This is a discussion on Is There Enough Time Between PPVs? within the WWE Pay Per View forums, part of the Wrestling Forums category; I think there's a good amount of pay per views, but they just push storylines so slowly that they seemed ...

I think ideally they should go back to having 4 PPVs per year, the Rumble, WM, Summerslam and Survivor Series, it'd make them more prestigious, have more time to build storylines and give the workers more rest.

You have to realize that the WWE is out there to make money, and they are making a lot more now than they would with that idea.

Yeah 4 PPVs a year would lose them money, but I do think they could increase buyrates and therefore make more money by reducing the number of PPVs slightly. Some people can't afford 14 per year or whatever it is now.

Really would 4k lose money? I dont think it would, if anything they could lower their production costs, they could probably pull off more house shows, and their pay per views would actually mean more than a monthly cash grab. Four pay per views could feel like four wrestlemania's a year.

Think about it like this, dropping all of the PPV's means less DVD's. Which would mean less money. Dropping the PPV would also lose all of the merchandise that is sold at the show (Not so much the normal John Cena shirts, but the merchandise made for the actual PPV).
While it would help from a creative stand point, I can't see it helping them finanically.

But really how much money does WWE make off of their current day ppv dvds? Since they are promoting wrestling dvds from the 80's and 90's I have to think that they are making more money off of past events from the WWF days then they are making off of the WWE days. Im not poor by any means, but in these economic times, Im not willing to throw $30 - $50 a month for a ppv that only has two interesting matches on it and I figure many people are of the same mindset as myself. I have to go with the opinion that 4 Wrestlemania type ppvs a year trumps the 11 mehish ppvs and Wrestlemania.
Well judging by the charts it seems like each PPV usually makes it to the top of the chart or one of the top few slots and stays there for awhile which means $.
WWE should really cut down to 12, for creative reasons. Cutting down to four would mean a shit load of money would be lost and it's unlikely that WWE could make the same amount of money from 4 PPVs then they could from 14, while 12 isn't that unrealistic/that huge of a difference.

Yeah, the main problem has to be creative reasons. That's why I tough the should've stuck with the single branded "minor" PPV's, so they don't have to structure angles in three weeks for a meaningless title defense all the time. I mean, they'vea lready cut back on the number, but I think 12 would be a more reasonable number.
