choice unless Taker returns sooner rather than later. I would guess that when Taker does return he is gonna be next in line for the title.
