A WWE PPV In A Foreign Country?

Who would be up for this?

And i don't just mean going to Canada to do a PPV, I mean somewhere like Australia or the UK.

Of course there has been the numerous PPV's in the UK like Rebelion, One Night Only and the greatest of them all, Summerslam 1992.

The reason i'm asking, is i have been hearing rumours of the Royal Rumble possibly coming from the UK next year which would be huge.

What are your thoughts on WWE doing another PPV abroad??

I would love for an Aussie one. I think one from Sydney definitely makes sense. Although the only problem would be co-ordinating it with the Time in the U.S. Cause at the end of the day, the States is the major market.

It would definitely work though and i think a new location would make it truly classic. Like 1992's Summerslam from Wembley Stadium

I'm not sure they'd be able to use something as big as Wembley Stadium (when it's finished) again. Not because they wouldn't sell it, because over here they probably would, but I'm sure they would have policing issues in trying to keep the stadium (and have thousands and thousands of fans trying to get home at 4 O'clock in the morning from London) open till then.

Maybe not such a problem if it were a much smaller venue, but that would kind of defeat the object of bringing it here since surely the main reason would be to emphasise the size of the company globally by showing them performing in front of an 80,000 crowd. Doing it in a regular 10,000 arena would just be like having a normal American show, why bring it here for that?

In '92 there was no internet community to ruin the show for people in America, now....would people Stateside would buy the PPV if it was recorded earlier in the day and all the results were known already.

They show clips sometimes of when WWE is on tour in other countries and I think it is in Japan that the fans go absolutely crazy for wrestling. That would definitely be a good atmosphere for a pay per view.

I'm a good old rebel,
Now thats just what I am,
And for this Yankee nation,
I do not give a damn.
I'm glad we fought against her,
I only wish we'd won.
I ain't asking any pardon for anything we've done.

I'm not sure if they would want to risk losing buyrates by taping a PPV, so they would have to do it based on US Time. That means starting at 1AM in the UK or 1PM in Australia, the Australia one might be more realistic. Even a PPV in Japan would work since 8PM in the EST timezone is 11AM in Japan.

I would be up for it, especially since they hopefully wouldn't half ass it like they do when Raw/SD go to the UK.

1am isnt that unrealistic time for a PPV over here, its happened a few times with Boxing fight and its been ok, but I agree with Dynamite Dave that it should be in a normal arena, the MEN is the most likely option as its the biggest indoor arena England

Crock is right, i think the last Ricky Hatton fight was at 2am UK time and i know i wouldn't mind if a PPV happened at that time of night.

It would be nice to have a foriegn PPV because i get board of the same american arenas getting PPV's over and over again when they have such an untapped resource in the rest of the world.

But you're not answering what the point is to the WWE then Mikk and Crock?

If they're just staging it in the MEN or a smaller arena then that's worthless to them. That's the kind of arena they stage UK only PPV's in anyway. The only reason to come to the UK and do a PPV over here for a Stateside audience is to project the company as huge globally and do it at Wembley or Millenium or Old Trafford or somewhere massive and those places are just not going to accept the policing required for having 60,000 plus people leaving an arena at after 3am in the morning with the rest of the delinquents you find in major cities on weekends.

It's not happening guys!

Wasn't the Hatton fight the main event? So after that the show finished? If a WWE PPV was in the UK then It wouldn't finish until 3-4am.

If any of you have seen the documentary about how Live 8 was put together you'll see the struggle Geldof had with the police when the show over ran and people were leaving Hyde park at 11pm... they only got the ok at the last min because one of the Cabinet was in the crowd and negotiated with the police about the whole thing. So if a charity event such as Live 8 struggled to get Police clearance at such a late hour, then I highly doubt that a WWE event would get it.

I also agree with DK, unless the event is in the Millennium Stadium, or Wembley then it would be pointless.

I think a PPV in Australia or Japan would be more feasable since 8PM EST would be noon in eastern Australia or 10AM in Japan.
