Top 10 feuds of all-time

This is just an idea I thought of the other night and figured it'd make a good post. Everybody can post their top ten feuds/rivalries during their time of watching wrestling. Anyways here's my list.

1. nWo vs WCW- This feud changed the entire world of wrestling during the mid to late 90s. It was the most revolutionary thing in wrestling, and helped lead to arguably the peak of the industry.

2. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon- This feud symbolized the entire attitude era, and went a long a way in helping WWE overcome WCW.

3. HBK vs HHH- This may be higher on my list due to the fact it did a lot in getting me back into wrestling during 02, after I had stopped for a few years. They are both two of the best ever and watching them go at it was a real treat.

4. Rock vs Austin- Kinda the same thing with Vince, this feud was great, especially with all the fantastic mic work these two could produce.

5. Undertaker vs Kane- It was really well done. They managed to take a character who had struggled with previous gimmicks and placed him into a role, and it was just pure gold. I'll never forget when Kane debuted, ripping down the door and the facial reaction from Taker.

6. Owen vs Bret- The simple fact that two brothers were fighting was good enough in itself, add in the fact the actually could have some great matches.

7. Edge vs Matt Hardy- very personal feud and it shocked me to see Matt return, truly great stuff.

8. HBK vs Angle- their feud leading into Mania was awesome, with Kurt trying to do everything HBK had done in just three weeks, and it had a nice payoff at Mania.

9. Undertaker vs Mankind- Another good one. The promos Mankind cut were awesome and these managed some good matches, namley the wicked Hell in a cell match.

Dudleyz vs E&C vs Hardyz- TLC match. nuff said.

Re: Top 10 feuds of all-time

1. Sting vs Hogan (WCW/nWo)- Classic that helped launch one of the biggest following in wrestling history.

2. Austin vs McMahon family - WWE's answer to the WCW/nWo story line and helped to defin the attitude era

3. Bret Hart vs HBK/Vince - Nuff said... *looks at GD and ToL*

4. Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat - Classic NWA feud which spawned what is considered one of the best matches of all time.

5. Hogan vs Sgt Slaughter - Defined Hulk Hogan

6. Hogan vs Randy Savage - One of the best title feuds in WWF history

7. Austin vs Rock - Maybe the biggest feud of the Attitude era.

8. Undertaker vs Kane - Made Kane and gave Taker a shot at being a face.

9. Harlem Heat vs Steiner Bros - possibly 2 of the top tag teams of all time had the biggest tag feud of WCW history.

10. Samoa Joe vs AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels -This feud still flairs up from time to time. This fefined a lot of what the X-Division and TNA are all about.

Re: Top 10 feuds of all-time

In no particular order, and all really from my favourite period in wrestling -

Stone Cold -vs- The Rock

A feud that culminated in, not only many excellent skits and matches, but was showcased three times in Wrestlemania as well. I was at WM17 and the heat and quality of their match there will always stay with me. No gimmicks, cages, shortcuts, just stayed in and around the ring, and it was godly!!

Triple H -vs- The Rock

Worked for me with either as heel or face, both seemed able to knock up a tremendous match with each other just off the cuff, witness there Summerslam triple threat with Angle (where Angle was KO'd) Rock comes running down and they seemlessly knocked up 15 minutes of great action whilst Angle recovered to comeback for the closing segment. Two workers that were even more together than the sum of their parts.

Shawn Michaels -vs- The Undertaker

Bought fresh to the mind following the Rumble was their classic feud from nearly 10 years back. It started at Summerslam with Michaels accidentally costing Taker his title. It continued through to the Royal Rumble and had some very fine matches (the ones at Ground Zero and Royal Rumble were good....the first Hell in A Cell was unbefuckinglievable).

Kurt Angle -vs- Chris Benoit

In my mind, this generations version of Flair and Steamboat. There are way way too many matches to even start going into them all individually, but probably my stand out was there Royal Rumble encounter, perhaps even more so since it followed the Hunter - Steiner debacle.

Hardys -vs- Dudleys -vs- E&C

A fantastic time to be a tag team fan, which I am, three teams that were all very different but equally excellent and who just had a way of bringing out the best in each other. Again, I saw their match at WM17, which also featured Rhino, Spike & Lita. Tore the house down, as did their other matches.

