So now the grandest stage of them all has set, and the one man dynasty has continued. In a shocking turn of events, Randy Orton retained his WWE Title. Now does this make him one of the best champs ever? Hell no. What it does do is him, imo the second most dominant heel champion in the 2000 era.
Now, we all know that Cena vs. Orton or HHH vs. Orton will happen sooner rather then later, but how long do you think the proclaimed one man dynasty to reign supreme?
I think WWE only did this to shock people. It certainly worked. I thought Triple H would win, I could see Cena winning, but I thought it was a certainty that Orton would lose the belt. How wrong I was.
I think we will see a new WWE Champion in a rematch at Backlash though.

I really hope not. I wish they would have Orton dominate 2008 as he said he would, and finally lose to a new face in Raw, but I know that won't happen.
God no. I can't stand Orton. He plays the heel really well, but he is just, um dull. I think that WWE knew everyone thought Orton would lose so they made him win for the shock factor. I didn't really want any of them to win, but ah, I got my wish.

Well you would need a plan to do that, and it sounds like you don't have anyone in mind. Maybe CM Punk cashing in his briefcase I guess, that would get him over big time. I think Raw's brightest prospect is a heel (Kennedy), but Punk could go for the WWE title after months more Orton, and that would work well. I do like long reigns when they are heel reigns, and I don't really want to see Cena or Triple H hold the gold again, so I agree with you. I think Orton should keep it for a while longer then use this opportunity to introduce new blood into the title picture. Hardy got himself suspended and probably won't be getting back up there anytime soon so WWE need new stars in the title scene to keep it interesting. I suppose the draft could change things too.
I do like Orton. He plays his role well, and I like the way while he does cheat for some victories, and holds onto the title cheaply with DQs from time to time, he does win a lot of matches clean. I like the way WWE put him over as sadistic, cowardly BUT also damn good, and capable of beating anyone clean. He is a good heel to hold the belt for a long time.

Retaining the title on the biggest stage is just what Randy needed, he had to get a win like that for his reign to really mean something. I'll be more content seeing Randy lose the belt at a future PPV now just because he's has a good run.

Wrestlemania made Rated RKO look so fucking good. Orton's "cheap win" helped him so much and gained him a lot of credibility while Edge was also made to look stellar. Now onto Randy Orton, it's hard to say exactly who he will lose to. If he doesn't lose to HHH or John Cena, I could honestly see him dropping the belt to Shawn Michaels or hold it for awhile longer and drop it to Punk (If he is built up correctly.)

I was so glad when he retained. That was the reason why it wasn't the main event. I think Ken said it before, that they won't end Mania on an unhappy note. The match itself was dissapointing to me, and I thought it could've been better. This is exactly what Orton needed, and this makes his title reign 10x more credible. I hope we get to see his character shine even more in the coming weeks.

That was the biggest WTF moment of the night. No one really expected him to do it. I didn't. First time in a while a heel retained the world title at Mania
