I have been a huge fan of WWE/WWF days. I have been watching on and off since I was like 4. With that being said, is there anything you wish they would bring back from the old days; or things that go on now that you wish they would have had then?
I think the one thing I wish they would bring back is Saturday Morning Superstars. I lopved watching that show. Yeah it recaped some things that happened during the week, but they also had some cool matches.
The other thing would be, Sorry I don't remeber then name, but it had Mean Gene as the host, and it went behind the scenes of wrestling to give a new unique view.
It was great when they did things like the RVD interview (I just watched it on Rob Van Dam: One of a Kind) or Michaels finally admitting to being in on the Montreal Screwjob.
I miss The Fink. He was THE best ring announcer, and I hated when Lillian started taking over (first for TV, and then for PPVs). At the very least, he should be doing the joint-brand PPVs.
They should also bring back Heat (yes I know they show it internationally, but I mean here in the United States). They should also make it important again. Remember when they used to treat it like a big show? They would have major stars on it and do major storylines on it.
I miss the days when lawler used to be funny commentary instead of just looking out for puppies. I also miss it when the matches used t6o actually make you care about the wrestlers. The last time I cared for the winner was benoit-angle at the royal rumble and that was more due to the effort put into the match rather than the buildup.
I also miss it when the cruiserweights used to wrestle like cruiserweights and when there were actually crusierweight wrestlers battling it out for the title.
I do wish that there were more intense shooter gimmicks, such as angle and benoit, back in the mid 90s (although i may be wrong cos I only started watching around WM12 where the closest person i can think of is bret hart although he wasn't an intense character). shamrock was the first to break the mold
Yeah I miss caring about matches mostly, i really hate the main even for no way out coming up.
And i wish they'd put more effort into the cruiserweights and the tag team division. Pisses me off when they've brought back all these tag teams so you're think "ohhh they're gonna start using the tag teams again!" and then they just throw them in random matches for no good reason. They did the same thing with the cruiserweights a few years ago.
I'd like them to bring back heat or their other shows, dont they still have the review shows on TV? I liked it, although it was for a VERY short time, when the other shows like heat and whatever the show was before velocity were acutally used.
Tag team main events suck for a big PPV - they shouldnt just go with "name value" to sell PPVs.
I would get rid of ECW as that will NEVER be the same as it was back in the day.
I would get rid of the roster split and chuck alot of the deadwood away.
I would get rid of some of the monthly PPVs. They make the big four seem less important. I remember the good old days of looking forward to Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble - we had proper story lines that were not rushed and a real big match feel to the PPVs.
Dont get me wrong I love a good PPV but the ones we get at the moment are sub-standard, predictable and in all honesty a waste of our hard earned cash. I remember when BIG things happened on PPV - Now they are glorified Raw episodes at best.
I just miss wrestling in general. That is why I have cut back so much on Smackdown and Raw... Too much happens outside of the ring and it is too much of a soap opera. There needs to be more done in ring. IT used to be that things started, dealt with, and eventually ended in the ring... now we have all of these off the wall soap opera storylines and it takes away from that "magic" that wrestling used to have. TNA seems to have a good thing going, I just hope they don't sacrafice what they seem to have to be more like the machine that wrestling "entertainment" seems to be becoming.
