I have been so impressed by Mick Foley's return, the way him and Edge have crafted their feud using old quotes, building on simple past mistakes by the current booking team (Foley knowing Edge will come thru the crowd, and knowing that Lita would try to low blow him) and instead of the usual build going into a PPV (face wins then heel wins then heel cheats then face comes back strong then beatdown b4 the PPV) they use a psychology that changes between one guy pursuing the other to the hunter becoming the hunted. I just can't believe how fresh it feels. And it's not as if they've been given loads of TV time week-on-week. They've built it top to bottom sensibley, enough confrontation to keep you intrested without seeing an early blow-off. No-one would begrudge this fued going 3 PPV's from here.
And the whole damn thing just screams Foley's input.
And that makes me think, what if Foley was booking the card for everyone like this. What if he was taking the time to look at everyone's situations and giving them all the chance to have fueds that bore relevance to the past 6 years rather than the last 6 Raws. I really hope that when Steph goes on hiatus they consider Mick holding the book. Never the one to over-promote himself (he hands out more receipts than K-Mart) surely he could get to grips with elevating new talent and keeping the show relevant and fresh. It just seems logical to me.
By the way the * from the title meant * apart from Paul Heyman.
He does really bring fueds to a front doesnt he? Something about the way its delivered, while somewhat same hat always works because it still gets mixed up.
A simple thing is taking out the roses first making you think thats all that was in the box. (or at least temporarily forgetting about his box still in the ring)
His Orton fued EASILY put Randy on the Main event map for good.
Now his fued with Edge is top notch because of the knowledge and friendship they have for each other.
Edge is also playing a nice role in this fued with his new "R Rated" gimmick. He seems to be shooting a lot more now. Or quasi shooting.
Its the fact that Edge and Foley are not treating us like we are stupid enough to think they are stupid enough to fall for the same ole shit.
I absolutely salivate over the idea of Mick Foley being the head booker. It would be absolute GOLD. The little details he would be able to add to any storyline would be such a nice refreshing touch.
I have to admit, when I first learned of an Edge/Foley feud I was less then thrilled. Not because I don't like them, I really like both of them, but it seemed so much like Orton/Foley.. like we had seen it all before.
Then the way they got hooked up with Edge's lame excuse about Foley costing him didn't help either.
However, after seeing the feud progress for the last few weeks, I'm interested now. I think Edge will win but I'm still interested nonetheless.
This feud reminds me of why I love Mick and should remind all of us just how much Mick really did bring to the table in his career.
I would really like to see Mick around on a full-time basis for about a year now. Not full-time in the ring, but full-time on the air. I think Foley now can help some of the young faces on the roster get some heat and some momentum just by how well Foley is playing the heel.
