Before recently, WWE was much criticised for having too many PPVs. However, since then, PPVs such as New Years Revolution and December to Dismember have been axed, leaving 14 PPVs per year. I personally preferred it when there was only one PPV a month, so is 14 still too many?
If it was up to me One Night Stand and Cyber Sunday would be the ones to go.

12 a year in my mind is still too many. It's hard to really build on anything when your year is broken up into 12 month fragments. In my mind, Pay Per Views should be a big deal instead of a normal occurance. Often times, Pay Per Views are the first match in a feud, which goes against my beliefs for what a PPV should be used for.
While there are some Pay Per Views that isn't really hurting anything, I think it's crazy to have a Pay Per View the month before a big one. Once you get to the Royal Rumble, you should be building for as good of a Wrestlemania as possible. But while building for it, you're forced into building for some other Pay Per View. No Way Out has perhaps the most thrown together matches out of all over PPVs. A lot of matches are made to simply hold a wrestler over. Case in point, The Undertaker. In 2005, he wrestled and defeated Luther Reigns. Now, I'll give anyone a free rep and all of my points if they can tell me A) When the feud began and B) What the feud was about, without looking it up or checking the DVD. This is Pay Per View we're talking about. To watch it, we need to shell out our hard earned money to watch it. So why are you forcing us to pay money for a match that deserves to be on Smackdown?
The one thing that has saddened me over the years is how the commentators dress at Pay Per Views. At one time, everyone (With the exception of Jesse Ventura, but it fit his gimmick) used to be dressed up in tuxedos for every PPV. These days, unless it's Wrestlemania, they're dressed up like it's just another Monday or Tuesday night. That to me tells me that even they don't see PPVs meaning anything anymore.
The chances of PPVs being decreased even more past 12, is very unlikely. While it may not be good for storylines, more PPVs means more money for the company. But if it was up to me, this would be the PPV schedule for the WWE:
Jan: Royal Rumble
Late March/Early April: Wrestlemania
June: ECW/Smackdown's Judgment Day
August: Summerslam
September: Raw's Unforgiven
November: Survivor Series
---
You have the classic 4, then one Brand PPV for each brand (ECW is of course lumped with SD) to give more wrestlers a shot at getting on PPV. These PPVs would be treated more as In Your House's then major PPVs though.

To be fair, concerning No Way Out, they made a good decision this year in introducing the Elimination Chambers. Now, No Way Out is not a PPV which is in the way of the Wrestlemania build. Rather, a PPV which contributes to that build. If No Way Out remains as a PPV like this, with only one chamber in future (because Cena this year had his title shot at NWO) to decide the other title challenger, then I think No Way Out will make Mania seem like an even bigger deal rather than hinder it.

I don't like your idea. I like the idea of a PPV every month.
With that said, Backlash April 27th, Judgment Day May 18th, and One Night Stand June 1st is just a horrid clump. All the PPVs have potential to be great (one already being great), BUT that's 120$ or so in just a few days over a month.Too much and too rushed.
If I were to remove two, I'd remove Judgment Day replacing it with One Night Stand (the third PPV for many feuds so gimmick matches would make sense) and no Mercy. I like the idea of ONS and Cyber Sunday as I feel PPVs with gimmicks (as long as they aren't whored out or shit) is a good idea. Every PPV should have SOMETHING special about it.
Royal Rumble: Well, you know.
No Way Out: Last stop before Mania + maybe ECs
Wrestlemania: If I have to explain it to you, you get slapped.
Backlash: The Backlash of Wrestlemania
One Night Stand: Stipulation Night
Night of Champions: Night where all titles are on the line
Great American Bash: ???
Summerslam: Biggest Par-tay of the summer~!
Unforgiven: Fallout of Summerslam
Cyber Sunday: You know it.
Survivor Series: You know it.
Armageddon: Fall out of Survivor Series

I still find it crazy that for the first 3 months this year, each PPV had a gimmick match where the winner gets a title shot. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Am I the only one who thinks Elimination Chambers at No Way Out is a horrible idea?
And the question in point is quite obviously there are too many PPVs. You can miss a PPV and it won't affect you at all, each one should feel like a big deal and like a must see show, instead some matches seem to be plucked straight from a RAW or Smackdown card. I know if I had to pay for all of them, I sure as hell woudn't buy them all, I'd probably only bother with about 5 a year. I'd say PPVs like Vengence, Judgement Day, No Mercy, etc are all pretty expendable and havent been worth watching the last couple of years.
I do like the idea of Cyber Sunday though =\

So you don't like it? It makes Wrestlemania seem huge, and it makes more sense than just having someone randomly challenge for a Wrestlemania title match. If the Royal Rumble winner has to go through all that to earn it, it is dumb if someone else gets a title match for nothing. Look at the epic battle between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in the Rumble last year. They were giving everything for that opportunity, and what happens? Michaels gets a shot anyway, at the more prestigious title. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
This way, Wrestlemania title matches look like a bigger deal because both challengers have to face gruelling tasks to earn their shot. Plus, it gives No Way Out a point, and not just a PPV in the way of the road to Wrestlemania.