Chris Jericho -vs- Chris Benoit

They did it well in Japan, WCW and WWE together. Always an excellent chemisty and very fine matches. Made a pretty fine tag team together as well in TLC (4?)

Cactus Jack -vs- Triple H

Mick's last full feud whilst on the full roster, and he made sure it was a good one. Hunter played his part very well and this feud both put a great full stop on Mick's original time with the group (yes I know he sadly came back the next month for Mania!!) and cemented the, up to then unconvincing in the main role, Hunter.

Chris Jericho -vs- Shawn Michaels

This feud was so "old school" and was so excellent for it. It started around November and ran all the way round to Wrestlemania managing to stay fresh and without either man competing in a one on one match with each other in all that time. There was logic to it (in the way they used the history of Jericho as a wannabe HBK in his very early career, and used the footage of him utilising Michaels moves). It stepped up a pace with their brutal exchange in the Rumble. And you watch the match and it's just the best example I can ever give people (along with Austin - Hart at Mania) for two guys going out and telling a story through their actions. The crowd were so hot as hell throughout, even the ending was godlike with it looking as though they were going to be friends and then Jericho kicking HBK in the nuts and leaving him a crumpled (but victorious) guy. A terrific exaple again of a feud helping enhance both guys regardless of who won. HBK speaks well of this match and feud in his book, I think he enjoyed it!!

Vince McMahon -vs- Stone Cold

Oh yeah the matches pretty much reeked (though I did think Vince at the time was better than I thought he was going to be) but the feud was sensational for a few years. It didn't really involve many matches (and certainly not great ones) between the two involved, but it did provide us with great storylines and feuds that span off it, Stone Cold - Dude Love, Stone Cold - Undertaker and many more.

Los Guerreros -vs- Edge & Rey Rey -vs- Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit

Strange one this, it yielded an incredble three or four months of matches on Smackdown between all of those involved, be it in single, matches with two teams against each other, matches with all three involved. It was just a lot of fun, it had tension (Angle and Benoit were the typical combustible pair always likely to fall out) and made Smackdown a show that had to be viewed. It also kick started Eddie's main event push.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Taker VS Vince.

Great call on the Guerreros/Angle & Benoit/Edge & Rey feud. I LOVED that period of tag team wrestling on Smackdown. It was awesome - the night Los Guerreros won the titles at Survivor Series, I marked like a beast.

See kids thats why you should always piss before a big match, to avoid marking like a beast in your living room.

Re: Top 10 feuds of all-time

Nice reads so far. I'm still not sure who the "old school" fans are, and who the fresh fans are...but I tend to lean towards the good old days. So here are my top 10, in no particular order...

1. Ted Diabiase/Virgil - Before the huge Stone Cold/McMahon, classic battle of employer/employee, there was this bout. I've always been a huge supporter of both men, and it was great to see them go at it over the Million Dollar Title.

2. Undertaker/Ultimate Warrior - Growing up as a kid, the deadman WAS pretty frightening. I still look back to a spot on the Funeral Parlor where Taker stuffed Warrior into a casket after clocking him with the urn.

3. Jake The Snake Roberts/Earthquake - The big man squashed his snake.

4. Lex Luger/Yokozuna - Outside of Hogan/Sgt. Slaughter, this was my first real exposure to a nationalistic-pride based program. I still remember the Lex Express making its way across the US and having actually met Luger as a kid at a JC Pennys on the tour.

5. Randy Savage/Ric Flair - Early 90's when Flair made his WWE debut...still remember the title he sported being blurred on television, and the infamous Elizabeth/Flair photos that showed up in WWF magazine, only to be proved to be fake. And the wedding where Savage was bitten by the snake...hahaha, ahhh I loved it.

6. Matt Hardy/Edge - Something much more recent! I love programs based on legitimate heat, and while I don't appreciate the fact that Hardy never got his just dues in their bouts, I'm still glad it came to light.

7. King of Hearts Owen Hart/Bret Hart - Jakobean17 summed it up pretty nicely.

8. British Bulldog/Bret Hart - Damn, awesome matchup at Wembley Stadium.

9. Austin/Rock - Amazing matchups. Definitely something Attitude-Era fans will cite in explaining why it was the best time for the WWE.

10. WCW/WWF Ratings War - Have to love how they were always trying to one up each other...DX showing up at the Nitro tapings...etc. Surprised no one made note of this yet.
