We all love the mitb ladder match. We have all gaped at Shelto Benjimens amazing spots, Jeff Hardy crashing through Edge and the Ladder, the moonsault that has garnered much praise and critisizm, but is the match ultimately a faliure?
Edge- First winner. The win in a sense made Edge, but did this achieve what was best for the product. The mitb took Edge a step back upon cashing in, setting up Edges future 'ultimate opportunist' and this might not be a good thing.
RVD- Wins, is advertised to be the fact of the new ECW, wins both ECW and WWE title, then gets arrested. MITB might not have succeeded here either.
Kenedy- Wins, gets injured, nothing happens, Edge takes case again, leading soon down the line to him and Vicky becoming life partners. Did the case do good here?? really?
Punk-Punk wins the case, does nothing, cashes in, sees like one main event on Raw in his seven? weeks as champion then is thrown aside. Id say Punk would have been better not winning at all in the first place.
I know a lot of this is circumstance, but the match has dont more harm than good. The match its self is excellent but the aftermarth, not so much. Thoughts?

The first 2 MITB matches were both the best, and caused the best storylines.
After that it became battle of the mid-carders to have a spot on the card at mania.
I completely agree it does more harm than good now days. They should of stopped after WM 23, cause least we got the sweet ladder spot.
You can't really blame the injuries on the match itself. I have come to see that whoever wins from now on will get their 15 minutes of fame then disintegrate in the heat of the light. Although it's probably for the best, as I don't really care for anyone who participates in MITB. Exception would be Christan for this year.

Other than Edge, it hasn't made true main eventers out of the winners, for one reason or another (RVD's pot bust, Mr. Kennedy's injuries). I would like if they made this one the last one.
The Money in the Bank match I think is for the sole purpose to make new stars. They just don't spend the time on developing new talent and this is a way to spring them into the light immediately. If the WWE booked better, every single one of the wrestlers who won the match could be main eventers. They did a fantastic job with Edge, they did the job they wanted to do with RVD bringing back ECW (thoughts on ECW aside...), Kennedy they couldn't help, but completley dropped the ball on punk.
So ultimately I think they are two for three (not counting Kennedy) in accomplishing what they ultimately wanted to do. Of course I'm not talking about match quality, I haven't even seen the third and fourth one, but this match is very important to creating new stars.
I wouldn't really call it a, "failure". I think it has served it's purpose each time. In Kennedy's case, it wasn't the the fault of the booking of the match or whatever that caused his injury. And RVD's booking certainly didn't cause him to drink and drive. So I think it serves it's purpose. How valuable that purpose is though is certainly debatable.

I'd say that the MITB helped make Edge, but what made Edge was the real-life antics of him and Lita and the resulting fued with Matt Hardy. RVD and Kennedy's failures weren't WWE's fault. Punk however was, but there's no denying that he's now in a better position on the roster since his title win.
I think for the most part the MITB has served it's purpose, but it could do so much more it the booking up to and following were handled better, and the character development of those in the match was stronger.

Ding fucking ding. They had all the seasoning in the pot to make stars out of these winners and that is usually what they are trying to do. The accomplished that with Edge. With the others? Well, besides Kennedy's misdiagnosis and RVD's drug issues they could have shot these guys to the moon. Kennedy could have easily been put back where they wanted him had they just had him feud with Edge but they didn't make Kennedy seek retribution. Same with Punk not seeking to slit Randy's neck. CM Punk's booking is beyond retarded. It's like they want him to fail. It makes no sense. MITB is not cursed as much as WWE booking is clueless.

Every post you have made that I've seen so far makes perfect damn sense, well done you!
It isn't the Money In The Bank concept that is failing, it's WWE's creative department failing to build from that point!
I'd totally forgotten that Kennedy came back without seeking to avenge his loss to Edge. If I remember rightly, he could have even won his breifcase back and things now would be totally different.
And don't get me started on the refuckingtarded way they book CM Punk, who in my eyes, may not be there most talented star, but is a public relations gift from God!
