Before Punk became world champion I found him very boring, tonight I saw Punk with a meanstreak. He wasnt in the ring trying to impress anyone. He saw a weakness and took advantage of it. The fans were solidly behind his opponent, but it really didnt seem to matter. I have yet to see one of his " Oh so epic heel promos", but I'm becoming a Punk fan To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I honestly think the only thing that's preventing Punk from solidfying himself as a main eventer is the booking. I knew Punk would make a good champion if booked right, but right now, it's just bad.
Strange feeling though that at Summerslam, the five men included in the main event will wrestle all in one match, and that's when Punk will "prove" himself.
Frankly, I don't think they'll be turning Punk heel. They had Cena and Batista fight at the end...which kind of gave Batista heat. I'm guessing they'll focus on JBL vs. Punk for Summerslam and that'll be the feud they go with. Meanwhile Batista and Cena will start a feud and I'm guessing Cena is going to be the bigger face in that battle and the fans will start to turn on Batista.

So the Kane and Batista thing for the last three shows meant nothing I guess?
The ONLY thing I hate about this title reign is Punk's position on the card. It seems like he's always shoved out of the way for a "Bigger" meeting. Last Week and The Bash, Cena/JBL's feud main evented for Raw and at the end of the show, they highlighted the new issue between Cena and Batista. There's a reason why Chris Benoit and Rob Van Dam's title reigns were poor, they were always pushed aside for a "Bigger" feud. It's just not smart booking of your champion.

Honestly, his reign is just getting better. The way he won it is easily disputable as to if it's bad or good, but I love how they're having him be the "champion fighting to prove himself". He fucking owned Batista for a good portion of both matches and is just getting better and better.
I'm not sure what'll happen at Summerslam, I see Cena/Batista going at it, and JBL/Punk, but where will Kane be? So interesting.

Hows he being booked bad? He's doing the noble face thing by accepting every challenge against him. However, at the same time he appears to be getting angered at the fact that no one is showing him respect. He is the World Champion and people are telling him that he will face, when in actual fact it should be him telling them when he will fight them. He doesnt even have to defend his title at SS because he has defended it three times in two weeks. This anger because of the disrespect is also causing Punk to gain a meanstreak. He is doing the noble face thing, but at times the way he looks in the ring is almost heel like. I'm really enjoying Punks booking and I havent ever been this interested in him.

Jim basically said it all. He's supposed to be the number one guy, yet he has only beat JBL and it can be argued by marks whether it was a fluke or not, he hasn't beat Batista two nights in a row, he didn't beat Kane last week. It just seems as if the E hasn't gave him the ball yet, that's why I said Summerslam it will be the day Punk puts himself as the top guy on Raw.
So what he hasnt beaten them yet, thats only because he is one man and everyone wants a shot at what they believe is the easiest champion to beat. He has accepted their challenges whenever asked to do so and he has held his own. They are all just screwing eachother over. I would bet you my house that SS will see a fatal 4 way between Punk, Kane, Batista & JBL, and Punk will retain his title.
Batista and Kane will hopefully be resolved on Raw and then Kane will go on with his main purpose of the whole "is he dead or alive" bullshit. Or at least that's the way I see it. But then again, I really don't care. Fact of the matter that Punk has gotten a crap push as champion.
