Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Should WWE bring back "WCW"? just thinking about it, wwe brought back ecw. (even though its a lame ecw) could thy also bring back wcw just to make wwe look better again, or just bring it back to get more ratings, in the future i think this will happen, we just have to wait until wwe gets more superstars. your thoughts and opinions?

If it were me when they bought out WCW they could have easily kept WCW, and used it to their benefit. If they kept WCW going and just said Shane owns it they could cash in on that. But of course Vince couldn't do that, and instead had to destroy it. Big shocker.

A lot of ECW fans were hardcore to the bone for the promotion itself and had a major MAJOR hatred of the Eric Bischoff led WCW. WWE was a major creditor in keeping ECW going as long as it did (in it's first incarnation) and as such those fans, whilst not being WWE marks, didn't have a 100% hatred of the Vince McMahon promotion. WCW fans hate Vince. When Vince was going to run a version of WCW it became very obvious, very quick, that he was going to get no new viewers off the back of doing this. Those fans don't like Vince's promotion, his style of wrestling and him and a whole load of them just turned their back on wrestling full stop once the real WCW was gone. So for Vince, there was no motivation to get WCW running once this became clear. He also virtually none of the top 15 WCW wrestlers when they went out of business, and that wasn't going to help things. At the end of the day, all he really wanted for buying WCW (and it's certainly paid off when looking at DVD sales) was their match library so he could go ahead and make some excellent (and full) career retrospectives. The ECW chants continued long after the promotions death (did anyone ever hear any WCW chants!?) so people got in Vince's ear and lo "One Night Stand" happened. The success of which ultimately made him decide to run three promotions. And yes, this ECW is not really ECW and yes it sucks a huge one most of the time, but it doesn't lose Vince money, so it's not altogether a 100% failure and that's why it lives in whatever sucky form it does.

I think WCW wasn't brought back because there wasn't really much to bring back. At the time, people like Booker T, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, etc had become big names on WWE television. Everyone from Goldberg to Billy Kidman had their stint in WWE. We even saw a WWE version of the NWO come and go. So I ask, what else was there to bring back? WCW already had a very similar product, and considering how much the invasion angle failed, I really don't think that "WCW" chants would have made much of a difference.
