It all began on the top of a ladder. In the closing seconds of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania, CM Punk and Kane slugged it out 20 feet above the canvas all in a desperate bid to grab the briefcase and win a World Title opportunity that could be cashed in any time over the next year. Despite a massive size and strength advantage over The Straightedge Superstar, Punk persevered with a series of jaw-breaking kicks to knock The Big Red Monster from the ladder and claim his second straight Money in the Bank victory.

Of course, The Big Red Machine hadn’t been so willing to accept this defeat. On last Monday’s Raw, he challenged CM Punk to a match, attempting to avenge his loss to The Straightedge Superstar. Instead, The Big Red Monster was once again upset when Mr. Money in the Bank countered a devastating chokeslam with a rollup and scored the pinfall victory. Although he flashed a sadistic smile after Punk outmaneuvered him, it was clear that Kane was not happy about what had just transpired.

This Sunday at Backlash, The Big Red Machine will get another opportunity to break Mr. Money in the Bank. Can CM Punk do the unthinkable and conquer Kane for a third time? Or will The Big Red Monster live up to his name and drag The Straightedge Superstar through hellfire and brimstone on his way to victory?

This feud has been built up through........What? The announcers didn't fully build this match and will probably be shit at Backlash. They should of had Mic time to promote this match.

You'd think they'd have maybe put the briefcase on the line in this one. Oh well. Should be a good match, nice to see a smaller feud get PPV time.

Well CM Punk is Mr MITB and could be World Champion within a few months. Makes sense to book him on PPVs. Just shows that they are pushing him I guess.

And yeah, when I first saw it I assumed it was for the briefcase, especially after reading the start of the preview, but apparently not. I do think though that matches for the briefcase should be used sparingly and saved for more meaningful feuds.

I like this. They have a little history, they were both in MITB and Punk kicked Kane away in order to win the MITB, then they had the match on RAW plus interaction @ Superstars/SD. Good enough build for a match that will surely just help Punk be more legit.

There's also all of their history from last year. From being champions to Kane defeating Punk in an ECW title match to Kane going crazy and going after Punk during his title defenses.

We just saw this match and it doesn't seem the two can work together. I'd only only be interested if the MITB case was on the line, or if it was built better. Hell, Jim just built it up better then the E did.

Should be an interesting match. Build up is nothing spectacular but seeing as this is pretty much just a filler match it doesn't really need a build.

Yeah, it's not exactly a real attempt to build the Money In The Bank winner is it. I mean, Punk's beat Kane in a match that didn't have the briefcase on the line... Why should we care about the same thing happening again?
