The new ECW serves a simple purpose. It is a place for young wrestlers on the rise to get themselves over and make themselves credible by winning a World Championship before they move (back) to one of the other brands. The veterans and established wrestlers are there to put over new talent.
John Morrison, then called Johnny Nitro, moved over from Raw back in 2007 during the draft. He was doing nothing of note on Raw since a good IC title feud with Jeff Hardy. His progress had halted in its tracks and he wasn't even getting on TV most of the time. He was moved over to ECW in the supplemental draft, and due to the Benoit tragedy won the ECW title. That was over a year ago. He lost the title to Punk eventually, but not before defeating him three times on PPV. In fact, he only lost the belt (at that time at least) due to his suspension due to the signature pharmacy thing.
So so long after winning the title, why is Morrison still on ECW? As far as John Morrison is concerned, ECW has served its purpose. He would already be credible to challenge for the WWE title on Smackdown, or at least close to credible enough. He has improved a lot in every capacity, especially on the mic. He has everything required to be a key part of one of the two main brands, yet he is still held back on ECW tagging with The Miz? Don't get me wrong, the Dirt Sheet is funny, but I don't see why Morrison is still around on what is effectively a developmental show which has nothing else for him.

Creative probbably have nothing for him. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
But yes, Morrison's more than ready for a nice push. He's shown he's capable in all the areas he needs to be.. doesn't need to be wasting away on the C show. Hopefully the bookers wake up to this sooner than later.

Well look at it this way... Raw's top spots are stacked. Smackdown has Edge, UT, and HHH then MVP and Jeff Hardy to step up. They are pretty stacked. If he went to any show, the most he'd be is a mid-card champion until room was cleared.

To be honest i think its probably the best place for him! Raw's all full up and Smackdown's focusing on Taker, HHH, Vickie and all them so there's no room for Morrison. So he's got the simple task of dominating ECW for now. He needs to go to raw in the near future though.

That's a bad thing? I would rather they built him up that way so he could establish himself on the brand before getting a World Title push straight away, and it could also make the midcard title look better in the process. Lets get back to the days when the whole purpose of a midcard title was to help guys who were already credible and were surely future World Champions to take that final step.
On Smackdown, I would rather see him as the next World Heavyweight Champion than any of the alternatives though.

Personally, I wouldn't complain if he was IC champion on RAW but to say he should be pushed before Jeff or MVP to me is laughable considering that there is really nothing for them to do besides go up while Morrison still has more building to do >.>

Well like I said, I would ideally have him win a midcard title. Maybe the IC title on Raw. Make it more credible, gradually become more and more credible himself with some big wins, and then make the move to main event. Basically what they should have done with Punk.
>_>
