People complain that he buries his opponents, but when he has a match with a mid-carder, people complain that he "gets nothing from it" and "now he's just a filler". Everyone's been bitching about wanting new stars and now they're doing it and people still bitch. I don't understand.
Well, I don't complain that he buries opponents. I think he's one of the only top level stars who makes others look good.
But what does he get from this match? If he beats The Miz then he's done what he should and what people expect him to do. If he loses he will have lost to somebody several levels beneath him.
The match is just filler. If it wasn't then it would have been announced more than 6 days before it happens.
Also WWE needs new stars. But they also need to build them gradually.

I don't see how Cena could lose cleanly to The Miz and still be a main event caliber wrestler. You couldn't see it happening to Triple H or Orton.

What more does he need to get, though? He can't feud for the title because that's already in a feud, he's been feuding with Big Show since April, truth be told, there's not much for him to do right now. The Miz is the best option currently, imo.

He's WWE's biggest draw at this time. The Miz is beneath him at this point. It's like The Rock in 1999. He feuded with The Bulldog & Billy Gunn. Both were beneath him in terms of status. So much so that nobody benefited from them at all. Billy Gunn& Davey Boy Smith were ill prepared for the pushes and they were both failures.
It's better to hold it off until the fans are absolutely rabid for the match. Now they're just excited.
WWE should slowly build up The Miz. Put him in different feuds over a couple of months whilst still name dropping Cena at every oppertunity to keep it going.
Orton is a heel, so thats a bad comparison, and Trips doesn't job, period.
Cena has lost to JBL, Batista, Michaels, Show and a few others over the last year and is still credible enough to be a top guy. Not that I'm saying he will lose cleanly (though I'm not ruling it out), but the idea that somehow he "needs" to benefit from this is pretty far-fetched.
Yeah the match is all about Miz. Cena really doesn't need anything from it. It will elevate The Miz and it will be entertaining, and that is reason enough for it to be done. I only wish that other main eventers were involved in non title feuds more often and actually elevated young talent. That should be Triple H's main use at this stage.

Ok, Undertaker then. He's a face and he does job.

All main eventers, something which The Miz is not.

They need to keep Cena at a certain level. They need to have him feud with people on the same level as him or then need to build people up sufficiently to feud with him. Right now The Miz just isn't there.
Nah, assuming Cena does somehow lose this all it would take is to instantly go into another high profile fued or rack up a few big wins and he would be none the worse for it. Like I have said, he is credible enough that he can afford to lose to a guy like the Miz.
And if Cena wins, then there really is no problem at all.
Yeah I think this is a great way to elevate The Miz. This is why it is so retarded that Triple H is protected so much. It really wouldn't matter if he lost a few times. Same with Cena.
There is no way Miz will win but even if he did it wouldn't affect Cena one bit. It would just make Miz look a bigger deal than he did before. Even if he loses it would do that. It is refreshing to see an established star mix it up with somebody like the Miz in my opinion, especially in a company with guys like Orton, Edge, Tista and Triple H constantly involved in the title picture when they're not injured.
