Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() | Raw Superstar Review 11th April Ok guys this is a new article I intend to run every week for the Raw Superstars focusing on how much they have contributed to the current product. Basically it's gonna be a short opinion followed by marks out of five for In Ring/Promo/Overall Show Contribution to current storyline. RVD Usual smooth spot-fest in the ring, his match was basically their to make him look strong and to give Shelton a chance on the Mic at the desk. His post match promo was charatistically weak tho and Rob's attempts to rekindle his intense One Night Stand promo have still not come to fruition. IR 3/5 Promo 2/5 Overall 3/5 Rob Conway A shame to see this talented wrestler basically reduced to Jobber status. A real look at the future for some Spirit Squad members maybe? IR 2/5 Promo N/A Overall 1/5 Shelton Raw was a two pronged thing for Shelton. It was his chance A) to improve on the stick and B) to show he can sell an up coming match. Shelton Vs RVD has the makings of a classic match, it's a shame neither of them can auctually sell the match for PPV. IR N/A Promo 1/5 Overall 1/5 Mickie Continues to bring real hope for the Women's division. Her pre-promo with Maria was excellent and she play's the split personality incredibly realistically. Her match was reasonable considering Maria's lack of in-ring talent. IR 3/5 Promo 4/5 Overall 3/5 Trish Obviously did'nt have too much to do on the show but carried what she had to do really well. After seeing Gail Kim and Molly leave last year she must really be relishing the fun of having someone like Mickie on the show. IR N/A Promo 3/5 Overall 2/5 Maria Maria's strength's are looking hot and playing dumb. She carries them off to perfection so really we should applaud her contribution to the show. Also, even tho it was painfully set out, she managed a few elaborate moves in her match with Mickie. I/R 3/5 (this is 3/5 in Maria's world, would not apply to trained divas) Promo 3/5 Overall 3/5 Kane Quite obvious from tonight's show that Kane's next month duties are to be all about promoting his film so, unfortunatly, just when his amusing side was starting to re-emerge we're gonna be forced to listen to horribly contrived maniacal laughter and heavy breathing once more. I/R 3/5 Promo 3/5 Overall 3/5 Big Show Just there to do a job with Kane for the movie. Big Show is once more ticking over. However the line "I've dated girls bigger than you" line grabs him a promo point. I/R 1/5 Promo 3/5 Overall 2/5 Spirit Squad These guys are truly a very charasmatic, talented bunch of guys. WWE do seem to be trying their hardest to make them individually recognisable now and the 5 men holding the belts is going to garner them some recognition. However on a Raw show where only two guys are natural faces (Carlito and RVD) I don't think creating 5 new "sissy" heels is going to contribute to the longevity of either their careers or the show. I am instantly reminded of how well recieved Rene Dupree, Sylvan Grenier and Rob Conway are right now. Also I noticed that seeing as the time the SS had in front of the crowd this week (they ran thru two breaks) was longer the cavorting at ringside slowed and slowed as time went by. This shows that the gimmick is very short term if they can't carry it 20 mins. I/R 3/5 Promo 2/5(for general dancing and mucking about) Overall 3/5 Vince As an agnostic I find people mocking religion amusing to my sensibilities but also realise that it is crass to broadcast such material as it is simply incendary to peoples beliefs. Luckily the Christian world will just pour scorn on this tastless bit of mockery. I can't help wondering what would happen if Vince mocked a more flamable religion. He does do it well tho. I/R N/A Promo 4/5 (for delivery) Overall 1/5 Shane was there too I/R N/A Promo 1/5 Overall 0/5 Weird Cuban with DRRDDDDRD in his name A true 1980's style manager. Is this a good thing? Maybe if he had some talent to manage. I/R N/A Promo 2/5 Overall 1/5 Umaga Pointless, just cannot see the point. I/R 0/5 Promo N/A Overall 0/5 Chris Jobber Must be really bad to have to job to a jobber in disguise. I/R 0/5 Promo N/A Overall 0/5 Carlito The world has been waiting for this guy to go face. A true beacon in the rookies for WWE right now. The new Rock? I/R n/A Promo 5/5 Overall 4/5 Masters This guys in-ring work is very high calibre compared to a lot of the rookie names out there and a program with Carlito for me is an absoloute dream. It will hopefully prove that correctly chosen feuds can elevate new stars naturally rather than endless vignettes and pushes against already established names. If they can keep this fresh thru untill SS we will have two bona-fide Superstars. I/R N/A Promo 3/5 Overall 3/5 HHH With the lines between Face and Heel so blurred between the three main eventers it's good to see HHH be able to use some of his natural humour once in a while whilst maintaining his Heel persona. I/R 3/5 Promo 4/5 Overall 4/5 John Cena Similar to what I just said about Trips but reversed. Now the lines are blurred his bordering on tweener status and his nicely crafted shots at internet fans are making him a better prospect. And despite his limited move-set what he does carry out in the ring is smooth and error-free. I/R 4/5 Promo 3/5 Overall 4/5 Edge Very similar to the reviews of HHH and Cena. Being part of a revoloutionary (three heel main event status) new style of booking is raising Edge's status week on week as he continously looks like a guy at home at the top of the card. I/R 4/5 Promo 4/5 Overall 4/5 Hope you liked that and I hope you find time to comment. If there is enough intrest I will run it every week. |
