Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Should RVD be champ again? Alrighty people, I've been off for a couple of weeks and I haven't seen or read the results from the last ECW show, but my guess is that RVD isn't champ at the moment - and quite possibly never will be. I personally want to see RVD as the champ again because: *he's the most over with the crowd in ECW and lashley doesn't have the credibility to hold a world title yet *when given time and proper buildup, his matches are a joy to watch *he has a great attitude and love for the business. He always gives it his all whether its in front of a crowd of 15000 people or 300 people The only thing that makes me question his status as a potential world champ is the fact that he didn't want to go to Iraq yet sooooooo many others willingly did and secondly he apparantly showed little remorse for his drug bust last year. these don't make good PR qualitites for a champ, but in all honesty ECW isn't the most high profile brand to say the least, and so I say give him the title to help establish credibility to it and let him be the face of ECW for the next year at least. What say you guys?

It's a shame, he seemed to have recaptured his spark with his double world champion reign and his matches were very good in that period. Unfortunately, he now works for a huge PLC that cannot ever have an existing front man for the group getting busted on the charges he was convicted of. As such, he lost everything he'd worked so hard to get. Ever since then, and with it being obvious that Vince is making him pay for his "crime" (as he has done everyone that has upset him in the past....even blue eyed Hunter with his curtain call....pig pen matches with Henry O Godwinn and a feud with Duke the Dumpster anyone?) RVD has gone into unmotivated sulk mode and has phoned in his performances (and upped his errors rate) ever since. A clean break would be best for both, may help RVD get his motivation back.

Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() | RVD has got no real "drive". He has worked in patches his whole career. Yes it's understandable right now seeing as he got busted out of the "standard-bearer" posistion of ECW due to engaging in something many people would'nt even consider a crime any more. And he's been denied any chance of getting back for standing by a principle he (and I'd say at least 25% of all Americans and Brits) believes in. However I am personally of the feeling that RVD just could not keep the level of performance going that he was attaining Feb-July/August. His career has been like that for years, 6 months of brilliance 6 months "phoning it in" as TD pointed out, and then predictably 6 months injured. No doubt TNA will benifit from the next 6 month hot streak and I will be tuning into the lip-licking Styles/RVD bouts, however 12 months after when the "smark dream matches" are done RVD will be back to mid-card and the efforts will possibly dry up once more. |

The brand is a complete joke right now, its lost everything that made it unique, the major players (Heyman, and many of the "Originals") aren't even on the brand now. RVD could look back and say he was ECW Champ in 2007, but what would that even mean? It would have no glory behind it.
