At Night of Champions, Kofi became the newest Intercontinental Champion after beating Chris Jericho. He debuted recently and he is already the mid card champ on the A show. You can tell the WWE has big plans for him, and he will continue to be pushed.

This title is made to groom talent into the main event. Does Jericho need that? No. Does CM Punk? No. Does Kofi? Yes. It was a good decision because this guy has a lot of potential. Now that he's actually gonna face talent, I guarantee in about two months everyone will be on this kids bandwagon.
He's getting the Rocky Maivia, Santino Marella push that I can only hope bombs right in front of us. The guy's biggest win came against Shelton Benjamin since coming to the WWE. This is yet another step in making the IC title a complete joke. You either give the title to guys who only fights main eventers while ignoring the championship (Hardy or Jericho) or you give the title to new guys who haven't proven anything yet (Santino or now Kofi). Kofi did not need the IC title yet. Before now, all he's been doing is facing the bottom of the barrel wrestlers on ECW. There was so much more they could have done before giving him the IC title. Have him feud against Snitsky, Santino and Chuck Palumbo. After that, then maybe he might be ready to be a CHALLENGER to the IC title.
The IC title isn't meant to take a complete nobody and make them into a major star. Those reigns often times bomb (Maivia, Santino). The IC title is there to give that wrestler one final accomplishment to make them ready for the main event. That's why The Rock's second IC title reign was far better than his first. By 1998, he was ready for the IC title. The IC champion should be someone who could be able to put a good fight up against the World Champion and possibly even beat him. Kofi meanwhile, I can still see him be beaten by the likes of Charlie Haas, Snitsky, Mike Knox or Santino on any given night. If the IC title should of went to anyone, it should of been Punk who really needs something to help boost him up again.
Putting the belt around Kofi is yet another example of the WWE pushing him down our throats. As each month goes by, I find myself hating this overrated wrestler more and more.

No Kofi isnt being pushed too fast. There arent many people on Raw who can hold the IC Title and it was obvious that Jericho was on a side track with HBK. I'm pretty tired of people being up CM Punks ass as he has been nothing but normal since stepping into WWE (imo). Besides, it appears that the Punk theories matter no more.
With Kofi as champion, the IC title can now be defended in an actual feud for the first time in what, two years!? Kofi is already over with fans and he has a challanger already seemingly lined up for him in Cade.
I don't get what the big deal is. One minute people are bitching about the title not being defended. Now people are bitching about Kofi winning the title too fast, but after what happened tonight everyone is marking out like a virgin who is about to score with a girl out of their league.
Be happy that piece of crap title is going to get some credibility through matches and it will hopefully elevate superstars like Lance Cade and Kofi Kingston.

Yeah because retaining your title because your opponent grabbed your tights will really add credibility.

Well I wouldn't have even had Kofi win the title to being with.
If it was up to me though, I would of taken Jericho out of the picture right away. On his first night on Raw, have Kofi wrestle someone like Jamie Noble. Have Noble actually look like he could beat Kofi (aka don't book Kofi as unstoppable yet), but in the end have Noble mess up with Kofi hitting Trouble in Paradise to win. Keep doing those lowcard matches and eventually bring Lance Cade back into the picture in a month or so. Just have Cade say how Kofi is a nothing champion beating nobodies and it's about time he steps up and takes on a real athlete if he wants to walk around with the IC title. During the entire time Kofi is beating lowcarders, keep Cade wrestling bigger names with Chris Jericho. Personally, I would have Cade beat Kofi to show that Kofi needs more work (Think Morrison vs Punk series) and continue the feud while slowly introducing Kofi to bigger names (ALWAYS have him struggle though). Eventually, Kofi will look like a realistic midcarder.
I get it, Kofi has some fans and he has the support by the WWE. I hate Triple H, Orton, and several other guys the WWE pushes. But I understand why they push him. So I understand Kofi will be pushed. However, they skipped a critical step in his building in my opinion.
