Lack of Blading

I don't wanna sound like some sadistic freak, but blading is a big part of wrestling and blood can make matches a hell of a lot better. Obviously it all depends on the feud and the psychology, but it can add so much drama when you see a guy busted open. Plus, it just makes things more believable. You can't have a no DQ match with people hitting each other in the face with weapons if nobody bleeds.

My point is that a few months back there was a report that WWE were going to cut down on blood, which obviously means less blading. At the last couple of PPVs, this has been extremely noticeable, and in my opinion, it hurt both of the matches I am speaking of.

First, we have the HIAC at Summerslam. A long feud, a good backstory, Edge back to his sadistic side, Taker looking for revenge, a lot of weapons used.... yet no blood? This is hell in a fucking cell. The fact that nobody bled certainly hurt the match, especially when you look at all the shots to the face. It just damages the psychology.

Secondly, Unsanctioned match at Unforgiven. Jericho I believe bled from the nose which I assume was accidental, but blading would have really helped this match too. Two guys in a feud with such personal hatred, and yet in a match with no rules they can't even bust each other open? Not realistic.

Both of these matches would have been better with blading. I know that some people say blood can't help a match, but I disagree 100%, It makes it more believable and adds drama. If WWE are pretty much banning blading then these sort of matches are going to be a lot worse.

To an extent I agree but I also disagree. I feel blading done more rarely makes it more important and more impactful when it happens. Plus, I feel other forms of brutality can be used which may send the same or a better message, such as the belts leaving welts on Jericho's back.

The Hell In A Cell could have used it, but due to the match being booked the way it was, as more of a spotty match opposed to a gruesome match, I feel it wasn't as necessary though would have been useful.

I agree that blading should be used sparingly so it makes it mean more when someone is busted open, and the last thing I want to see if someone getting busted open every week, which seemed to be happening at the start of 2007 when Shawn Michaels was blading on TV all the time. That is why I picked these two matches as examples, two huge no DQ matches, one in the demonic structure of HIAC, and one not even sanctioned by WWE. Both are feuds with both guys intent on hurting each other, and I felt it was a little weak that there wasn't even any blood with two guys surrounded by steel and/or weapons with licence to do whatever the fuck they want, and they didn't even make each other bleed.

Both matches were lacking something and part of what they were lacking was blood. It sounds dumb to say it but a lot of people know what blood can add to a match. Both realism and drama like I said.

I'd loved the Edge vs Taker match at Summerslam. In my opinion yeah it would of made sense to have blood considering the BAD BLOOD between the two in the feud. But I don't think that it was needed...and I feel that it took nothing away from the match. It was a well put together match and it was very brutal...as far as the bumps each men were taking. Adding blood with all that isn't really needed...at least I don't think, although it would make sense. Now on that I can't really point out anything bad in that match. Funny how the harcore mathces...that Edge and Taker put on were alot better then their regular matches.

TLC and Hell In A Cell, Were the best in that Taker/Edge feud. And not because I love seeing sick bumps....but because it was straight entertaining. There WM was ok at best, the matches at Backlash and Judgement Day...didn't really interest me tbh.

As for the HBK vs Y2J Unforgiven match...again it is one of those situations, where it would of made sense. Again the bad blood within the feud...I mean a man punched another man's wife. So I expected blood..but again the overall brutalness that was delieverd in the match proved that blood was not needed.

A lot of people think the Wrestlemania match was the best match Undertaker and Edge had together, and I can see why they think that. I enjoyed the Hell in a Cell more, but I felt the Mania match was a very good match. Certainly a lot better than 'ok'. You are entitled to your opinion but you are the first person I have heard rate it so low. The Backlash match was also very good in my opinion.

Maybe blood isn't needed in the matches, but it certainly adds something. Like I said, it is a question of realism as much as anything.

If WWE banned blading, do you think it would have a big effect on the quality of the product? I may be on my own here, but I think it would.

Well as you said it is my opinion...I sat at WM 24 in the live crowd...and it was a very fun match. But again I don't consider it there best match and it was ok. I can point out a few times in the match where it got a bit boring...only for the momentum to be build up for the awesome finishing sequence. And I want to adress this...now I am not taking a shot directly at you. But everytime...someone disagrees with me on a forum...I get the..."MOST PEOPLE" thing. Well I believe most people...think somethings are better because more people think it. I mean a perfect example is HHH...at a time most people couldn't stand him....and thought oh he is such a bad person. Then suddenly alot of the same people...are praising him as he is the best thing going today. Now that isn't a shot at you Tom...you know it isn't. But if you think it was better, when you get the time...express why you think it was better, instead of saying well most people like it better...yadda yadda but that is your opinion. I think the Cell and TLC matches were better because alot of times I was on the edge of my seat to see what the two men were going to deliver next. At WM the excitement...was for me...seeing Taker keeping his streak. When Edge speared him the 2nd time in that match...for an instant I got worried...which was then converted into Taker's UFC submission. Anyways the point is that in the WM, a few times in the match it got boring...and it isn't because the pace slowed down.

Does blood add to a match? Well yes it does...depending on the build up to the match. But I don't think it takes away if it dosen't happen. Realism well yes...again dependnig on the bases of the feud...but again I don't think it takes away...if it dosen't happen. I mean if we get a first blood and they don't bleed well then maybe we have a problem. LOL

I think it be kind of ridiculous if they took blood away from their matches. But again it wouldn't break my heart if it did.

Please give me credit for having my own opinions.

The most people thing is simply a way of indicating that I know there are a lot of others who agree with me, rather than my opinion being the unusual one.

I enjoyed the match a lot and felt it actually exceeded expectations. The counters and reversals were great and the whole match made Edge look very good. The finish was unexpected and came out of nowhere. My only major criticism is that it didn't feel like a Wrestlemania main event.

So ignore the most people thing, you took it the wrong way. It is not a bandwagon opinion, just an opinion I know others share. If a lot of people think it, usually it shows that there is something in it. I have never heard anyone else say that match was just 'ok', that is all I am saying. Doesn't make your opinion invalid though.

Oh and people like Triple H now? Last time I checked he was more hated than ever.

Ok Tom honestly....I always 98% of the time credit you for your opinion, and for real for real...you know it. And you say credit you for your opinion, yet you claim my opinion is unusual. Just because I don't share the same opinion as many others, that makes it unusual? I always thought it made my opinion different not unusual.

And as far as HHH alot still can't stand him. But there are a hell of alot more that are sticking up for him nowadays as opposed to back from 2003-Cena's title reign.

That is kinda what unusual means.

I guess one reason for no blood is them going more kid friendly, but it should most defiantly be used sparingly.
