ok umm...lemme think of a topic..
ok...what do you think about all of the recent 80's-ish cartoony gimmicks?(i.e the Boogeyman, Paul Burchill,Spirit Squad,etc.)

I think it is pretty stupid. I will admit that the Boogeyman does ocasionally entertain me, but he really cant wrestle that well. I find Burchill being a pirate to be incredibly stupid, but I am happy that someone thats as good a wrestler as him is getting tv time. As for the Spirit Squad, they were OVW's best. They are kinda entertaining, but it's a complete waste of he talent. Putting the practically the top 5 wrestlers from OVW in a stable as male cheerleaders is ridiculous. There is also so gimmicks for people coming out of OVW that are extremely stupid. There's a roller skating waitress(ugh),a tagteam where their gimmick is being two cool guys, and Osama(who is supposed to be a really good wrestler, but his name pretty much tells you the gimmick)

We know by now that Vince is a sucker for these kind of gimmicks, but if some casual viewer turns on, lets say Smackdown on, to try to get into wrestling, and they see a pirate, is that gonna wanna make them watch it? The cartoony gimmicks are good for some people, because of the tv time, but also, some of them are gimmicks that once they're over, you really cant go anywhere from that. Take Muhammad Hassan for example. That was a gimmick that he was stuck with. If he wasn' released and they tried to revamp him, it wouldn't have worked,because people would realise that it was Muhammed Hassan. I think that is a waste because he seemed to be a pretty devent wrestler and pretty charismatic. One of the few people that could be given a different gimmick would be Nick Dinsmore. The Eugene gimmick is old and just really stupid. He is lucky, he can cut his hair, shave his beard, and talk regularly and go back to how he was in OVW. It's all just really stupid.....

For the most part I agree. I am not a fan of these gimmicks at all. While sometimes they can be entertaining, they no longer can recieve real pushes it seems. I mean todays fans just don't want to see a pirate, handi-cap, or cheerleader get titles. Atleast I don't think they do. Granted right know the soirit squad could get the tag titles and I don't think anyone would care.

The only one of these gimmicks that has the ability to be pushed is boogeyman in my opinion. They just need to have him do some real matches. I can't even tell you if he can wrestle or not his matches never last over 5 min. and he usually dominates most of it.

Now with that being said, I think the reason Vince likes these gimmicks is they appeal to little kids. I think he hopes to catch their attention young so they will basically grow up with the company.
