It looks like they're finally trying to make the PPV all Extreme Rules match type, instead of just random stip after random stip, which I prefer. Especially with Christian/Swagger, Batista/Orton, hopefully Punk/Umaga, etc. continuing.

How do you know that? Just the name change?
As for the history of the PPV, obviously the first 2 were pretty great. Not a fan of 2007 or 2008.
Yeah but at least a PPV of all Extreme Rules could work. Being as most of the matches are rematches and we don't have Extreme Rules matches ever so it's not like whoring a stipulation. Plus it's a million times better than whoring out other submissions.
Extremely (HA~!) bland PPV. Even the better ones had forgettable matches and were a far cry from being the best PPV of the year. The only reasons the first two worked was because of the whole ECW nostalgia. Besides Tanaka vs Awesome and Storm vs Jericho, the first one is very skippable unless you were an ECW die hard. The PPV is noteworthy for putting on the worst Benoit vs Guerrero match ever. 2006 was better, but still hardly great. The crowd saved a disappointing main event from bombing. The only thing worth seeing from 2007 was Orton vs RVD and even that is just around the 3 star range. 2008 produced one of the best WWE women's matches from this decade with Melina vs Beth. The TLC match is just paint-by-numbers ladder match. I know some like it, but it's the same ladder match (Not even done as well) that we've seen every time for a straight decade.
Overall, it's a pointless and trivial PPV. As bad as the King of the Ring's were, I'd rather see another one of those. At least with those you're getting something different from the rest of the year.
I thought Jericho/Storm was actually the second worst match on the first one. The main event, the threeway and Rey/Psi were all a blast. The first one was never meant to be about putting on "four star matches" though... 2006 also was very good. Thought the main was good though obviously it was a carry with the crowd 1st, Cena heeling it up 2nd. RVD was really exposed there. It was still a good moment though. It also had a great tag and a really good undercard.
2007 was abimsal and last year's was mixed. I thought the main was very fun but more in a sports entertainment drama way than an actual great match way. It also had the awesome as hell cane match and the underated stretcher match.
But yeah, once they stopped with the ECW nostalgia it sucked hard.
