RAW VISION: Thoughts, Opinions, and Comments 5-1-06

Post all your RAW questions, comments, thoughts, etc. on this week's broadcast here. Here's my review..

RAW started off and we learned that the Spirit Squad would be taking over the GM duties as Vince had better things to do like make out with Candice.. and can you blame him? At one point her shirt was almost completely off. Very nice rack on this woman..:happy: We learned that the youngest member of the Squad, Kenny, would be looking to become the youngest champion of all time as he would be challenging John Cena for the WWE Championship. The Spirit Squad played a part in just about every match on the broadcast and I think WWE has really done a great job at getting all of these guys a lot of air time.

- Dressed as cheerleaders themselves, we had a diva tag match where Mickie and Victoria took on Maria and Torrie. The match ended when Trish (wearing a cast) came out and tripped up Mickie.. This allowed Maria to pick up the win. Looks like Trish will be out at least a few weeks.. that's too bad. Mickie came out later during the cam thingy that Maria does and beat the shit out of her. :stuff:

- Umaga crushed a jobber after Estrada delivered a solid promo. Say what you want about Umaga, he's not that bad in the ring IMO.

- RVD came out for The Masterlock Challenge with his newly won IC Title and got a huge "R-V-D!!" chant.. He always does. This turned into a mess and set up a tag match between RVD/Carlito and Masters/Shelton. Not a bad match. Haas came out and cost Shelton.. I could really dig a lengthy feud between these two.

- In six man action three members of the SS killed Goldust, Eugene, and Snitsky. Looks liek they are continuing Stryker and Eugene also as Stryker attacked him backstage. Who cares? Is this even gonna be televised when they do fight?

Now for the good parts of the show...:up:

- HBK was forced to ref the match between Conway and Kane while wearing a t-shirt that had "May 19th" written all over it. Well, I guess we'll never forget when See No Evil comes out, huh? Whatever.. But this turned funny because HBK low blowed Rob and put the shirt over him.. So Kane killed Rob and HBK even turned his back on a lot of the action.. Very funny stuff. Conway gets squashed for like the 5th week in a row or some shit. He's worse then Venis.

- The SS ripped on Joey Style's announcing ability and told him he'd have to wear a cheerleader outfit if he didn't straighten up.. I liked this whole thing.. Joey got sick of Lawler's antics and slapped him so Lawler shoves him down.. Then Joey comes out and gives a very entertainign shoot/work promo about all the things he doesn't like about McMahon and the WWE and quit! ECW! ECW! ECW! Yeah, it's coming.. I'm excited. Very good promo by Styles.

- Mick Foley gave a great promo in the Cutting Edge segment and challenged Edge to a match of his choice.. Edge accepted but for next week. Should be fun if given enough time.. I wonder what kind of match it'll be?

- Then the main event.. Classic. Triple H was forced by McMahon to be the special ref in this match.. Sound familiar? HHH wasn't thrilled and was good here.. He counted slow for Kenny... He let SS beat up cena.. He didn't give a shit about anyone, until Kenny pushed him for a slow count.. Then HHH knocked his ass down and the SS rand in and started to get it.. HHH you could see said something like "Fuck this" or "Fuck You" and decided to leave the ring an go to the back.. He turned around and Cena was getting killed by all members, he thought about helping Cena but then said screw it.. Then he met up with HBK who was still in ref gear and they had a little staredown before HHH walked to the back.. I love little teases like this.. So good. Another D-X tease.. Then HBK ran into the ring, him and Cena killed the SS, Cena got Kenny in the Fuck You and HBK counted the pin. Great main event spot here.

Well.. RAW started out slow but really picked up in the middle and the last half hour with Styles and The Main Event were great..So much going on right now, I'm loving RAW at the moment..

Great promo by Joey Styles, one of the best of the year. I love these worked shoot promos and Joey had to love saying all those things which also happen to be true.

SS did a good job as GM's for the night.

Snitsky getting cheered? WTF?

Nice job of Mick Foley putting over Edge by calling him the toughest SOB in WWE.

As usual I will be doing my weekly review of Raw with no prior knowledge of the show.

Here we go.


Well, I didnt get to see the show live as usual so I grabbed it off the net (and posted it in the media section as you can see).

The one thing that is weird about getting the shows off the net is when the uploader leaves the commercials in. This weeks happens to be from what appears to be Toronto or somewhere in Canada. We shall see if I miss some segments like the Canadians bitch about in regards to female violence. I will say this the commercials are VERY different from what we see here in the states.


----I dont know if I missed anything so I will go back and look at Nickys review afterwards.


