Obviously the main reason WWE don't hold real PPVs outside the US and Canada is the time difference, as PPVs would have to be live and for that to happen in the US, it would have to be held at an ungodly hour over here. However, they did have Summerslam 92 in England. Anyway, I am not making the argument that they should do this, but they should definitely bring back the special UK PPVs. Insurrextion and Rebellion often produced some pretty good stuff, and they gave UK fans the chance to see a PPV live. Fans who would never usually get that opportunity. WWE has a lot of great fans in the UK and I think we deserve to get this chance. It could also help to redevelop the popularity of wrestling over here. Despite it not being popular in general, the people who do watch it are usually hardcore fans who would love to see a PPV.
What I would do is get rid of some of the shitty pointless PPVs. Cyber Sunday and One Night Stand both have horrible gimmicks and never produce good shows. Take them out, or at least take one of them out, and replace it with a UK PPV. Obviously ideally I would like it to be seen as a real PPV with just as much importance as the others, but even if it was basically just a show of rematches, it would still be great to see it live.
Anybody else think this would be a good idea?

Girst of all I'd just like to say that Ones Night stand was in my top 3 PPVs of 2008... but by all means get rid the massive con known as cyber sunday.
Although I would love to see a real PPV coming out of England... it would need to be a real PPV to be worth it for me. IMO the old UK PPV's were more dull than the average episode of RAW... and since we now get bi-annual TV Tapings... I'd rather not go back to the system of incredibly poor UK PPVs....
But if you think about it if we had a live major PPV on a sunday night... the yanks could either watch it live during the day Sunday if they want...or have the option of viewing on a tape delay. I don't see the issue... don't Americans watch live sports events during the daytime?
The UK PPVs were nothing more than glorified house shows. They seem to put alot more effort into the overseas RAWs than they did with the UK PPVs anyway.

I guess it isn't that big a deal, but I imagine if I had said we should have a real PPV every now and again, the Americans would have used that as their main argument against it. I personally don't see how it is a problem either. WWE are a global company and they give us tours etc, so why not a PPV? I agree that it would be much better to have a few PPVs in the UK than official UK PPVs, even if it was just one every couple of years.

I can understand where WWE come from however... they're a global company but they need to think of their home market first. They have NO competition in the UK market... not even TNA, so they can get away with throwing us a couple of TV tapings per year. We need to develop the UK scene... we have some damn good talent... as you can see by looking at WWE's roster... William Regal, Finlay, Drew Galloway, Sheamus O'Shauneghessy, Hade Vansen, Paul Burchill, Katie Lea. If we raised the profile of K wrestling, created some truly national promorions, got TV Deals, we may be able to create enough friction in the UK market to force WWE to make more of an effort.

TNA are looking to take advantage of the UK market though. I know we don't get TNA PPVs or Impact live or anything like that, but TNA are planning a lot for the UK in 2009 such as tours etc. I posted a thread in the TNA section about it.
