World Title being made to look less important?

Having CM Punk win the World Heavyweight Championship in the fashion he did was a decision which some loved and others hated. Since then, it seems to me that the title isn't looking as prestigious as it should.

I marked initially for the title win, but soon realized that there were certainly better ways to go about it. For Punk's 'big moment' it certainly didn't seem very special, and actually made him look pretty damn weak. That said, his feud with JBL established the fact that this was intentional, and WWE are trying to make him look like a 'paper champion' only to have him gain underdog victories and gain credibility that way.

The real point in this thread is not even CM Punk, it is the way the title in general is being booked. I understand that Cena vs Batista is a huge match, and therefore the build ended the show in the Raws leading up to Summerslam, but when I watch Raw and see the World Champion being showcased in the middle of the show, or even opening the show with a match, I can't help but think that the title is being made to look like a joke. The World Title should be put over as the holy grail of the business, something everyone aspires to reach, but when the focus is constantly on other things it devalues this.

Do you think the title is being made to look prestigious enough?

Yes and no. I feel as if the WWE title should be the main focus of the brands, but at the same time at certain times and in certain scenarios, things are bigger than the title. Point: Batista/Cena. That being above the title match makes sense due to how big of a deal it is. Now that Punk is getting big wins and becoming more credible, it is time for the title to return to the main event, which it seems to be doing. I am quite sure that the WHC match will be the main event at Unforgiven, where Punk is likely to win. From their, I see Punk and the WHC being in the main event frequently and back to being the norm.

The WWE Title should main event the ppv though not the WHC since the WWE Title is seen as you know the main title no matter what brand it is on..just saying

I say its isnt being made to look less important. Since the dawn of wrestling, programs have revolved around a Championship. Just look at Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan, their careers arent based on anything more than a championship. Ric Flair is known almost soley as the man who won 16 World Championships, and Hogan is known as the man to slam Andre The Giant to the mat and pick up the WWE Championship. Its nice to see wrestling get away from have a Championship define the product. I cant believe Im saying this, but I'd rather watch Cena/Bastista over CM Punk/ JBL anyday.

Meh, it could be built higher, but does it need to be? It's the World's title for Gods sake! At the moment, it's still the biggest thing on RAW, some may argue otherwise with Jericho/HVBK going on, but I disagree. Punk winning the title was good, and he has proven that he has the desire to want to keep the title and work hard to prove nay sayers wrong. And having a champion that is proud and hungry to be champion is a shining light, and people like Punk and Cena, want to be it.

So the belt is prestigious, thanks to the people who work there asses off to get it.
