Re: WWE Great American Bash (The WWE Years) - History And Discussion
I thought it was great. It's probably the match that went some way towards gaining Cena some fans and at least stopping a few of the booes he'd been getting for the past two years.
I'm by no means a Cena fan. But he almost always delivers on PPV main events.
What do you think has been better?

Eh, Cena was great in 2007, the hate really began to die down after the Umaga match at the Rumble. I would say Rey/Chavo, JBL/Eddie, Rey/Eddie, Umaga/Jeff and even Punk/Batista were better matches despite the BS finishes in them.
They were trying for something really epic with Cena/Lashly but a lot of it dragged, Lashly's limitations were really obvious. The finish was a nice idea, but it came off looking awkward.

It was definitely Lashley's best match in WWE but that's not saying much because he was pretty poor really.
I agree about Jeff/Umaga being better than it. That was a very good match. I am yet to see Punk/Tista actually. I've only watched the hilarious parking lot brawl from last year's show.

I think most things Cena does come off looking awkward.
Umaga vs. Jeff Hardy is the only one I could possibly be sawyed into thinking was better than Cena/Lashley.
Although they're all nothing matches. I can think of anything notable that's happened at this show over the years. Even a year on Edge vs. Triple H has all but been forgotten. It should've been a Mania main event and it was given away as nothing.

I wouldn't blame the finish on Cena, it was more the dead crowd and Lashley not knowing how to bump and sell that well, and they didn't really build up to it either.
Edge vs Trips from last year was awful. Punk/Batista but it's one of Punk's better matches in the 'E. I liked the clash of styles (power vs strikes) and they did it very effectively.

Edge vs Triple H should have been a Mania main event??
Why? It would have been horrible.
I don't think the actual match is important when it comes to WrestleMania. Edge/Triple H might be awful. But by the time it's happening people have paid their money.
WrestleMania is about making big matches and hyping them to death. Triple H Mania matches are always presented as being important, big and if you believe the announcers, the best. A match with Edge would have been something new that could easily have made a perfectly acceptable WrestleMania main event. Or 1/3 of the main event, considering there is another world title and there's usually a special attraction match.
Even though it was done last year, Edge vs. Triple H would've still been a bigger and better match than Orton/Triple H.
