Montel Vontavious Porter has a big future in WWE and I think he will definately hold the World Heavyweight Championship on Smackdown, but which superstar do you think is most crucial to the brand in general?

I would have to say Undertaker. He has been on Smackdown for a long time now, and in my mind he has become a Smackdown instiution. He puts over the young talent on Smackdown, makes everyone look good even if he defeats them, and consistently puts on great matches even after all these years.

There were rumours of USA putting pressure on WWE to move Undertaker to Raw, in order to help the failing ratings. It would be good to see the Deadman on Raw, but I think it would be too damaging to Smackdown. Undertaker is the key man on the show, and Smackdown would not be the same without him. Batista is over, Edge is a great top heel etc, but Undertaker is the man who makes Smackdown what it is, and even if someone like Michaels or Triple H came over to replace him, I don't think it would be good for the brand. When I think of Smackdown, the first thing I think of is The Undertaker.

He deserves the title, and hopefully a long reign.

If you're talking about who is the most crucial to the brand than yeah, it's the Undertaker hands down. He's great. Always improving and stepping up his game. He puts over younger talent (look at that match with Festus) and he's good about adding things to his move set from time to time.

Otherwise, I'd have to say it's Matt Hardy. I know he gets a lot of praise but I think he deserves every word of it. He is very over and goes out there and puts on great matches every week. I don't know if anyone on Smackdown!'s mid-card has a brighter future than he does.

^ I wouldn't put Matt Hardy at 2. I think he'd be behind Edge and Rey Mysterio.

Undertaker is the most crucial to the brand. He is definetly the top face, and he is always over. Kids love him, teens love him, and adults love him. He sells merchandise and can sell a ppv. He's been the face of Smackdown for ahwile now and it'd feel weird without him. The only other person on Smackdown that it'd feel weird if they left for another brand would be Rey Mysterio. He's been injured too much lately and just hasn't been as big as the Undertaker.

I think Edge is close behind though. He played the champion heel so well. Without him, I can't imagine who would be at the top heel position. MVP couldn't handle it, and I can never see him in a main event. Edge has his little faction that is one of the biggest parts of Smackdown. He's the guy you love to hate, and has done a great job in the main event.

And Batista. Like him or not, he has drawn for a long time and has been a constant fixture in the main event scene for a long time too.

Wow, I totally forgot all about Batista. He is definetly in the top 3 for MVP of Smackdown. He was in something like 13 straight PPV main events for Smackdown. That's pretty insane. He's been able to keep a strong crowd as of late. He was getting some heat last year, but it seems to have gone away. He has improved so much on Smackdown in both the ring and in the mic. I'd still put him behind Taker and Edge, but Batista has become a huge part of Smackdown.

I think a lot of people like Batista more since The Undertaker feud. If I remember rightly, people were saying his match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23 would suck, and it turned out to be a great match, and so were their other encounters. I know The Undertaker is amazing, but Batista's performances in the matches were at a high level, and I respect him more as a wrestler because of it. His character also became more interesting, because that was the first time I saw him in a tweener-ish role.

I'd have to say, by far, Edge is the MVP of Smackdown. Sure Undertaker can put heel wrestlers over, but really on the current Smackdown roster, who has he put over as someone who is ready for the main event? Edge right now is the man who is carrying the Smackdown brand from the heel side of things. You can claim that MVP will soon be ready, but it seems pretty obvious to me that WWE officials feel he isn't ready yet. For the past three+ months he has been doing nothing but floating around the brand, waiting for a Matt Hardy return.

The Undertaker is number one for all the reasons previously given. From Brock Lesnar to The Big Show to Kurt Angle to Randy Orton to The Great Khali to Ken Kennedy to MVP Undertaker has either made or solidified some of the top stars on the show for 5 years.
