Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

It's a loaded question, tbh.

Living up to the name, ECW has been a failure, no question.

Quality-wise, it has been a great success, in my eyes. After a shaky start, it is now probably the most entertaining of the WWE shows as a whole, despite being only an hour long.

Decent matches, decent wrestlers and great commentary is a good combination. I used to be a huge fan of Smackdown but it has just been woeful recently. I fucking hate Deuce and Domino, and they make me hade an episode of SD even more when they rear their ugly mugs...

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

I don't see how you (or anyone) can say it's a failure.

This year it has a battle royal, a title match and three out of seven participants in the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Add that to the fact that it's good for elevating talent, and providing good in ring action. The shorter, grittier stepbrother to Raw and Smackdown also happens to be Sci Fi's highest rated show...

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

I like it. I used to wonder what it would be like to watch OVW (when they still had it), and I guess this is close. This is where they introduce new stars and repackage old stars, and you get to watch it as they experiment with different things. Calling it "ECW" is a bit a deceptive, but I guess it's more marketable than "AAA WWE" or something.

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

ECW Is An Alright Brand , But Thats All It Will Ever Be , Just Another Brand Of The WWE...ECW Was Good When , Well , When It Was Just ECW , And Was In Rivalry With WCW And WWE..And As A WWE Brand , It Hasn't Lead Up To The Name "Extreme" Has It?!

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

To the fans of the orginally ECW it's an abomination. But from WWE's business standpoint it is a third machine to push its product and to sell merchandising and to get more people over. So it depends on which point of view you are asking from.

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

Obviously it's not the same thing as the old ECW, partly due to Vince and partly due to the originals they did have either not resigning or getting the sack for various reasons. The occasional extreme rules match they do have is always welcome though

As far as being a developmental brand, I love it. The roster's exciting, they consistently have good & sometime great matches. I don't really see it as a seperate entity to SD though with the brand exchange programme they have going on

Re: ECW: Failure or Major Success?

I don't think ECW is a failure. I mean it does give other wrestlers a chance to get tv time and to develop on the mic as well. If there was no ECW would CM Punk have been given the chance he has had? Possibly but I seriously doubt it. Also ECW gave Lashley a chance to stand out and, I don't care if anyone disagrees with me I think he was built up as a good ECW champion (although most of his defenses were against RAW or Smackdown! wrestlers).

Also it has given wrestlers such as Burke and Shelton something to do. I can't say that I am to wild with the way Elijah hasn't been pushed but at least he still has a job. Also Chavo (although I doubt he will ever be out of Eddie's shadow) has really stepped it up since going over to ECW. ECW has also given Kane a second title reign and it is great to see it last longer than a day this time...

Somethings that I really like about ECW are the new fueds that are going around with Kofi and Shelton going at it.
