ecw ECW: Failure or Major Success?

Since ECW made it's return has it been a failure or major success in WWE?

In my opinion it is a failure, WWE has tried every single thing from one thing to another to destroy ECW. WWE/ECW claims to be "Extreme" but to me they aren't, they are a crappy version of FCW and OVW.

Be free to choose one too.

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

As ECW its been a failure. As a brand its been a success to a point. It has given Morrision, Miz, Kane, Dreamer & a lot of others something to do. It has made CM Punk. It has re-invented Viscera & to a lesser degree Shelton Benjamin. If only they'd send Umaga over to dominate....

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

ecw is ok. its like diet wwe. just like smackdown is like diet raw.

the only shining stars on that program are cm punk, and john morrison o.. and the talented mr. benjamin.
and the miz is becoming very good as well.

the ecw originals arent as great as they used to be and thats ok, because its not really their fault.

i could see when the draft comes around, moving punk and morrison and maybe miz to smackdown or even punk to raw. but other than that ecw is pretty boring. i watch it hoping maybe for some smackdown crossovers due to the talent exchange.. but more or less the hour is a waste except for one match maybe.

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

I don't think it is fair to ask which extreme ECW's return falls at as I think most unbiased fans will agree that though the brand has been successful, its quality has been way below the level of the original ECW. I think when we look back years from now I think this version of ECW will be best remembered for those that were first pushed in ECW and moved onto success on RAW and SD - both good (Punk, Burke, Morrison) and bad (Vis).

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

It makes Vince money, so in his eyes it's been a great success.

And it is a good opportunity for younger and under-used talents to get their chance to shine. Alright it isn't ECW anymore, but it never really was going to be within WWE.

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

I like it. When i watch it every tuesday for the most part it is entertaining. obviously its not as extreme as the old ecw because when they brought it back it was never meant to be the same as the old ecw. I think its a good use to get wrestler's tv time that would never even make it to tv if they were on raw or SD! and it allows them to get comfortable doing promos and such. ECW is where they can go to work on their character and get better and then move to SD or Raw later on.

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

People only buy tickets for ECW, because Smackdown is tapped after ECW is over XD. They buy the tickets for SD not ECW. With the exception of a few hundred people.

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

I've only seen the new ECW maybe 3 or 4 times since its return. From what I see its ok I see it as a great place to bring in talent ala Burke, Punk, Kingston and Knox. Also has other great talent like Shelton, morrison, and Thorn, while keeping some of its old flair like Dreamer and Stevie R.
