I guarantee if he had faced Foley three times in a row, in three regular one-on-one matches, they would get worse each month. Foley was in his element so was able to make the matches good before the bell even rang, all he had to do afterwards was show up & take a beating.

Put anyone against that calibre of opponent & your going to get a good match. I never denied Triple H was still a good wrestler, i just said he wasent as good as before. His ladder match against the Rock in 1998 for the IC title was much better than any of the six he had against him in 2000.
Foley was way past his best in the matches he faced him in(If you read Foleys autobigraphies he says how out of shape he was at that stage of his career), Angle was still knew to the pro wrestling buisness and had nowhere near peaked yet, Steve Austin had just come back from serious neck surgery and his Ironman match with The Rock is the best Ironman match in the WWE to date(Much better than the Bret Hart/Shawn Micheals bore at Wrestlemania XII) which kept the public on the edge of their seat for the whole hour.

Re: triple h question

I'll have to agree with God here. I think that he had his best matches as far as overness around the 2000 area, but this was brought up to talk about his wrestling ability, not who he faced. Based on his ability alone I tend to agree the leaner HHH was a meaner HHH when it came to in ring skill.

Re: triple h question

HHH's peak ended in the match with the torn quad against Jericho/Benoit. When he came back he way to jacked on roids, plus the injury, just didn't move as well as before. Late 90s he was the workhorse of the WWF, and probably all around best on the roster at the time. And this was prolly the last time anyone gave a shit about the tag belts.
