This is a discussion on WWE Judgment Day: CM Punk vs Umaga within the WWE Pay Per View forums, part of the Wrestling Forums category; I imagine 25 minutes or so would be ideal for this. It'll probably get 12 though....

I know I've said this in other threads, but the fact that they had Kane go over Punk on PPV only for Punk to then defeat the World Champion and move onto a feud with Umaga is truly mind-boggling.
Anyway, it is good to see Umaga involved in something meaningful and it is good to see Punk in a feud which seems meaningful in some way. I think these two could work very well together and I hope they get the time to show what they can do in this one.
Obviously Punk needs to go over unless the feud is continuing and he isn't gonna be Champ for a while. It's in his hometown so I can't see him losing. A win against Umaga would give him a lot of momentum and would be great for his credibility, but why the hell did he lose to Kane in the middle of a push? So weird.
Oh and its also good to see a fresh match-up.
I'm wondering if Kane isn't going to come out and attack Punk here setting up and match at One Night Stand for the MITB, and making some sense out of it. But doing that means Punk would win by DQ and be in a severe beatdown and made to look weak. The thing is as much as I don't want that to happen, I can see it being the case.
This marks the second time (First singles) they've ever wrestled each other before. There's a lot of potential to have this be a real nice hidden gem for the year. However, if there's one thing that could hold it back is Umaga. As talented as he is, at times his matches doesn't live up to the hype. His Wrestlemania match against Batista is proof of that. I'm hoping these two feud for a few months giving Punk his first worthwhile feud since John Morrison.

I blame Batista and the time restraints for the shitness of the Wrestlemania 24 match. Maybe it's just me, but I think you can tell when Batista isn't putting in the required effort to make a match stand out. Seemed like he was going through the motions in that one. Not saying Umaga was great or anything of course....
I would love this to turn into a real feud but past booking of Punk leads me to be pessimistic about the chances of him being booked well in any way. He desperately needs something meaningful that's for sure.
For me it all depends on the time here. If they get around the 20minute mark it will be pretty damn good, if it gets around 12-15 it probably won't be anything much. Actually I'm leaning towards Steve's prediction. 15 would be optimistic.
