On smackdown durring the jbl vs taker match jim ross mentioned that jbl was talking about doing something historic at mania. Now if you go to the so called original mania plans it was slated that jbl was going to buy the money in bank briefcase and cash it in on same night and leave as champ (probably in edge, cena and show match). Due to Jim Ross making strong reference to "JBL and Historic" i have a feeling that this plan is set in motion for mania still....and i think it's awesome. First off many of us including myself think jbl is the greatest smackdown champ ever (check out the polls). Secondly if edge is taking time off due to knee problems after mania,...then smackdown can use a top heel. Thirdly vince probably wants to award jbl and giving the title with a switch to smackdown would be great (jbl has carried some awesome fueds lately). With the draft coming up no doubt I see the plans of the mib swerve coming....jbl wins title at mania and gets drafted to smackdown. thoughts

Im not sure if the such things as Edge taking time off because of a bad knee is true, but this whole idea would play right into JBL's Wrestlemania history, and its much better than JBL retiring with the IC Championship.
I read about this before. Personally, I don't think JBL is championship material at the moment. I do not think this will happen. The "Historic" thing will just be like, beating mysterio or something of that matter.

No the historic thing and original plan was and i believe is now looking more likely that JBL will retire at Wresltemania as the IC Champ which is something that is very rarely done in the WWE and the last time it was done was when Trish retired as Womens Champ.
JBL buying the case is something i've not heard anywhere at all and don't think it has much chance of happening.

I'm not sold on JBL being the champ. I think retiring as the IC champion is sufficient enough to end a solid career.

I agree, if this were to happen I would much prefer somebody like JBL blowing the MITB rather than an up and coming wrestler losing it and basically killing them.

Storyline wise, The Million Dollar Man didn't it years ago.
My opinion on this is that it would be historic, but it would leave a bad taste in my mouth. First, who would sell the MITB contract. I'd say the only man in the match who might do that is Mark Henry, and Mark Henry is not winning the MITB. Second, JBL would still be facing Mysterio with his IC Title on the line, meaning he'd be competing in two matches in one night. JBL? In two matches in one night? No. And third, JBL as champion SUCKS!
