WWE Champion Triple H, Batista and Shane McMahon vs. The Legacy (Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase) in a six-man tag team match:
*Triple H is 4-5 at Backlash (first one was Backlash: In Your House) and 77-53-5 overall on PPV.
*Batista is 1-1-1 at Backlash (first one was Backlash 2005) and 29-21-2 overall on PPV.
*Shane McMahon is 3-0 at Backlash (first one was Backlash 2001) and 9-14 overall on PPV.
*Randy Orton is 1-2 at Backlash (first one was Backlash 2004) and 27-24-1 overall on PPV.
*Cody Rhodes is in his first Backlash match and is 4-2 overall on PPV.
*Ted DiBiase is in his first Backlash match and is 2-0 overall on PPV.
*Triple H and Orton were involved in a Fatal-Four Way Elimination match with John Cena and John "Bradshaw" Layfield for the WWE Championship at Backlash 2008, Triple H won the title from Orton after a Pedigree.
*Orton will be going for his 3rd WWE Championship and 4th world title.
*Triple H and Batista faced each other for the World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash 2005, with Batista coming out on top.


World Heavyweight Champion John Cena vs. Edge in a Last Man Standing match:

*Edge is 3-5 at Backlash (first one was Backlash: In Your House) and 49-46-2 overall on PPV.
*Cena and Edge previously faced each other at Backlash 2006 in a Triple Threat match with Triple H for the WWE Championship, with Cena pinning Triple H with a jacknife roll-up to retain the title. They faced each other again at Backlash 2007 in a Fatal Four-Way match with Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship, with Cena pinning Orton to retain the title after Edge speared Orton and Michaels superkicked Cena and Cena fell on Orton.
*Edge will be going for his 5th World Heavyweight Championship and his 9th overall world title.


ECW Champion Jack Swagger vs. Christian:
*Swagger is in his first Backlash match and is 2-0 overall on PPV.
*Christian is 1-3 at Backlash (first one was Backlash: In Your House) and 47-50-1 overall on PPV.
*Christian will be going for his 1st ECW Championship and 3rd overall world title.
*The last time the ECW Championship changed hands on PPV was at Unforgiven 2008 when Matt Hardy won the title in a Championship Scramble.


Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy in an "I Quit" match:
*Jeff is 1-2 at Backlash (first on was Backlash 2000) and 36-45-1 overall on PPV.
*Matt is 3-2 at Backlash (first one was Backlash 2000) and 38-38-1 overall on PPV.
*These 2 were involved in the six-man hardcore match for the WWF Hardcore Championship at Backlash 2000, which saw Crash Holly retain the title by pinning Tazz after Perry Saturn hit Tazz with a Stop Sign.


CM Punk vs. Kane:
*Punk is in his first Backlash match and is 11-10-1 overall on PPV.

Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Steamboat:

Other statistics:
*This is the first time a "I Quit" match has been held at Backlash, but the fourth time a Last Man Standing match has been held (Edge beat Chris Benoit in one at Backlash 2005).
*The World Heavyweight Championship has never changed hands at Backlash, while both the WWE Championship and ECW Championship have.
*This is the second Backlash in Providence, Rhode Island, the first being Backlash: In Your House in 1999 and is in the same arena (though the arena is now called the Dunkin' Donuts Center while it was called the Providence Civic Center in 1999).
