CM Punk vs Edge...?

For those who didn't see ECW last night, basically Edge screwed Punk over and thus made Chavo ECW Champ #1 Contender.

Now I know it's highly, HIGHLY unlikely, but I'd love it to be the start of a Edge vs Punk feud. Either have him finish this mini-feud with Chavo at the Rumble and lose the title when Edge screws him over again or more even more unlikely, and even better, have Edge cost him the title before the Rumble and then Punk can enter, win and challenge to a match at Mania!

I know Punk hasn't been exactly pushed very well in WWE, but this would be a great way to push him through the ceiling and turn him into a main eventer on Smackdown. Man but I'd mark hard!

Although i think Punk is techinally 'ready' for one of the other two big titles, I would prefer he go the Hardy route and take his time with the ECW title and or the IC title mix for at least another year.

I always felt like once you win one of the big two titles its a bit silly to win anything but the tag titles after that. Its hard to come back down once you are up. I would personally save him for the days that JBL, Jericho, Undertaker and those likes hang em up for good and then let him have a nice 5-10 year run at the top.

So yeah. While i love the idea of a fued with Edge, it really wouldn't help him at this point. I am personally loving the whole "Batista just can't beat Edge" storyline. haha.

I'd say Punk's definitely ready to get off ECW and into a main event feud. It might see even more of a demise for the ECW brand, but really, what does WWE care? On the plus side, it'd give Shelton, Elijah and maybe even this new guy Kofi a chance to shine over there.

Moving back onto Punk now though. He's dominated ECW for quite some time now, and I think he should at least be allowed to move onto one of the two bigger brands.

You wanted surprises? Have Edge screw Punk out of the title at the Rumble, then Punk is a surprise entrant in the Rumble match and wins. Next night on Smackdown he shows up challenging for the World Heavyweight strap at Mania.

I take your point of after you win one of the big two, it's hard to go back down, but I'm not saying he should win. Mayber after Mania he could move into a feud for the US Title, him and MVP could do some good work if MVP still has the title by then.

I just think this would turn him into a mega-star, and he could easily be the new face of Smackdown, as Taker'll be showing up less and less presumably due to age, and Batista has gotten extremely stale, not to mention he's talentless.

The only real negative I can see from this would be Taker vs Edge not happening at this Mania anyways.

Well, Edge has screwed Punk outta his ECW Title. Anybody think this is looking more likely?

That was a good way for Punk to lose his title either way.

You know what would be really sweet?

Hardy wins the title at the Rumble. Punk wins the Rumble and Punk vs. Hardy main events Wrestlemania.

Then I wake up.

I would love to see that, that would be a good match at wrestlemania.
