Both men have written their own chapters in the Intercontinental Championship record books. During an interview with Jim Ross and Todd Grisham on SmackDown, Mysterio voiced his hope to one day be among the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time. And Chris Jericho leads all WWE Superstars in history, holding the championship for a record ninth time.

After Mysterio successfully defended his title at Judgment Day, Jericho ripped Mysterio’s mask off at Extreme Rules as he was going for the 619. And before anyone could catch their breath, he quickly followed up to pin the stunned Superstar, taking his gold and his dignity in a flash.

Jericho has insisted his adversary “panders” to the WWE Universe and claimed that he is a coward who “hides behind a mask.” But now, Mysterio will be forced to put his entire heritage on the line.

Mysterio's iconic mask, as is tradition with luchadors, is his whole identity and immense source of pride to him, both personally and professionally. And Jericho has continued to exploit it to win matches against Mysterio, threatening to expose Rey's face to the world permanently.

In this rubber match between perhaps the two greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time, will Mysterio's iconic identity be stripped from him forever? Or will Rey strip away Jericho's cherished championship? We find out in Sacramento June 28.

I really can't see rey being unmasked and loosing it for good just would not be ray.

50/50 on this one. I can't see Jericho losing the title but at the same time i can't see Rey losing the mask again.

It seems a little soon to add this stipulation to the feud. Whatever the outcome, it really is a feud ending stipulation.

It'd be a dumb idea to remove his mask. He doesn't have enough personality to carry himself if he loses it. I think his WCW run proved that. He also doesn't move as well as he did then, so he won't be able to rely on that.

God, WWE don't half have a habit of spunking their load early. Take about a match to be kept til Summerslam... Another notch on Rey's resume coming up.

I'm not understanding why people think Rey won't lose his mask. Notice they've been promoting the over mask thing that looks like La Parka's old mask lately. He can easily lose, and they can still have him sell the over masks, and he can still wear them, but take it off before his match.

Stupid match, everyone already knows Mysterio wrestled in WCW for a bit without his mask so to make it as if it's going to be the end of Rey's world if he loses his mask is just stupid! it's stupid i tell you! stupid!

But seeing as it's happening, might as well have Jericho win rather than have an anticlimax.

I personally think Mysterio was a much better character unmasked.
