There are few things in this world more precious to Randy Orton than the WWE Championship. Unfortunately for the reigning champion, he’s hardly the only one who harbors such affinity for WWE’s most prized possession.
Triple H, his opponent at The Bash, has also been known to pine for the cherished gold – and to stop at nothing to obtain it.
The question of who will enter the match as champion, however, remains to be answered. Raw’s new owner, Donald Trump, couldn’t wait to see these two clash. Therefore, the billionaire businessman arranged a Last Man Standing Title Match between Orton and Triple H during the upcoming Monday Night Raw.
The WWE Champion and his opponent share a long and tumultuous history than spans nearly a decade. Most recently, their animosity reached tragic proportions when Orton and his Legacy henchmen Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase began systematically targeting the McMahon family, including Triple H’s wife, Stephanie.
After decimating the most storied family in the history of the squared-circle, the WWE Champion snuffed out their last shining light when he punted the skull of The Game at Backlash. In the wake of the devastating kick, Triple H wasn’t seen or heard from for weeks. That is, until the WWE Universe witnessed the return of The King of Kings to Monday Night Raw.
Prior to Triple H’s return, however, Orton and The Legacy attacked the then-WWE Champion Batista before a scheduled title match, sending The Animal from the arena on a stretcher. As The Viper waited to be ordained the WWE Champion, The Game crashed the coronation. Exacting a long-awaited vengeance, an enraged Triple H plowed through Rhodes & DiBiase en route to the man who attacked his family and put him on the shelf – obliterating his nemesis with a Pedigree onto a steel chair.
With Batista injured and the WWE Title up for grabs, a Fatal Four Way Match commenced the following week to determine who would reign. Animosity hung thick in the air as Orton, Triple H, John Cena and Big Show all collided for the honor. It was The Viper, however, who would emerge victorious among the wreckage.
And now, Orton must defend his title against the man who has vowed to extract every bit of flesh he feels he’s owed. Can Orton possibly evade the wrath that awaits him to retain the title? Or will Triple H be able to overcome The Viper and his network of annihilation, The Legacy?
To find out, tune into all the action live on pay-per-view Sunday, June 28 at 8 ET/5 CT.

The previous matches between the two have been mediocre, I suspect this will be more of the same. After multiple matches over the past 5 years it'll take a lot to convince me that this will be the one in which they hit it off and have a brilliant match.

Yeah, slightly off topic but I can't believe that after Monday these guys will have had 3 Last Man Standing matches in under 2 years. I think that says it all about overkill in WWE, both of this feud and certain gimmick matches, which are pretty meaningless at this stage.
The only match I've ever enjoyed between these two was the first of those Last Man Standing matches at No Mercy 2007, which was very dramatic and proved how great a LMS CAN be if done right.
As you say, they've had a hell of a lot of matches and most of them have been awful. Who could care about another singles matches between these two after they stunk up the Wrestlemania main event?
And obviously having a Last Man Standing match on FREE TV between two guys who are facing each other in a gimmickless match at the next PPV is downright retarded. Surely there is a chance they will add a gimmick to this on Monday? I actually think the LMS on Monday may not happen and Trump will make it for The Bash with Priceless banned from ringside or something, that would make more sense, even if they wouldn't be delivering what they advertised for RAW.

You also can't overlook the LMS match was good because it had a strong, unique angle behind it which added a lot. It wouldn't have been anywhere near as good without that angle.
This fued should have by all rights ended at Wrestlemania.

Well yeah, now I wouldn't care who walked out Champion so it wouldn't be dramatic at all. Even if Triple H wins, I won't even be pissed off anymore because the title is meaningless.
And I agree about the Mania thing, but as soon as Orton won the title at Backlash and put Triple H on the shelf, there was no way Triple H was going to return without owning Orton some more. The inevitable return is the only bad thing about Triple H absences.

Re: WWE The Bash - Randy Orton vs. Triple H - WWE Championship
I'm not a fan of Last Man Standing matches in general. I think they're mostly just a bit of action then 10 minutes of 9 counts. But I did enjoy the previous one between Orton & Triple H. The only problem with that match was that it was The Game's third match of the night, which is total overkill.
But this match is now only TV worthy now. I don't know how they're supposed to sell the show based on a match that's been so often and a match between Jeff Hardy and CM Punk.

Well Jeff Hardy vs Punk is quite a big match as well as being fresh. I think a lot of people will want to see that, especially considering Jeff is one of their most over stars.
Triple H actually got a good reaction when he returned, but on PPV, the crowd are always dead for his matches.

Jeff Hardy is over enough to sell a PPV alongside Edge. But I don't think him vs. Punk will be seen as anything other than a glorified mid card match. Punk is winning frequently now, but 6 weeks ago he was losing just as many as he lost. I don't think you can make a star that quickly just by putting a world title on them.

I didn't see the point in him returning actually. He got a good reaction, but a week later he didn't win the WWE Championship. He should've returned to win the belt or feud with somebody different.
They would've been better off saving Triple H/Orton for a blow off match at SummerSlam. They could've had MVP win the Battle Royal on Monday for a one off title match at this show and somebody different for Night Of Champions.
As it stands I can't see when this feud ends. All I can predict is another couple of worthless title changes.
