Rep Power: 8 ![]() ![]() | Carlito & Masters I hate to bitch. I enjoy WWE quite a bit of the time, even though some of the booking is sloppy, generally the in-ring action makes up for it. Most of the roster is very talented, so it makes up for it. But not in this case. One year ago, at New Year's Revolution, Masters and Carlito were involved in the Elimination Chamber match. Along with Cena, they outlasted Kane, HBK and Kurt Angle to make up the final 3. It seemed they were on the brink of stardom. They had nice cameo roles in the Rumble, Carlito again screwing over Masters. Carlito was eliminated moments later, but they had one of the nicer moments in the Rumble. So why is it NOW that they're having a feud, a year later? WWE built the perfect foundations for a 2 month feud into Mania, for these 2 young guys to go on the biggest stage of them all, have a good match (They've had some great matches on Raw in the past), and show Vince and everyone else that the young, rising talent is worth watching. Lord knows it would have been a better match for Mania than Carlito & Masters vs Show and Kane - or more meaningful anyway, especially considering they got squashed. It just annoys me that these 2, from such promise (And admittedly good booking) last January, have gone backward in the year since. Carlito's handlnig has been sloppy, with his mismatch with Trish Stratus, to being bogged down in a feud with Nitro and Benjamin (Another guy being under-utilized) for too, too long. Masters is a bit different - with his months off for wellness treatment. But even so, since his return, the handling of him has been sloppy - Cena breaking his masterlock, losing too many matches, no promo time. Even so, just sloppy, and wasteful booking. And it annoys me, because these guys could have been the stars of 2006 alongside Edge, but due to WWE's sloppy booking and inability to push them, they're not. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Just another example of WWE booking dropping the ball. Carlito Vs Masters can still be a good fued but like you say this has been done not too long ago and their fued this time seems to have just been thrown together, involving Torrie Wilson and Lawler of all people!

Rep Power: 112 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just lazy booking. They've gone down the list of faces and heels......Cena - Umaga, DX - Rated RKO, Nitro - Hardy, ticked them all off and then realised Carlito & Masters don't have anything going on ....."wait a minute...." pipes up Billy Failed Sitcom Writer......"Steph, didn't Carlito & Masters once have something going on with each other a year ago and we just plumb forgot about it once we realised Chris was on the juice?" "Why yes, says Steph, let's bung them together again with little fanfare and see if they can suck up the joint with no momentum for their feud" "But Steph, didn't we look like we were pushing Carlito to be the new Rock last year.....what happened" "Erm, we forgot, and booked my husband, my dad and brother all over Raw for six months instead" "Wahoo"

Rep Power: 85 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | At this point I see more potential in Masters. Carlito is still too small, and while he's a great character, he hasn't added anything "cool" in a while to stay fresh. That, and the writing team has appeared to rid him of a lot of the edge he had, just like they did with Cena.

They didn't have the WWE Title around their waists.. yet they're considerd legends of WWE. Same goes for Carlito. I think he can become huge. But not World Title level material i'm afraid.

But i still see a lot of potential in both Carlito and Masters, there was a time when they couldve been like a Rock and HHH of their era (which is something Bulldog may of coined) trading fueds in the midcard to attempt a main event transition through those performances. But what has been said is right, Carlito needs to get his edge back and Masters just needs a little more time.
