Not surprising they edit something like that in considering they always try to get good shots of a wrestler's fans and I don't think they always have the shot they want. A little editing is nothing.
I doubt they have to edit pops in though. They wouldn't be putting him in commercials and giving face time if he wasn't really liked.

Anyway, SmackDown has been using edited footage, and dubbed pops for years. This isn't news. Although I doubt Hardy needs the pops dubbed, it's always good to see a particularly enthusiastic fan or a great sign.
A re-used image and fake pops are totally different things. Jeff Hardy gets pops because, contrary to what John said up there, he is way over with the fans and has a huge - and very dedicated - fan base.