Rob Conway vs. Kane with HBK as ref. I thought it was kinda humorous that they brought out the May 19th shirt. I also really liked that they didnt play HBK like some freaking moron and actually wear the shirt. I thought it was really stupid seeing him in the ring with the shirt on till I saw what he did with it. hahahahaha. He then puts the shirt on Conway and tosses him out of the ring towards Kane.

Is it just me or is this shirt one of the "little things" that JV used to always push. Wait............... "long Term layoff"? No exclusive news for months, and now the writing is suddenly showing some consistencies??? No way........right?

Great booking for such a simple means nothing match.

I keep hearing that the end of Raw was great, I am dying to see what happened.......patience.....patience..... :sabac:

Hmmm. Estranda seems to get the RVD style chant when he says his name, but Umaga makes me want to change the channel. After all its still Jamal.

Umaga vs. another jobber.

I wish they would start to give him someone. 3 or 4 weeks or jobbers is good, but maybe next week they do something a little different or the fans will get bored real quick. Squash and I dont care.


Vince/Candice segment.

Please for the love of god stop making Vince look like a dirty old man. He should give off more of a Hugh Hefner aura not Larry Flint.

HHH walks in. HHH seems to be defining his own new character. I dont think the writing crew could come up with this. He is doing face stuff in a heely manner. Its extremely refreshing. HHH's stock is about to skyrocket higher than it already is.


Edge/Lita segment.

Ahhh, my two favorites on Raw right now. I mean if you don't like this Edge, you will never like Edge. Face it. I really can't believe how much I like these two together. At first when the whole Matt Hardy crap started you really didnt mind the idea of him getting the shit kicked out of him for real, now he just proves week after week that he is the NUMBER 1 heat getter in wrestling right now.

He is claiming that since he didnt get pinned he should be the number 1 contender (which is technically correct I guess).

Oh shit, was that shoot? He calls out Joey Styles? Styles looked legit upset and still hasnt said anything. Yikes......

He calls out Foley.

Foley says their match may have been the best hardcore match of all time? He is kissing Edge's ass now? What is going on? He shakes hands and kisses Lita on the cheek. haha. This is odd. I don't know where this is going.

He says he wants to go through that hell again. TONIGHT IN COLUBUS OHIO !! haha.

So Edge says no way, its next week in any type of match in Anaheim. Hmmmm, the Rocks favorite place to show up.

Masters/Shelton vs RVD/Carlito.

Standard match

The Spirit Squad call Joey Styles to the back. Is he being replaced by Jim Ross? Wait, I just now noticed that Coach wasnt there. They must be bringing Ross back now. That probably explains the shoot cheap shot by Edge earlier.

Nice Charlie Haas causes Shelton and Masters to lose. I am so glad they are keeping him in the spotlight for more than a Jannety stint.


Joey Styles Segment.

They decide Styles needs more spirit. This segment is super cheesy and pointless.

Back from commercial ok now Lawler is teasing Joey and Joey goes back at Lawler with a push then a shove then a slap. Hmmm maybe they ARE bringing back Ross and Styles will lead a new ECW crew. THAT would be sweet.

Styles delivers THE BEST PROMO TO DATE IN WWE HISTORY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW. I cant get over this promo. It really is the best thing I have ever seen in my life. Shoot or work I dont care. I was AWESOME. Its so obvious where they are going with it, but its awesome none the less.


So Styles quits (and will later lead a ECW crew) and back from commerical our main man Todd Grishman is play by play. I like Grisham, he seems like he could be much better if allowed to be more himself.


Cena vs. Kenny w/HHH

Cena is beating the shit out of Kenny. Goes up for the F-U till HHH stops it. HHH is playing the lazy ref to a T. Its as if he is trying to not pay attention. Funny stuff. He isnt really helping the Spirit Squad either. I like this alot, he is the worst ref ever. Its like "Oh god, I have to count again?" hahahaha.

HHH finally says to hell with this and leaves after Kenny pushes him. Oh he also takes out half the SS before he leaves. At the ramp is HBK who earlier in the evening was a ref. LOOOOOONG staredown and HHH goes to the back. HBK slides in and counts two but stops before making Kenny the champ. Kenny takes a Superkick and now Cena is no selling the prior 10 minutes of beating he just took. Wow, he must be related to Superman.

Cena cleans house and gets the 3 count on Kenny.

Man, I really liked this show until about the last 2 minutes. They either shouldnt have had Cena gets his ass handed to him by the SS for so long or not have him clean house like he did. He really needs to learn how to sell better.

Overall I REALLY enjoyed this episode of Raw.
